Chapter 4

The man, Andrew, bowed his head respectfully before signaling the men behind him. They carried in several large boxes, each holding a luxurious showcase displaying ten limited edition RW watches.

Sam’s jaw dropped as his eyes sparkled with disbelief. He quickly covered his mouth to stop himself from squealing.

Meanwhile, Rainee’s confusion deepened. Has Sam won some kind of lottery?

"What... what is this?" she asked, watching the men place the boxes inside without waiting for permission.

Andrew smiled nervously and cleared his throat.

"Mr. Fraser asked me to deliver all 3,000 pieces of the limited-edition watches to your brother."

Sam gasped audibly. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the first piece in the showcase, numbered 0001, the exact one he’d admired on Alex Fraser’s wrist earlier that day. He snatched it up, cradling it like a precious gem.

Meanwhile, Rainee’s expression turned cold. She scoffed and crossed her arms.

"I told him I wouldn’t apologize to him at any cost--"

"Sir doesn’t want your apology," Andrew interrupted, his voice faltering. "He requested your presence... at his private suite tonight."

Rainee’s confusion deepened, her eyes narrowing.

"For what?"

Andrew hesitated, visibly uncomfortable. He leaned in and whispered in her ear, "He... he wants to spend the night with you."

Rainee’s eyes widened in shock. She took a step back, her voice trembling with rage.

"WHAT?!"

Andrew flinched but quickly added, "These watches are just a gesture. You can ask for anything else after..."

Before he could finish, Rainee stormed toward one of the showcases, picked it up with both hands, and hurled it out the door with a loud crash. Sam winced as if his heart had shattered along with the watches.

The entire room froze. Rainee’s parents exchanged nervous glances, suspecting that someone had insulted their daughter.

"Take your garbage and get out of my house!" Rainee yelled, her voice echoing through the neighborhood. "What kind of man does this? Is he even human?! Tell your boss to show his face if he has any guts!"

The men scrambled to pick up the boxes and leave, clearly intimidated. Meanwhile, Sam discreetly hid the first watch in his pocket, pretending to be uninterested.

In a luxurious penthouse, Alex Fraser sat on the edge of his bed, sipping wine from a crystal glass. Fresh from a shower, he was in an unusually good mood. The thought of Rainee surrendering to him made his pulse quicken.

A knock at the door pulled him from his thoughts.

"Come in," he called.

Andrew entered, his face pale with nervousness. Bowing deeply, he stammered, "I’m sorry, sir."

Alex’s smirk faded, his grip tightening on the glass.

"What happened?" he demanded through gritted teeth.

Andrew didn’t dare speak. Instead, he handed Alex his phone, a recorded video ready to play. Alex snatched the device, setting his glass aside, and began watching.

The video showed Rainee hurling the watches out of her house, her words cutting deeper than any blade. As Alex watched her angry tirade and saw her challenge him in front of his employees, his fury boiled over.

"Get out," he hissed, his voice dangerously low.

"Sir, I'll go and try to--"

"I SAID GET OUT!" Alex roared, his voice shaking the walls.

Andrew bolted, leaving the room without another word.

Alex hurled the phone across the suite, shattering it against the wall. Grabbing his wine glass, he downed the rest in one gulp before slamming it onto the table.

"That fucking girl," he muttered darkly, his eyes burning with rage. "She think she can humiliate me? I’ll show you your place. Get ready to face hell on earth."

______

Alex sat in the back of his car, rubbing his temple in frustration. His headache had been relentless since morning, a result of a sleepless night spent obsessing over her. After destroying his phone in a fit of rage, he had ordered his PA at midnight to send another copy of the video footage.

Since then, Alex had watched the clip of Rainee's defiance on a loop. Her words had cut him, but something about her, the fire in her eyes, the boldness in her demeanor, kept drawing him in. Now, as the car moved through the city, her voice and image refused to leave his mind.

He sighed, pressing his head against the cool glass of the car window.

“Drive to that arrogant girl’s workplace,” he commanded abruptly.

His assistant glanced at him through the rearview mirror but obeyed without question, relaying the order to the other cars in the convoy.

Alex barely knew anything about her, not even her full name. He hadn’t cared enough to ask for her details before. But now, he needed to know everything.

As the car pulled up in front of the office building, Alex's heart skipped a beat.

There she was, standing outside, her bright smile making his chest tighten in a way he didn’t understand. Then, his jaw clenched as he saw her run toward a man and wrap him in a hug.

"Who is he?" Alex’s voice was low and icy.

His assistant hesitated before replying, “If I’m not mistaken, that’s Ms. Rainee’s boyfriend. He works at your subsidiary nearby.”

Alex’s tongue pressed against the inside of his cheek as a dangerous smirk spread across his face. Jealousy flared in his chest, fueling the storm brewing inside him.

“So, her name is Rainee,” he murmured. “And she works for James Smith's company, the man who’s been begging me for a project.”

“Yes, sir. This office belongs to Mr. Smith.”

Alex’s smirk widened, though his eyes never left Rainee and the man.

“Perfect. Call him. Tell him I’m outside.”

His assistant nodded and made the call. Within two minutes, a flurry of activity erupted. Security guards lined the entrance as James Smith himself rushed out to greet Alex, bowing deeply before opening the car door.

“What a pleasant surprise, Mr. Fraser! If you wanted to meet me, a call would have sufficed. I would have come to you immediately!”

Alex stepped out, his expression unreadable as he met James’s eager smile.

“I was passing by and thought I’d stop to see you. I hope it’s not an inconvenience.”

“No, no! Not at all! It’s an honor to have you here. Please, come inside.”

Alex nodded, walking alongside James toward the building. Employees lined the hallways, bowing his head respectfully as they passed. Alex spared only a brief glance at Rainee, who stood glaring at him with barely concealed fury.

Her defiance sent a jolt of satisfaction through him. At least now, her attention was on him and not the man beside her.

Inside James’s office, Alex sank into the chairman's chair, exuding an air of dominance. James stood nervously in front of him, hands clasped.

“What can I do for you, Mr. Fraser?”

Alex leaned back, his voice smooth and deliberate.

“I’m considering awarding you my new project. Are you still interested?”

James's face lit up with excitement.

“Of course! Thank you so much, Mr. Fraser! We won’t disappoint you!”

Alex’s smirk returned, though his eyes shifted toward the door.

“That’s what I’m expecting, Mr. Smith. Now, call Ms. Rainee. I’d like to speak with her privately.”

James blinked in confusion.

“You mean Rainee Garcia, the designer’s assistant? She’s very capable. If you’d like, I can promote her--”

A sharp glare from Alex cut him off mid sentence.

“Don't make me repeat myself. Just call her. And leave us alone.”

1 Year Later “Brother, Rainee… you both came!” Sam’s voice trembled as he bolted across the polished marble floor, his graduation robe swaying with every hurried step like a dark wave trailing behind him. The grand hall sparkled under crystal chandeliers, echoing with applause, camera flashes, and bursts of cheers. Yet for Sam, the crowd, the stage, even the towering floral decorations all blurred into meaningless shapes. All he saw, clear, steady, and grounding, were the two figures at the entrance, his sister Rainee and Alex. Alex’s smile was warm, radiant, like a hearth after a cold journey. In his hands rested a huge bouquet of flowers, its colors vivid and alive, deep reds, creamy whites, hints of lavender. Sam’s eyes flicked to the petals but always returned to Rainee. She stepped forward, her dress a soft shade that caught the light like water, her arms opening instinctively. Wrapping her brother in a fierce, loving embrace, she pressed her lips close to his ear and whisper

One month later The courthouse smelled of dust and bleach, the kind of sterile air that always tried and failed to hide the residue of countless human dramas. Alex and Rainee had come to that place not for spectacle but to close a wound that had festered for decades. The verdict had already landed like a slab of ice, life sentences for the woman who had made so many lives into collateral. As they turned to leave, a raw sound cut through the murmurs, a frantic, familiar voice tearing out of its throat. “Don’t touch me! Don’t you know who I am? I’m Emma Fraser… the owner of the Frasers! Leave me!” the voice shrieked, every consonant jagged with panic. Officers guided her forward, their grips firm but professional, while the stunned hush of the crowd pressed in from all sides. She pushed and clawed at the uniforms like a trapped animal, every movement born of a terror that had nothing to do with dignity and everything to do with survival. When she caught sight of them approaching

She slammed the phone down and stared at the screen as if the screen itself had committed the crime. The anchors’ voices were a jagged chorus that she couldn’t quite silence, the evidence scrolling beneath them like a sentence. “How did it get leaked?!” she demanded, voice raw and high. “Didn’t you say nothing could happen to us? Now what?” “Stop screaming!” the soon be ex mayor, her brother shot back, panic shredding his composure. “It’s you who told me to do those things, now you’re blaming me for everything!” The two of them were unraveling in real time, their terror a frantic dance on the carpeted floor of the cottage. The accusations, stacked with documents and recordings, had already cost him his authority, her brother's face had changed from defiant to hunted. They bolted for the car as if flight could buy them time, but just as they fumbled with keys and belts, the phone in her trembling hand rang again. She drove the car as fast as she can to escape before cops come to ar

Two months later They tried to move forward the way people do after the world has shifted under their feet, awkwardly, with polite steps and a cautious faith that life will mend itself if given time. Sam had been discharged and had come back quietly with Andrew, slipping into the familiar corners of the mansion as if claiming a small peace that had been stolen from him. He buzzed with a different kind of nervous excitement when he saw them both, his hands still dusted with flour in his mind though the kitchen had already been cleaned clean. “I baked a cake for the first time,” Sam announced with a grin that refused to be tamed, the pride in his voice plain as day. “I want you both to be there when I serve it.” She lit up at the offer, an easy, bright smile spreading across her face as if the simple idea of sharing something homemade could stitch up the raw places. Alex watched them, feeling a small, shameful tug of embarrassment at the edges of himself. Work had swallowed him

He woke to the soft weight of a stare resting on him. Blinking away the haze of sleep, he found her beside him, lying on her side with her head propped on one hand. The morning light slipped through the curtains and settled on her face, illuminating the quiet smile she wore as if simply watching him breathe made her happy. The sight stirred something deep inside his chest, pulling him back to the first morning they’d ever shared together, the same silence, the same awe, the same flutter of disbelief that she was real and his. His heart skipped before he even realized he was moving. He reached out, gently cupped the side of her face, and pulled her close enough to press his lips to hers. She gasped at first, surprised, but within seconds her body relaxed against him. She returned the kiss with shy eagerness, trying to keep up with the slow intensity he set. It didn’t take long for her to realize how naturally he moved, every shift, every brush of his lips felt confident, practiced

Her eyes widened at the intensity of his words. Furious and flustered, she grabbed him mid-thrust, flipping him over in one swift movement. Now on top, she straddled him, grinding against him while he lay back, watching her with dark, hungry eyes. She smirked mischievously, voice teasing. “So… I did a good job at seducing you?” she asked, hips rolling, hands braced on his chest. Alex’s jaw tightened, hand shooting down to smack her hips hard. “You trapped me all between your…” His eyes flicked down to their bodies connected, a smirk curling on his lips before he finished, “…legs----, I mean fingers.” Rainee scoffed, her pace quickening, teasing him with every motion. “Would you have forgotten me if I had agreed to sleep with you the first day you asked?” she taunted. He grabbed her breasts firmly, squeezing and kneading them, making her moan loudly while he continued to thrust beneath her. “If we’d slept together that first day, you would’ve trapped me sooner, yeah… But not
