Chapter 2

Author: Alyssa J
In my freshman year, after being admitted to the prestigious Moonstone Healing Academy due to my excellent grades, the nightmare that would plague my entire student life began.

I don't even know when I provoked those nobles in the werewolf world. Not long after I enrolled, a massive campaign of school bullying unfolded against me.

Splashing cold water and isolation were the least significant things.

They covered my desk with vulgar graffiti - "bastard," "bitch"... all kinds of filthy words I'd seen and never seen before came flooding toward me.

It's not that I didn't fight back.

But every time I resisted, it only brought more severe bullying.

The one who hated me most was Scarlett.

She always wore exquisite makeup, looking so kind and gentle, yet she could press a lit cigarette into my mouth.

"Isn't this our famous little scholar? You actually dared to report us? Who gave you the courage, hmm?"

Her sweet voice was laced with deadly poison.

The excruciating pain made tears flow uncontrollably, blurring my vision. I could only see Scarlett's magnified smile filled with sick pleasure.

Countless days and nights swallowed by darkness wrapped around me like cold, heavy chains, strangling me until I could barely breathe.

Until that day.

In the chaos, the hand gripping my hair suddenly let go.

Like a torn rag, I was thrown out of the filthy mop bucket, collapsing limply on the ground with blurred vision.

The harsh laughter stopped abruptly.

A heart-stopping silence fell.

I struggled to lift my head and saw an unusually tall silhouette against the light.

Afternoon sunlight poured in from behind him, coating his entire figure with an almost sacred golden edge that hurt my eyes.

He didn't even raise his voice, just spoke two words plainly.

"Get lost."

Scarlett and her gang, who had been so arrogant just moments before, were left with only terror and disbelief on their pale faces.

They didn't dare make a sound, scrambling away in panic.

Leaving behind a mess and me with barely a breath left in my body.

The sunlight was blinding.

He bent down slightly, casting shadow over me.

A dry, warm hand gently brushed away the hair on my face that had been soaked and stuck by dirty water.

In that moment, I thought I had encountered salvation.

So even though Scarlett's bullying behind the scenes became more severe, I seemed to have found the strength to support myself.

A flower blooming in the mud.

On graduation day, Ethan confessed to me.

Enormous, unreal ecstasy instantly overwhelmed me like a tsunami.

All the past suffering, all the darkness, all the humiliation seemed to be completely washed away and redeemed in that moment.

In that moment, I thought the Moon Goddess had finally looked down and seen me, this believer in the dust.

It turned out.

It turned out that Ethan was the very perpetrator who had kicked me into the depths of hell.

All my bone-deep pain, the desperate struggles throughout my entire school career, those countless sleepless nights.

They were all essential parts of his carefully orchestrated salvation game script.

Just then, my phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket.

I shuddered violently, almost trembling as I reached into my pocket.

It was from my father's Beta.

[Miss Elena, are you certain you want to merge two-thirds of the territory your father left you into Alpha Ethan's pack?]

Two-thirds of the territory.

What my father left me - wealth enough to shake half the werewolf world.

Just minutes ago, I had been so naively going to share my joy.

How ridiculous.

My fingertips dug deep into my palms from excessive force, but strangely gave my brain a trace of cold clarity.

In my ears, I could still faintly hear Scarlett's triumphant voice.

"Ethan, I've arranged everything for next week's plan. I guarantee that fool will never forget it!"

I pulled at the corners of my mouth, my fingertips tapping on my phone.

[Plan suspended. Wait for my notice.]

[Also, find someone to help me investigate Ethan and Scarlett's affairs.]

Ethan, I've caught your betrayal.

My wedding arrived as promised, on a perfect spring day.I held Adrian's arm, standing under a magnificent dome adorned with thousands of star-like lights. The chapel was breathtaking, decorated with white roses and soft candlelight.I listened to the priest's solemn inquiry, my heart full to bursting."Do you, Elena Sterling, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?""I do."My voice was clear and firm, no hesitation whatsoever. My gaze met Adrian's beside me, and the tenderness and solemnity in his eyes almost drowned me.Almost took my breath away with their intensity.Thunderous applause erupted from the guests below us.Blessed gazes surged toward us like a tide, warm and joyful. In the shadowy corner of the chapel's back row, a figure stood out of place amid the surrounding joy.A darkness in the light.Ethan wore a slightly worn black suit, as if hastily retrieved from storage. The fabric was wrinkled, not properly pressed. He leaned against the cold stone wall, staring

The question came out strangled, disbelieving."How could you be carrying someone else's child?!"His voice rose with each word. His emotions instantly spiraled out of control, drawing curious glances from visitors around us.People were starting to stare, to whisper."We agreed before that we would only have each other in this lifetime, only us!"He was nearly shouting now."Have you forgotten? Have you forgotten all those promises we made?"His hands gestured wildly."Why did you give up on me? Why did you choose someone else!"The accusations poured out, desperate and angry.Faced with his hysterical accusations and questioning, I didn't get angry.I didn't even feel much of a ripple in my emotions. No rage, no satisfaction at his pain, nothing.I just quietly waited for him to finish venting, my expression calm. Then my lips curved up slightly into a small smile. No resentment, no vindictive satisfaction, only calm and relief.Peace that came from truly moving on."Ethan, people al

Four years was enough time to wash away many traces and quietly reshape a person.Time had worked its slow magic, healing wounds and building new foundations.Inside Seacity's top-tier flower exhibition center, I was hosting a new rose show. The grand hall was filled with visitors, their voices creating a pleasant hum of appreciation. After accepting my inheritance and no longer worrying about daily necessities or survival, I had completely immersed myself in cultivating new flower varieties. It became my passion, my purpose.Ethan wasn't a good person, but the roses were innocent. They held no blame for what had happened. Moreover, those were varieties I had cultivated with my own heart and hands. Each one represented hours of work, days of care.In the past, due to lack of money and resources, I had been forced to sell them to the rose garden.Giving away my creations just to survive. But since I took over that rose garden with my inheritance, seeing the varieties I had once cultivat

He suddenly turned to look at the nervous staff watching him, his voice hoarse and demanding."Let me see the cultivation records and flower language notes. Now."The staff exchanged worried glances with each other. This man looked half-mad, dangerous. But something in his face made them obey. One of them nervously handed over a worn notebook. The master cultivation journal.Ethan snatched the notebook from their hands, his fingers trembling so violently he could barely hold it.The leather cover was soft with age.He hastily wiped away the dust on the cover with his sleeve and opened it eagerly. His hands shook as he turned the pages. On the yellowed pages was my neat, careful handwriting. Each letter formed with precision and care.Recording the cultivation process of each rose variety in meticulous detail.Fertilizing schedules, watering amounts, lighting requirements, pest control methods.Every single detail was meticulously documented.Nothing was left out.But more than that, in

Ethan froze in place, his body going completely still. He just stared blankly at my retreating figure as Adrian wheeled me away.Watching me disappear around the corner without looking back.He knew deep down that I wouldn't give him a chance. Not after everything. Not ever. But he didn't want to give up, couldn't accept it.Some pathetic part of him still hoped. He staggered and turned around, his movements clumsy.Lost and dejected, like a man wandering in darkness. After taking just a few steps down the corridor, a tall figure suddenly blocked his path.Adrian stood before him, his expression cold and stern. His posture was threatening, protective. He didn't even give Ethan any time to react or speak.Raising his hand, he threw a vicious punch directly at Ethan's face."Thud!"The force was so great that Ethan crashed directly into the wall behind him.The impact made a dull sound that echoed down the empty hallway. His lips split instantly from the blow, blood seeping out.The tast

He organized them in his medical bag with practiced efficiency, each tool in its proper place. Then he made a rare joke, his usually serious face breaking into a slight smile."Dear Elena, that man outside seems deeply infatuated with you."He gestured vaguely toward the door where Ethan had been hovering."Are you sure you won't reconsider? He seems very devoted, if a bit desperate."I smiled helplessly at the professor's well-meaning but misguided suggestion."He's not my type. You know, I don't really like clingy men."My tone was light, dismissive.I didn't want to discuss my private affairs with outsiders, especially not the messy, painful details. And Professor Williams had no idea that the protagonist of the recent scandalous strong pack drama was standing right in front of him.He didn't know about the fake mating certificate, the stolen kidney, the lost baby. All he saw was a man who seemed to care.Seeing my clear rejection, Professor Williams could only sigh helplessly. He w
