Chapter Two Playing With Fire.

“Do you think I’m some stupid slut, you can just fuck and get away with? I’ll make you pay!” Angela yelled, her face was red from anger, she wouldn’t actually do anything, she just wanted to vent her frustration. Trenton stood tall and looked at her. “When you’re done, do what I asked you to do, it wasn’t free of charge, I’m paying you for it!” He said. “Oh, really? And did I tell you I wanted to do it with you, mark my words, men like you don’t last on this earth!” She yelled more. “Get out!” He yelled back at her. She ran out in tears and went to a toilet to change, she vowed never to work in this company.

In the washroom, Angela rinsed her face and changed into the new dress that Trenton arranged for her. She forgot to take the contraceptive pills along with her, due to Trenton’s outburst.

She walked out of the company and hailed a taxi. “Hello Miss!” A voice rang out from behind. Angela paused and looked back, she saw a well dressed gentleman, approaching her. She frowned, a bit perplexed and pointed a finger at herself. “Me?” She asked. “Yes, are you Alicia Martins?” The gentleman man asked. “Yes, may I help you?” She said. “My name is Linton, I’m Mr. Edward’s personal assistant!” He said. “Mr. Edward ordered me to transfer a million dollar to your account, you’ll receive it in a few seconds, I’m just here to confirm that you received it” he added. The name Edward, surely rings a bell. “Excuse me, may I know your boss’s full name?” Angela asked, her heart pounding in her chest. “Mr. Trenton Edward Is my boss’s full name!” Linton said. The cool breeze of daytime, blew Angela’s hair and it sent shivers down her spine, her pupils dilated in shock.

Ding!

Her phone lit up and a new notification popped up, indicating that she just received a sum of one billion dollars. “Miss Alicia! Can you hear me?” Linton waved his hands to call her attention back. “I….I’ve received it, thank you!” She finally came back to her senses. “I’ll take my leave!” Linton said and turned walking back to the company. She boarded the taxi and started to have deep thoughts about her life.

Why did her life end up like this, she always thought she would marry a prince that will cherish her forever. Well maybe those are just fairytales and don’t actually happen in real life. He hated her so much without knowing her, yet he slept with her still not knowing who she is. “Well, it already happened and she shouldn’t be obstinate about the matter, but she would never accept him, even if he finally knows who she is, she thought to herself. She planned on keeping the money aside for future use and find a decent job. She submitted her CV to different companies, hoping to get a job today.

Ring! ring!

Her phone was ringing and it was her aunt, calling her. “Hello!” Her tone was cold. “You have been avoiding our calls for weeks, the Edward family have asked us about you and we can’t even get your line, do you have any idea what you’re doing? How do you expect us to payback your bride price? You better………beep….beep” Angela disconnected the line, she shouldn’t have picked the call, these selfish people think they can sell her off and make her suffer, while they enjoy the good benefits. Her phone lit up again and she just got a message from G- Tech constructions Ltd, they asked her to come for an interview. She made sure to do some researches about the company, to avoid meeting with Trenton again.

Wide Tech Company,

“My son, I’m sorry I was too desperate, I wanted you to get a girl quickly, since you’re not interested in bringing back that Angela girl…..but how did you manage yourself since you sent away the girl I sent to you?” Florence, Edward’s mother said. Trenton leaned back in his chair and furrowed his brows. “Mother please stay out of my business, after secretly giving me an aphrodisiac, if it were someone else, I wouldn’t take it lightly!” He said calmly. “Forgive me, my son!” She bit her lip in regret. “But you should really consider Angela, you have the power to find her wherever she’s hiding, she’s a pretty girl, you refused to take a look at her picture, why not just take a look since I’m here” Florence scrolled through her phone and held it up for Trenton to see. It was a picture of Angela smiling gracefully.

“Alicia?” He uttered. “Who’s Alicia? Angela! She’s Angela!” Florence took her phone and cross checked if she wasn’t mistaken. “Her full name?” He asked. “Angela Martin!” Her voice full of excitement. “Send this picture to me!” He said to her. “Sure my son! She’s pretty right?” Florence did as he said, feeling overjoyed. He ignored her happy mood and thought of what to do with Angela, she actually came to his company with a fake name.

She’s playing with fire.

Angela finally got the job and will resume the next day, she went straight to Janet’s place. She related all that had happened today and Janet was so furious, she wished she could make Trenton vanish from the face of the earth in an instant. “He doesn’t recognize you as his wife and he slept with you, he’s utterly despicable, you definitely can’t get married to him, he’ll sleep with his female employees right under your nose” Janet complained bitterly. “I’m happy he didn’t come looking for me, I’m waiting him to send the divorce papers, apparently, he isn’t interested in the marriage, so he should just call a spade a spade” Angela took small sips of juice from a glass.
