INICIAR SESIÓN* PRESENT TIME *
|| SANCIA's POV ||
" Madam! We are all set! Do you have any more instructions?"
My best man, Leo notified me through the speaker. I looked around first and watched them all in places. Most likely we had the whole building in our control. I didn't find anything wrong but when it came to facing the Don of the mafia, even the best arrangements didn't assure me.
I replied with a low hum, carefully securing the gun underneath my Versace dress,
" Wait for my next command!"
Looking back to last year, everything still felt surreal to me. It was never in my plan to take the position of the new head of my husband's empire. After Viktor's demise, I took charge of myself and decided to put an end to those people who tore down my happy family. The pain was still there but I just forgot to remember them every day.
Vincenzo Russo threw an exaggerated party at this mansion today. He barely joined such gatherings. So, it was the best shot to finish my brother-in-law today. After successfully murdering my husband, he became the new don but to our family, he was just the enemy. Although no evidence was found regarding his involvement with Viktor's attack, everyone knew the truth especially when he announced himself as the new don the next day after Viktor's death. No one was there to challenge his position except Viktor.
I got out of my SUV elegantly. There was only one way to get close to Vincenzo Russo__ luring him. He was always into beauty. With the number of girls that he bedded every day, I wondered how many of his kids were already born behind everyone's eyes.
For the mission, I had to change my whole appearance today. My usually bonded hair was left hanging open today. Instead of wearing my black leather suit, I chose a customized red gown today. Thanks to their theme party, I got an eye mask of a butterfly shape to cover my face. It was indeed true that the gown fit well with my body. To become the Mafia boss, I had to maintain a good figure, stamina, and strength. My dad was still surprised that he couldn't find the innocent girl inside me anymore. I told him that the girl had died when she saw his husband and, her unborn child getting killed.
Walking past the crowd, I entered the building which was full of people. Although each one of them dressed well like a gentleman, everyone belonged to the dark Mafia society. Average people couldn't guess how cruel these people were here.
Those people didn't excite me. My eyes roamed across the party to find my target. It was more crowded than I expected. Naturally mob bosses avoided these parties because of their natural hiding nature. The meaning that they all had joined this party of Vincenzo Russo, had only one meaning that they had accepted Archer as their new don. It infuriated me since he stole the position from my late husband.
Ignoring the rage inside my mind, I continued to look around until it fell on a group of three men, the one who was holding the red wine.
VINCENZO!!
It was supposed to be him. Though we were practically families, we never met each other personally. The brothers avoided each other like a plague and refused to have any contact. The last time I asked Viktor about Vincenzo, he told me to shut the fuck up about the topic.
I made my way towards them slowly. It was undeniable to admit that Ajax was a temptation indeed. He didn't have any similar features to Viktor. His skin was a little tanned than Viktor's. His hair was trimmed short, almost showing off his blade scale. His hands were adorned with black and red tattoos. His eyes were grey and vacant. Even if I mistook everything, his signature silver earring on the left ear confirmed everything.
The more I walked to them, I felt the urge to pull out my gun. But it was not the perfect time. Just when I was four steps away from him, his grey eyes found mine. My feet froze for a second, almost getting caught. I didn't know why I reacted so fast but his gaze kept increasing the beat of my heart. Turning aside, I grabbed a wine glass to act innocent.
Those men were speaking in the Italian language. Hence, I failed to understand the meaning. The taste of loss was still alive in my skin. One month ago, we lost land over them which I desperately wanted for an orphanage. I grew an obsession with visiting orphanages ever since I lost my baby.
A sip from the wine soothed my mood. Flipping my hair back, I swayed my body to go over to him again. He caught the sight of mine but this time, I walked with confidence. The other men shot me a confused glance when I stopped right in front of Vincenzo, my enemy, my brother-in-law, and probably the only person that I hate the most in this world. I brought my best smile to my face, asking in a sweet, seductive voice,
" Would like to dance, Mr. Russo?"
Shit! That was a fucking bold move!
All the eyes snapped at me as if I had just murdered someone. I was pretty sure that no woman had ever dared to ask him for a dance. His right-handed man opened his mouth to say something but Vincenzo's cold, magnetic voice captured the attention first,
" Of course! I never refuse beauty!"
I smirked behind my mask. I didn't expect it to happen so fast but his men looked surprised as well. Vincenzo walked out of the men after finishing his rest over wine. As we came to the center of the dancing area, all the eyes were following us. I kept my posture confident and comfortable. One wrong move, I was going to be a dead body here.
Slow music started playing in the background. Vincenzo took the lead as he spread his arms to push me against him. A soft gasp left my lips. His muscles felt strong and taut underneath my touch. Our feet began to sway together, our faces were inches apart from each other. I could smell his gum flavors through his breath.
My lips quivered nervously. The way he was smirking all the time, I had a conflicted feeling about this. His voice whispered into my ears, clear enough to beat the tune of the song,
" What a brave soul you are! May I have your name, Miss? Not everyone has the guts to ask for my hand!"
I rolled my eyes secretly. Arrogance always ran through his veins. I heard about it many times until I witnessed it today. I whispered back to him, his hands came down to grip my waist,
" I have a lot of guts, Mr.Russo. You will see more."
His smirk turned into a malicious grin. Lifting my body in the air, he replied without breaking our eye contact,
" I love women with guts!"
I brought my hand up to wrap around his neck, our faces were close to each other again. My other hand traveled all over his chest, following down to his waist. I felt the sharp edge of the gun, feeling so hard and solid. Leaning close to his ears, I muttered in a seductive voice, hoping to take out his gun to kill him with it,
" And I love...men with guns..."
He let out a low growl when I was slightly teased with the gun, my touch bothering him. When the music died and I attempted to move away, he pushed me hard against his chest again. Pinning my hair behind the ears, I replied with a knowing smirk, his eyes flashing with a murderous gleam,
" You certainly have a lot of guts but you aren't good at hiding, SISTER-IN-LAW."
Chapter 71|| VINCENZO's POV ||The private room in the upscale restaurant was dimly lit, casting long shadows on the walls lined with expensive art. The scent of rich leather and fine cigars filled the air, mixing with the faint aroma of the exquisite meal we had just finished. It was a meeting like any other, yet the stakes were higher than usual. This was no ordinary business dinner; I was negotiating terms with a foreign Mafia gang, and the atmosphere was thick with unspoken threats and alliances.Kayla, my trusted aide, sat beside me, her eyes sharp and attentive. She was always a steady presence, her keen mind and quick thinking invaluable in situations like this. As the meeting progressed, I found myself relying on her more than usual, her calm demeanor a stark contrast to the tension in the room. The leader of the gang, a man named Viktor, finally leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. "It seems we have reached an understanding, Vincenzo. I believe this partnersh
Chapter 70|| VALERIA's POV ||The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a silvery glow over the expansive grounds of our estate. The cool breeze whispered through the trees, carrying with it the faint scent of blooming flowers. But I barely noticed any of it. My mind was a whirlwind of emotions—anger, sadness, and a deep sense of betrayal.Vincenzo's words still echoed in my ears, "You will go back in three months, Valeria, and you will marry Prince Aemond. This is not up for discussion."How could he? After everything I had told them, after baring my soul and explaining why I couldn't live that life, he had still decided my fate for me. It was as if my feelings, my desires, didn't matter at all. The weight of his decision pressed down on me, and I felt suffocated by the inevitability of it all.Desperate to escape, I found myself wandering towards the lake at the edge of our estate. It was a place of solace for me, a place where I could be alone with my thoughts. Tonight, it woul
Chapter 69In the heart of the grand library, surrounded by towering shelves of ancient tomes and the soft glow of candlelight, an argument was reaching its peak. The high, arched windows let in the faintest traces of the setting sun, casting long shadows across the room.Vincenzo's voice, usually calm and composed, was now tight with frustration. "How could you keep something like this from us, Valeria? From your own family?"Valeria, standing near the grand oak table in the center of the room, looked small and defiant, her eyes flashing with a mix of guilt and defiance. "I didn't think it was something you needed to know," she shot back, her voice trembling slightly.Sancia, who had been silent until now, finally found her voice. "Valeria, this isn't just about you. This affects all of us. We're your family. We deserved to know."Valeria turned to Sancia, her expression softening slightly. "I know, Sancia. But you don't understand. I never wanted this life. The palace, the titles, t
Chapter 68|| SANCIA's POV ||" You aren't hurt anywhere, my love?"Vincenzo asked me worriedly, his gaze lingering over my body. I shook my head with a smile and squeezed his palm to assure him. So Amara was the little princess of the house. She was too naughty and sneaked out of the room. Thankfully, I found her on time.We were walking back to the party when Kaja stopped sideways. He shot me a death look before sneering," What a good show, Mrs.Don! You two sure match each other!"He thought that I was trying to show sympathy for the prince. Vincenzo wanted to say something but I stopped him midway, sneering at Kaja's face," Someone like you will never know the value of family. Don't think that everyone is like you."Kaja had killed his father to get the throne. It was no secret to the Mafia world. His face darkened in anger after I told the truth on his face. Kaja huffed before walking away from us.Vincenzo dragged me to sit on the couch. He was still worried that I was hurt som
Chapter 67|| SANCIA's POV ||" What do you think? Do I look elegant?"I asked Vincenzo, battling my painted eyelashes. He swooped the magazine down, gazing at me from up to down. His eyes darkened a little, a mischievous glow gleaming from his eyes.Bending down, he replied, licking his lips slightly," It's perfect. You don't look like a Mafia princess."I rolled my eyes at his remark. Seriously, I didn't always look so scared. For today's event, I wore a navy blue gown, sleeveless, and the back portion was opened. Vincenzo wanted it elegant as the Royals preferred a certain type of clothing style. I chose to keep it simple and luxurious.Vincenzo sat up from his chair, growling after sneaking a look at my breasts," Go on, baby, or else I will fuck you right here."I bit my lips together seductively but didn't dare to provoke him. We were running late and today's party was the most important for us.We drove together for the party. As it was kept secret, no media was allowed. Even
Chapter 66|| ROSE's POV ||" What did I tell you, baby?"I looked down at my daughter scornfully. She was becoming useless day by day. Her eyes widened with fear when she listened to me. She gulped, her little lips quivering," Daddy promised that he would come back tomorrow."I burst into anger, raising my voice," HE LIES!! I told you to convince him to stay tonight. You can't even do this little thing for me. Why did I give birth to dumb girl like you?"She broke into tears silently, snuggling under the blanket. I glanced at the door carefully. Vincenzo had put many spies around here. It was hard to move around without being noticed. I hushed her quickly, sitting next to her head," Hush! Baby! Mommy was bad."I wish that I could give birth to a son. I bet that Vincenzo was refusing because she was a girl. He wanted her to be a princess instead of a king like him. Cecelia stopped crying but she still had fears in her eyes.I whispered into her ears, breaking into a menacing smile,
