Scott's pov

Shaun and my aunt were engrossed in their conversation when I left, and as I strolled to my room, all I could think of was the easiest way to tell Marvela the truth.

The closer I got to the door, the more unsure I was. I lifted my hand and slowly pushed it open, letting myself in.

"Hey..." Marvela greeted softly and smiled. The warmth of her gentle smile and the subtle look in her eyes instantly stung my chest. I immediately felt like a complete loser for keeping such an angel in the dark for so long.

"I searched everywhere for you...." she started and got up from the chair she sat in. "My mother wanted to say a few things to you, but I promised her I'd send her message..." Marvela said, and I merely chuckled.

My throat burned as my words choked me. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words were coming forth, and Marvela's smile slowly faded. My plan was to tell her the next morning but merely looking at her, I almost fell to my knees.
