Sienna’s POV

I stood at the window, arms folded tightly across my chest, staring out at nothing in particular. The city stretched before me, but all I saw was the weight of broken promises. I swore I would never come back here—yet here I was.

“Hungry?” His voice came from behind me, the same voice that had pulled me from the nightmare in that warehouse. Clara had escaped in the crossfire, but Nic had gotten me and my father out. My father was now recovering in the hospital, alive—thanks to him.

  • Owned by my boss    To the rescue

Hours later, the house was filled with detectives and FBI agents. People moved around constantly, talking in low voices, checking their phones, studying maps, and trying to put together every piece of information they had.But none of it mattered to me.I couldn’t sleep.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Chris. My baby.I kept imagining him somewhere alone, frightened and calling for me.Nic had reassured me several times that he was going to handle everything, but how was I supposed to sit down and sleep while my child was out there?“You need to sleep,” Nic said quietly, holding me. “I’ll handle everything.”I immediately pulled his hands away.“I can’t relax, Nic.”My voice broke.“Chris is out there. My poor baby… Has he eaten? Is he scared? How is Clara treating him?”The questions came rushing out of me before I could stop them.I covered my face as I quietly broke down.Nic didn’t say anything this time.Instead, he pulled me into his arms.“Shhh,” he whispered, rubbing my bac

Shock waves ran through my veins as the chaos spread across the room. Everything happened so fast that I could barely process what I was seeing.Earlier, Nic had pulled me out of the building because of the chaos that had broken out inside. As he dragged me away, I saw several dead bodies lying across the floor, but there was one body I desperately prayed I wouldn’t find.My baby’s.“Siena! Siena, are you okay?” Nic asked, pulling me out of my trance.I stared at him, unable to find the words to explain how I felt. How was I supposed to be okay?If only he had listened to me. Maybe my life wouldn’t have turned into this nightmare. Maybe my baby wouldn’t have been taken away from me by his venomous ex, a woman who wanted nothing but to destroy me and everything I had left.Tears stung my eyes as I looked away from him.“I’m not fine,” I finally said, my voice trembling. “How do you expect me to be okay? My child was taken away from me!”“Our child,” he corrected quietly.I immediately

Chapter “Right on time,” Clara said the moment I walked into the abandoned warehouse. I ignored the smug smile on her face and looked around frantically. My heart pounded against my chest. “Where is my son?” I demanded. “I don’t have time for your nonsense.” She folded her arms and tilted her head. “Not so fast, Anna.” Hearing her call me by the nickname she used years ago made my skin crawl. “I should be the one with the child,” she spat. “I should be the one with Nic, not you. You ruined my life.” Her voice dripped with hatred, but I refused to let her words get to me. “I’m not here to listen to your excuses,” I replied coldly. “Where is my son?” She laughed bitterly. “Excuses? Is that what you think they are?” “I don’t care what you call them. None of this is my fault. If your life fell apart, that’s on you.” Her expression darkened. “You stole everything from me.” “I stole nothing.” Before she could respond, a familiar voice echoed through the wareho

Pick up… pick up…” I muttered under my breath, pacing the length of the living room so many times I was sure I had worn a path into the marble floor.Clara’s line wasn’t going through. Not reachable. Not available. Not existing. My hands were shaking so badly I almost dropped the phone. The silence in the house felt wrong—too loud, too heavy. Police officers moved around, murmuring into radios. At the far corner, Nic stood with the detectives, speaking in a low, controlled voice like this was just another business crisis he could negotiate his way out of.This wasn’t business. This was my son.“Mum… where is Chris?”Ava’s tiny voice pierced through the noise.I froze. She stood near the staircase, clutching her stuffed rabbit, her wide eyes scanning the room. She was trying to be brave, but I could see the fear swimming in them.I swallowed the lump in my throat and forced a smile that felt like it cracked my face in half.“Baby, can you give Mum some time?” I said softly, patting her

SIENNA’S POVI walked out of the room where Nic had been sitting, feeling his gaze on me the entire time. I didn’t want to meet his eyes—didn’t want him to see the knot of panic twisting in my stomach. I had to handle this myself.I pulled out my phone, fingers trembling as I dialed Clara’s number. It rang once, twice… then connected.“Hey, bitch,” she sneered, her voice dripping with venom.“What do you want from me?” I asked, my voice steadier than I felt.“A lot,” she hissed. “And I’m sure you’re very much aware now. I’m taking back everything you stole from me.”“I never took anything from you,” I snapped, heat rising in my chest. “Stay the hell away from my family. I’m warning you, Clara!”She was about to speak again, probably to threaten me further, but I slammed the call button, cutting her off.I sank back into the chair, heart hammering, chest tight.“Clara… still threatening?”The voice startled me. Nova, leaning against the doorframe, her eyebrows raised in concern.“N… Ni

“Sienna, I want you to meet someone…” Nic says as he steps onto the balcony where I’m seated. The late afternoon sun spills across the marble floor, warm against my bare feet. I turn slowly, expecting one of his guards, maybe a business associate. But the moment my eyes land on the man standing behind him, my breath leaves my lungs.“Dad…” I whisper, the word breaking in my throat.I don’t remember standing. I only know I’m suddenly running—heart pounding, vision blurred—until I crash into his chest. His arms wrap around me tightly, desperately, like he’s afraid I’ll disappear if he loosens his grip.“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” he keeps murmuring against my hair. Over and over. Like a prayer. Like a punishment.Tears stream down my cheeks as I pull back slightly to look at him. I cup his face in my trembling hands, studying him carefully. He looks… healthy. Stronger. The hollowness that used to shadow his eyes is gone.Nic took care of him.“It’s not your fault,” I whisper, even though I
