"You guys go ahead. I need to go use the restroom." Logan noticed some powder on his clothes. He made a beeline for the restroom after informing his friends.
The others saw Sophie and the other two girls. Ross and David's hearts skipped a beat when they saw the three beautiful girls. David immediately felt shy, and his footsteps slowed. Ross adjusted his glasses in an attempt to mask the unease he was feeling inside.
"Sophie, Wren, Bella! You seem to be having the time of your lives. What were you talking about?" asked Joey as she walked over with a smile on her face.
Sophie and her friends turned to look at her. They cast purposeful looks at Josh's roommates. When they saw David and Ross, their smiles froze. Their emotions had been as warm and lively as spring just minutes ago, but it was as if a cold wind had blown all that away.
David was not handsome at all, and Ross was average. They were far from what the girls had expected.
A single glance was all the three girls gave them. They were visibly disappointed at what they saw.
"Uh…" Joey was in an awkward position after seeing the expressions on her friends' faces. She expected that this would happen. Without breaking pace, she turned around and shot Josh a glare.
Josh could only smile apologetically in return.
"Have a seat," ushered Josh. "Ross, why don't you sit beside Wren? You can sit beside Bella, David."
Wren Crawford stood up as soon as Josh finished making seating arrangements and sat beside Bella Jensen. Her actions were clear—she did not want to sit with the boys.
Ross and David were feeling extremely awkward because of that. On the other hand, Wren and Bella talked to each other while tending to their phones. They did not seem to find anything wrong with what had just transpired.
There were four wooden benches around each table, and the benches could fit two people each. Wren sat with Bella, Ross sat with David, Josh sat with Joey, and Sophie sat on the remaining bench on her own.
Joey and Josh were worried. Sophie was the most beautiful of them all and was the pickiest person as well. They did not dare imagine how she would react if she saw Logan.
Logan had the looks, but his cheap outfit made him look like a loser.
Josh and Joey tried their best to facilitate the food-ordering process. Wren and Bella directed their full attention to the menu. They completely ignored David and Ross, who sat opposite them.
"I see that there are two of them. Where's the other one?" Sophie directed her question at Josh as she straightened her silky hair.
"Ah, he's in the restroom. He should be here soon," replied Josh hastily. He caught a glimpse of Logan walking toward their table as soon as he replied. He immediately stood up and beckoned to Logan. "Hey, Logan! Over here!"
When Sophie, Wren, and Bella heard that another guy had come, they turned to look. Wren and Bella gave him a cursory look and quickly lost interest. They redirected their gaze toward the menu again.
Meanwhile, Sophie widened her eyes. As a matter of fact, her eyes twitched. A look of discontent crept into her eyes.
Logan recognized her as well. He kept his eyes locked on hers as he walked over. He was perplexed. Sophie seemed to hate him, but he did not know why.
Logan proceeded to sit down beside Sophie. The latter stared at him for a while before snorting mockingly.
"What is it, Sophie?" asked Joey. She had a feeling that Sophie knew who Logan was.
"It's nothing." Sophie looked at Joey and smiled coldly. She glanced at Logan out of the corner of her eye before addressing Wren and Bella. "What a small world. This was the fellow whom I bumped into in the bank!"
"This is the guy?"
"I can see what you mean by his clothes."
Wren and Bella widened their eyes as they looked Logan up and down.
"What do you mean? What are you guys talking about?" Joey was still completely out of the loop.
Sophie did not seem to be in the mood to explain. Thus, Wren frowned and said, "Sophie was with her dad in Goldguard Bank this morning to run some errands, and this guy bumped into her. See, there's a small hump on Sophie's forehead!"
Bella felt that Wren was missing the point. She decided to contribute to the conversation and cast a demeaning glance at Logan. "Look at his outfit. We all know what kind of place Goldguard Bank is. You need $1,000,000 just to get a card. He walked into the bank without a bank card, like he owned the place. He could not even comprehend the situation when the lobby manager confronted him. I bet he ran out of the bank with his face red with embarrassment."
After hearing that, Joey, Josh, and the others looked at Logan. They could imagine how awkward it must have been for Logan in Goldguard Bank.
Joey was worried. Judging from the looks Sophie was giving Logan, Joey knew that she did not like Logan at all. She wondered whether they could still proceed with the meal since she knew that Sophie was usually frank with her opinions.
Joey was still considering her options when Sophie made the choice for her with her action. With the same cold smile on her face, she looked at Josh and Joey. "I'm glad you found someone as handsome as Josh, Joey. I have something I need to do. I'll be leaving now. Bye."
Sophie stood up after saying that. She turned around and walked out of the restaurant.
This meal had been Sophie's idea. She found Josh handsome and found out that he was a sports major. She expected Josh's roommates to look just as attractive as him.
She had organized the meal, hoping she could spare herself the trouble of finding a suitable partner. Even if it did not work out, she would not mind getting to know two more handsome guys in her life.
Josh's roommates did not meet her expectations at all. David could hardly be called good-looking, while Ross was as average as could be, but she could still stand them.
She lost her cool when she saw Logan. To her, Logan was nothing but an embarrassing loser who had never seen the world.
