(Vivian’s POV)

The car ride to the party was quiet. Tense.

Kai drove with one hand on the steering wheel, his other resting on the gearshift, looking effortlessly composed in his black tailored suit. Meanwhile, I was a bundle of nerves beside him, fidgeting with the clutch in my lap, trying to control my breathing.

“Relax,” he said without looking at me. “You’re shaking.”

“I’m not shaking,” I lied.

His hand moved to gently cover mine. Warm. Steady. Reassuring.

“Vivian,” he said, voice softer now, “nothing bad will happen. I won’t let it.”

I wanted to believe him. But the knot in my stomach wouldn’t untangle.

When we arrived at the Moonlight Estate, the venue was already glowing with lights and elegance. The driveway was lined with expensive cars, guests in tuxedos and gowns stepping out with practiced poise.

As soon as we walked in, eyes turned toward us.

Correction: toward Kai.

He was magnetic—commanding attention without trying. I could hear women whispering his name, commenting on

(Vivian’s POV)The moment Kai’s lips met mine again, something shifted. This wasn’t the soft kiss from earlier—the one filled with love and promises and forever. This was different. His hands were rougher now, urgent, his mouth claiming me like I already belonged to him. Like the proposal had unlocked something feral inside him.And maybe it had.I gasped as he spun me around, my back pressing against the cool wall of the bedroom. His hands were everywhere—at my waist, in my hair, gripping my wrists above my head. My breath hitched when he leaned in close, his mouth hovering near my ear.“You said I’m yours,” he whispered, voice dark and low. “But you have no idea what that means, sweetheart.”I shivered. My fingers trembled against the wall as he pinned me there, eyes locked onto mine with that smoldering, dangerous intensity. My heart thudded like a war drum in my chest. His shirt was already half undone, and I ached to feel him against me.“Kai…” I barely managed. He didn’t answer.

(Kai’s POV)The way she laughed—God, it did something to me. The way her eyes lit up under the amber lanterns as we strolled back from dinner, her fingers interlocked with mine, her head leaning against my arm. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Not since the moment we landed in Hawaii. Hell, not since the moment I laid eyes on her in the first place. She was in a long white sundress now, her soft curls bouncing against her shoulders with every step. I’d picked the restaurant on purpose—Leilani's Cove, tucked between cliffs and sea, overlooking the horizon where the sun had set just moments ago. Now, under the moonlight, everything looked painted in silver. The world faded around us. And I knew. I just knew."Viv," I said, tugging her hand gently."Hmm?" she turned to me with a sweet smile, already looking up with a curious sparkle in her eyes.I stopped walking, turning to face her fully. Her body swayed slightly as the ocean breeze played with her dress and hair."Close your eyes," I

  • Owned By My Best Friend's Uncle   CHAPTER 165 - I'M IN LOVE

(Vivian's POV)The sun cast a golden sheen over the lush canopy of palm trees as Kai intertwined his fingers with mine. The ocean breeze tousled my hair, but I didn't care—I was too caught up in the moment. We’d spent the afternoon strolling through Hanalei Village, a charming little town Kai had picked out after “doing his research,” as he proudly told me.“You like it here?” he asked, tilting his head to look at me with that smug little smile.I smiled back, eyes crinkling. “Like it? I love it. It feels like a painting. Or a dream.”He tightened his hold on my hand. “Then we’ll come back every year.”God. He always said things like that—like he planned on me being in every version of his future. It scared me sometimes…how serious he was. How much he loved me. And yet, it warmed me in a way nothing else ever had.“Look,” he said, pointing at a small booth with a handwritten sign that read ‘Aunty’s Island Mochi.’ “That’s what I wanted you to try. Local specialty.”I laughed. “You’ve b

(Vivian’s POV)Summer’s laughter echoed in my ears as she stood beside Willem, both of them waving at Kai and me with exaggerated grins. We had just stepped out of the car in front of the private terminal, our bags already taken by the attendant. The sun was warm on my skin, but it was Kai’s hand at the small of my back that made me feel secure.“Have fun, you two!” Summer called, throwing me a wink.Willem, ever the teaser, leaned against the car door.“Don’t forget to come back with little versions of yourselves running around, yeah?”My eyes widened. “Willem!”Kai just chuckled behind me. I turned to shoot him a glare,

(Kai’s POV)I pulled the car to a slow stop at a red light and turned to face her fully. “I try. I swear I do. But you didn’t see the way he looked at you. He’s not just some friend. He’s waiting for a chance. And I’m not going to give him one.”Vivian finally met my gaze, her eyes softening just a little. “I don’t want a chance with him, Kai. I chose you.”“Then let me protect what’s mine,” I said gently, lifting her hand to my lips and pressing a kiss to her knuckles. She stared at me for a moment, then exhaled slowly. “You didn’t have to come today.”“Yeah, I did,” I said quietly. “I needed him to see it. To se

(Vivian’s POV)Darius suddenly showed up at my office just after noon, knocking twice before poking his head in with that confident smile of his.“Hey,” he said, holding up a takeaway coffee. “Got a minute?”I set my pen down slowly and blinked. “Uh, sure.”“Lunch?” he asked, stepping fully into the room. “There’s this place a couple of blocks down. Quiet, cozy. I figured you’d want a break from your desk for once.”I hesitated. I wasn’t expecting him. Actually, I had already told Kai I’d have lunch with him. But Darius was standing there, smiling like an old friend, and honestly? It felt rude to refuse outright.“Alright,” I said, standing and grabbing my purse. “Just a quick one, though.”The restaurant was elegant and minimalistic. Darius had clearly chosen it for comfort and privacy. We ordered light meals, and the conversation flowed effortlessly—mostly small talk, him asking about work, me avoiding anything too personal. Then, I mentioned—offhandedly—that Kai and I were going to
