Weird Sensation

"One Caramel Macchiato for Al!"

Alanis stands up from her chair, walking straight towards the counter upon hearing her name getting called along with her order. She heads out of the coffee shop once she gets it and hurries her way towards their university.

She ignores the drowsiness she's feeling as she sips on her coffee. There was a party last night that was hosted by one of her friends and although she didn't have any hangover, she could still feel the aftereffect of the party. It ended at four a.m. and so she thinks it's just understable why she woke up a bit late than usual.

She feels lightheaded as she makes her way through the university. She's just grateful she can still think straight even despite the sleepiness. The coffee isn't helping at all.

She still had half an hour before her first class started so she decided to relax on one of the nearby benches in her department. There weren't many people walking around in that place which she's grateful for because she couldn't handle any conversation right now. She's pretty famous in her university given that she's one of the life of a party wherever she attends. To add that she's also a member of the dance troupe in their university. So everyone she's bumping with would always greet her or strike up a conversation with her.

Alanis was too busy relaxing herself; she didn't notice how fast the time flew by. It was when her phone's alarm rang that she realized her first class was about to start.

She picks up her things, leaving her empty cup of caramel macchiato on the bench she was previously seated at. There was no nearby trash bin in her place and she was already running late. She just mentally apologizes for leaving a trash behind before sprinting towards her first class.

Unfortunately for Alanis, the elevator just had to be under maintenance at that moment and her class is on the fourth floor. Heaving out a frustrated sigh, she was left with no choice but to use the stairs instead.

She was running upstairs without much thought and she failed to notice someone was also climbing down the stairs. Just as she was about to turn for another flight of stairs, she bumps into someone which results in her falling down on the floor with a thud and her things scattering around.

She groans, not in pain from the fall but from her frustration, "Fuck, why am I so unlucky this early in the morning," she mutters to herself before picking up her things.

But then someone picks up her notebook the same time she did. She looks up to see who it was and she was met with a pair of brown orbs staring already into her own.

"I'm sorry, miss. I was too late to move away since I didn't notice you running."

It was a guy, a good-looking one at that. No, good looking is an understatement to describe the guy's face.

He looks gorgeous. Alanis has seen several handsome faces, one that could pass as a model. But this guy is different, though she couldn't understand how.

The guy emits warmth despite his sharp features and expressionless face. He has a silver mullet, fringes that almost cover his beautiful brown eyes and thick eyebrows. His small yet pointed nose, red lips that were shaped like a cupid's bow, and the few moles on his face. The most handsome face she has seen, one that she's sure she could stare at the whole day and still couldn't get enough.

'My style,' Alanis thinks to herself. 'Definitely my style.'

"Miss?"

Alanis was pulled out of trance when the guy spoke once again. She shakes her head then she takes the notebook from his hand as she stands up, the guy following as well.

"It's fine. I wasn't looking either. Sorry, by the way," she says. She almost cringes at herself for apologizing. It was very unlikely of her to do so even if it's really her fault.

She decides to dismiss it as she looks at the guy, eyes narrowed. "Are you by chance, new here? I don't think I've seen you before..."

'Because if I did, I'm pretty sure we already be hooked up with each other," Alanis continues in her mind instead.

The guy shakes his head, "I'm a transferee here, along with my friends."

'Knew it,' Alanis thinks. She smiles at the guy.

"Well, I hope you enjoy studying here. I'm Alanis, by the way," she introduces herself, offering her hand for a handshake which the guy took without hesitation.

Alanis didn't know if she was just hallucinating it or what, but as soon as the guy's hand touched hers, she felt some spark flow through their linked hands all the way up to her head which caused her to shiver.

It wasn't just her though. She noticed the guy reacted the same way she did, which confuses her all the more. But before she could even ask, the guy starts introducing himself.

"Heldrix Iverson, just call me Heli," the guy says like nothing just happened.

'Maybe I'm just hallucinating,' Alanis thinks as she shrugs off the weird sensation she felt and instead, flashes a warm yet mischievous smile at the guy. Just as she was about to ask another question, someone called the guy's name.

"Heli! There you are!"

Alanis' brows furrowed when a beautiful girl, a bit taller than her, with long blonde hair runs toward the guy. Trailing behind her were three handsome guys, almost as handsome as this Heli guy that she bumps with.

"Why did you just leave us there? We didn't know where to go!" The beautiful girl complains as she stops in front of them.

"We were looking for you, dude. We don't know this place, you shouldn't just leave us like that here! You were the only one who Maxwell toured here!" One of the guys says, the one with brown undercut hair.

"At least you've found me already," the guy nonchalantly responds before returning his gaze to Alanis.

It was only then that they noticed Alanis. She smiled at them, and they smiled back in recognition.

"Oh, who is she? Why are you already with a pretty girl on our first day here?" Another one of the guys says teasingly, the one with blonde hair.

Alanis chuckles, "We just bumped into each other," she simply says.

And then realization hits her. Her eyes widened.

"Shit, I'm late!" She exclaims. "I'm sorry again Heli, and see you when I see you guys!" She added before running upstairs without letting any of them reply. They just watch as she completely disappears from their sight, but Heli's eyes remain staring at where he last saw her.

"Bro, that's one hell of a gorgeous girl," Robin says, slapping Heli's arm lightly.

"Everyone's pretty for you, Ro," Shine says with an eye roll.

"Yeah, except for you," Robin teases her, which earns a slap from the girl.

"Hey, why are you still looking there? She's already gone," Kier says when he notices Heli staring at the stairways.

Blake gasps, "Don't tell us you fell in love with that pretty girl at first sight?!"

It successfully made Heli turn to them. He glares at Blake, "Stupid. I don't fall for someone at first sight just like that."

"Then why are you still staring at where she left off?" Shine asks.

Heli thinks for a moment before he decides to say what's on his mind.

"Her name is Alanis," Heli says.

"And?" Blake asks, brows furrowed in confusion. "We didn't ask her name, bro."

"Her name is Alanis," Heli repeats, ignoring Blake's words.

"Yeah, you just said—"

What Heli says next shut the four of them up, jaw dropped in surprise and disbelief.

"Her name's Alanis, and I think she's my mate."
