He frowned at her words, while she savoured the look of confusion on his face.

“How? And why would you even help me make her stay?”

“Well… I just hope she will stay this time,..... with you. Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted? You probably don’t know, but I’ve met your mother before.”

Her smile slipped away, leaving him even more bewildered.

“Your mom… she forced my dad to sell his restaurant because it was in the centre of the city, and she wanted to build Vivacity there. My dad refused at first, but… in the end, he lost against her power. He had no choice but to sell his dream to your mother.”

Flashback

Rainee had returned from school, her stomach growling, and headed straight to her father’s restaurant. Usually, it was bursting with laughter and clattering dishes, but that day the air was eerily still. Empty tables stretched across the room.

Her father sat slumped in a chair, tears streaming down his face as her mother held him. It was the first time Rainee had ever

She laughed awkwardly and glanced at Sam, who had just stepped out of his room. Her eyes flashed with a sharp, sarcastic edge. “You’re done.” “Guys--- guys, we’re getting late. L-let’s g-go,” Sam stammered, clearly flustered.________Alex entered his office, buoyant and confident, but the moment he saw him, the grin vanished.“What are you doing here?”“Can’t I remind my own brother that he also has a best friend ?”Alex rolled his eyes and sank into his chair, choosing to ignore him.“So… how’s it going? Did she forgive you? Any progress?”Alex smirked.“You tell me…”“Wow… so typical of you. Let me--”A furious, cutting voice interrupted.“ALEX FRASER!!”Alex’s eyes widened at the sight of her expression pure, blazing anger. It hadn’t been long since he last saw her this furious. She strode up to his desk and slammed the coffee cup and flowers onto it. Jimmy’s eyes widened in surprise, and he gave Alex a discreet thumbs-up.“Look at what you’ve done! A bunch of teenagers congratul

The drive was a little awkward. Both were silent, as if they had forgotten how to speak. Alex Fraser wanted to start the conversation, but the words refused to leave his mouth. At last, Rainee said goodbye and stepped out of his car, leaving him sighing in defeat. He punched the steering wheel, the loud horn blaring and grabbing everyone’s attention on the road. What the heck is wrong with you, Alex? Why didn’t you say anything? Since when do you get nervous in front of a girl?! Damn it… I’m going crazy. He cursed himself for being useless for the first time in his life. But deep down, he didn’t want to ruin the fragile relationship with Rainee that had just begun to heal. He knew his mouth had no filter and that he often spoke before thinking. So, he chose to remain silent, afraid of making mistakes again and having to start all over.Taking a U-turn, Alex headed back home, but at a red light, he heard a familiar voice. Looking into an alley, he spotted Sam standing in front of a g

“Long time no see, Mrs. Fraser.” His mother frowned, narrowing her eyes to recognize her, but she couldn’t. “Do we know each other?” “I was very small when we first met. I’m sure you remember that famous restaurant you forced my father to sell. And I’m the same girl for whom your son burned the club… No, not just that. He even exposed his own aunt’s deeds and removed her from the CEO position to stop my marriage.” Emma Fraser’s eyes widened in shock and anger. She clenched her jaw, scoffing in disbelief. “So, why are you here? To get revenge?” Rainee smiled, unfazed. “What can I get from that? I’m not so free that I’d waste my life playing a revenge game. I already have enough on my plate. I just want to earn money and settle before I grow old. You don’t need to worry about me.” Emma Fraser chuckled, amused. “Worry? You think I would worry because of you? I can make you disappear with a snap of my fingers. Did you forget how I made your father beg in front of me and my worker

“Rainee, we have to go to the Fraser mansion to get these papers signed,” Andrew said. After working together for half the day, they had become more comfortable with each other. Rainee even told him to call her by her name since she was his junior, and he was older than her. “Okay… but do I really have to come?” “It’s not necessary, but come with me today and get familiar with it too, just in case you need to go by yourself in the future.” “Alright.” ________________ When the car stopped, the first thing she noticed was the royal entrance and the number of security guards standing in front of the grand mansion. Everything was so perfect it almost suffocated her eyes. Just then, Andrew’s phone rang, and he answered immediately, as if he had been waiting for this call. “Yes, Mr. William… Okay… I’m coming.” He looked at her seriously. “Rainee, I have to leave for an urgent matter. I’ve canceled the meeting, but some shareholders are causing trouble in the company. You go and ge

After coming back home, her family greeted her enthusiastically, thinking she must be sad because of yesterday’s event on the day of her marriage. But she smiled happily as if nothing had happened.“You guys don’t have to do all this. I’m really fine. In fact, I got lucky to find out everything before marriage, or it would have been troublesome in the future.”Sam pouted while standing there with his burnt egg rolls that he had made by himself to cheer up his sister. He was almost teary-eyed seeing her genuine smile.“Hey, are you really okay? You don’t need to pretend in front of us. If you want to cry, just cry. I promise I won’t laugh.”She chuckled at his words and caressed his chubby face.“Stop worrying about me. I’m really fine. Go and study. I’m also going to rest early today. Tomorrow I have to leave early for my new job. Oh… Mom.. Dad… I’m going to work as Alex Fraser’s assistant.”Her mom, dad, and brother widened their eyes in shock, but her father wasn’t surprised, as if
