(Vivian’s POV)

"Is the situation bad?" I asked softly, sneaking a glance at Kai from the passenger seat.

His hand gripped the steering wheel tightly, his jaw tense, eyes locked straight ahead. That sharp, cold look on his face made the air feel suffocating. Even his driving was more aggressive than usual—each lane change swift, calculated, and borderline reckless.

Kai didn't answer immediately. He kept his eyes on the road but reached over to brush his fingers through my hair. That simple gesture—a feather-light stroke from the roots down to my shoulder—calmed me slightly, but it didn’t erase the storm brewing behind his gaze.

"I don't know," he muttered. "Peter only said someone brought muscle and started wrecking the place."

His voice was calm, but the rage simmered just beneath the surface. I could hear it, I could feel it.

I didn’t dare say much more. Not because I was scared of him, but because I knew Kai was the kind of man who needed silence when thinking. His bar—though only o

(Vivian’s POV)After the chaos eased, the bar felt quieter—except for the clatter of chairs being stacked and the murmur of staff cleaning up the damage. I found myself helping Kai push a heavy table back into place.Peter was nearby, teasing with a sly grin. “So, boss finally has a girlfriend, huh? You called her your woman. That’s a first.”I rolled my eyes but couldn’t suppress a soft smile. “Kai didn’t say girlfriend. It was... in passing.”Zoe, a waitress I’d chatted with before, laughed. “Right, but he didn’t correct you. That counts.”Her teasing was light, playful—no malice, but enough to sting a little. I glanced at Kai. He was calm, almost detached, stacking broken bottles onto a tray. He didn’t look at me.I met Peter’s gaze. “Hey,” I said softly. “I’m happy to help, seriously.”He smirked. “Sit down, Vivian. We’ve got it.” He waved toward a row of chairs.“I’d rather help,” I insisted, taking a box of empty bottles. “Point me to the broken ones.”Kai paused, glass in hand.

(Kai’s POV)"Home sweet home…"I opened the door wide and invited Vivian into the penthouse. With a guarded expression, she walked toward the sofa area. I quietly followed behind her, observing the exquisite form of Vivian. She looked at me."You changed it?" she asked, pointing to the L-shaped grey sofa I had bought some time ago.For no particular reason, I had bought it simply because I thought I needed something new. When my mind became entirely consumed by Vivian, I couldn't stop myself. That’s why I often did things that were completely out of character for me.Draining bottle after bottle of expensive wine from my collection, buying properties—anything to convince myself that I was still sane, even though I had already lost my mind. And Vivian… she was the only woman who had ever driven me to the point of purchasing a villa in Bali. All in the hope that I could go there and spend all my time with her.Letting her wear the sexiest bikini—one that only I would get to see and enjo

(Vivian’s POV)“Why are you like this, Kai?”I asked the question softly as I buckled my seatbelt, not even sure if I wanted an answer. I didn’t look at him. I just stared out the window, watching the city lights pass in a blur, my reflection faint against the glass. My heart was still pounding from what just happened back in the café, and my wrist still tingled from where he’d held me.He didn’t answer.Of course, he didn’t.I scoffed and turned to him. “I’m serious. One minute you’re silent for over a week like I never mattered, and the next you’re threatening my client like you have the right to control my life.”His knuckles tightened on the steering wheel. “I already explained.”“No, Kai. You made threats. You said you wanted me. But you still haven’t said why. What changed?”He sighed and glanced at me, his eyes dark under the dim lights of the dashboard. “You really want to know?”“Yes.” I folded my arms. “For once, give me something real.”“I couldn’t stand seeing you laugh wi

(Kai’s POV)“How have you been?” I asked, eyes fixed on Vivian as I took a slow sip of the coffee I had just ordered. She sat across from me with effortless elegance, even after the chaos that had unfolded just minutes earlier. It felt like my brain had short-circuited. The rules I had spent years building—discipline, distance, control—collapsed so easily, all because of this one woman. The same woman was now staring back at me with those emerald green eyes that had been haunting me.I had made a reckless decision—something completely out of character for me. Maybe it would become my greatest regret. Maybe it didn’t matter when it would hit me, because all I knew was that I would much rather see her naked in my bed, moaning from the pleasure only I could give her, than watch her wander around with another man.Fuck.Just thinking about it made my head boil like it was being cooked over an open flame. My grip tightened around the handle of the cup, and my temple twitches in frustration

(Vivian’s POV)“Where’s the answer? Why are you just silent?” I demanded, my voice sharp, my chest heaving as I faced him. He said nothing, just stared at me with a mocking gaze that made my skin crawl.I didn’t know where he came from with all the madness and arrogance he brought into my life. But after more than a week without seeing each other, without even exchanging a single message, why did it have to start like this? Why did we have to begin again with a fight?I had missed him—missed him to the point of madness. I craved to see that handsome face again, even if it looked so furious, so distant, so… proud. Why did he care so much about me meeting another man when he never had any intention of accepting my feelings in the first place? He treated my affection like it was disposable, like I was some stray dog chasing after its indifferent owner. But I’m not a poodle that clings even after being pushed away. I’m not a cat that keeps coming back to someone who clearly doesn’t want m
