Jamie paced the small dorm room, bare feet making light sounds the wooden floor. This would be the last time he would be in here.

Finally.

Boxes lay open on the floor as both he and his best friend, Lucas, stuffed their belongings into them. His red hair was mussed, freckles scattered across his cheeks, and his greenish eyes were alive with mischief.

“Lucas, I’m telling you, this trip is non-negotiable.”

Lucas, sitting cross-legged on the floor with a book, he gently placed in a nearly full book, glanced over the rim of his glasses. His blond hair caught the afternoon light, stormy blue eyes but always so calm , small mole beneath his right eye lending him a thoughtful air.

“Jamie, we just graduated. We need to look for jobs not plan trips?”

Jamie stopped mid-step, hands on his hips, and grinned crazily. Lucas sighed.

“Jobs? Who needs that anyways. Listen three months in Italy before we start corporate life, before we’re chained to emails and meetings and… and spreadsheets.” He flopped onto the floor beside Lucas, nudging him with his shoulder. “You remember what spreadsheets feel like, right? The soul-crushing kind?”

Lucas raised an eyebrow but didn’t reply. He picked up another book slowly, letting it cover rest in his lap.

“I remember. And I also remember you nearly setting your laptop on fire with that ‘study snack.’”

Jamie laughed, head tipping back, hair falling over exposing his forehead.

“Minor detail. The point is, we’ve been grinding for four years straight and with no breaks, no real fun. And you know what? I am not leaving this city without tasting some real adventure first.”

Lucas tilted his head, faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

“Adventure? You mean likely getting us arrested with your drunk driving.”

Jamie pouted

. “THAT WAS ONE TIME!!! Besides we have saved for this trip for years why are you backing out now?”

Lucas shook his head but couldn’t hide his fondness for his friend

“Of all places you chose Italy?”

Jamie raised a point finger as if to make a point

“ Specifically Sicily, a lot of beaches in between.  Cheap hotels, local food, maximum experience.” He leaned closer, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret. “I promise, it is like  nothing we’ve ever done. And I swear, I’ll even try not to get us lost—or arrested.”

Lucas chuckled softly, closing his eyes for a moment. “And you’re sure about this timing? Flights, accommodation, jobs waiting… what about interviews?”

Jamie waved a hand dismissively, bouncing lightly on the balls of his feet again. “Interviews can wait. We’ve earned this. Look, three months of pure freedom before life sucks us dry. That’s all I’m asking.”

Lucas leaned back, arms crossed, scanning Jamie’s expressive face—the freckles, the mischievous grin, the energy that seemed to hum even when he was still. Jamie always had this way of filling a room with chaos and charm at once. Quiet people like Lucas were supposed to resist chaos. But there was something magnetic about Jamie that made resistance… difficult.

Jamie caught Lucas watching him and grinned wider.

“You know you want to. You’re thinking about it. Don’t lie.”

Lucas’s lips twitched, but he shook his head. “I’m considering it. But it feels…. I don’t even know if I’m ready for three months away from everything I know.”

Jamie scooted closer, resting his elbow on Lucas’s shoulder. “Exactly why we need it. We have been living in books and libraries and labs for the past four years. You need… the world. And me. I’m part of the package, whether you like it or not.”

Lucas raised an eyebrow, a small smile now fully forming. “You’re terrible at convincing me.”

Jamie leaned back dramatically, flipping his hair out of his eyes. “Terrible? You love me”

Lucas sighed, closing his eyes. “I… suppose a short trip wouldn’t hurt.”

Jamie leapt to his feet, hair bouncing, eyes sparkling. “You’ll thank me later, trust me.”

Lucas watched him pacing again, the familiar impulsive energy, the way Jamie’s hands waved dramatically as he talked, the way he seemed half chaotic, half brilliant. There was no arguing with it. He closed his eyes, letting the thought settle. “Fine. three months.”

Jamie whooped, spinning in a small circle, nearly colliding with the coffee table. “Two months! Yes! I knew you’d see sense eventually!” He flopped back onto the floor, nudging Lucas with an elbow. “Pack light. Bring sunscreen. And don’t forget your hat this time—you burn faster than when I fry and egg.”

Lucas smirked, shaking his head. “I suppose I should be grateful you’re organized about something.”

Jamie laughed, leaning over to nudge him again, then flopped back dramatically, staring at the ceiling. “

Lucas studied him for a long moment, taking in Jamie’s freckled face, tousled red hair, the way his greenish eyes always seemed to dance with mischief and unreadable emotion. He didn’t admit it, but he was looking forward to it—the chaos, the impulsiveness, the freedom Jamie promised. They met at the beginning of freshman year and have been inseparable ever since.

Outside, the Pacific shimmered under the late afternoon sun. The air smelled of salt and eucalyptus, and the world felt vast and waiting. Jamie tapped Lucas lightly on the shoulder. “Come on, Luke. Let’s start this adventure before adulthood crushes us completely.”

Lucas finally laughed, shaking his head, a reluctant but genuine smile on his face. “You’re impossible.”

Jamie just beamed. “Exactly why you love me.”

  • POSSESSION: Hate Me   CHAPTER 8

Jamie had always imagined Italy differently. Sun-drenched beaches, quiet cafes, historical streets… yes. But nightlife? Clubs pulsing with music, lights flashing like a storm across the dance floor? That was something he hadn’t fully envisioned. Until now.“I’ve been dying to go to a club here,” Jamie admitted, voice rising above the ambient hum of the car engine. His greenish eyes sparkled, freckles standing out against the warm glow of streetlights. “And you promised, Matteo. Tonight’s the night.”Matteo, ever calm, ever measured, smirked from the driver’s seat, dark sunglasses reflecting the city lights. “I know. And I intend to deliver.”Jamie grinned, bouncing slightly in the seat. “I trust you. Just don’t… you know, embarrass me.”Matteo’s lips twitched upward in the faintest smirk. “I think I should be the one telling you that.”The club was hidden behind an unmarked door along a narrow Sicilian street, illuminated by faint neon lights. As they entered, the bass hit Jamie like

The late afternoon sun spilled over the Sicilian coast, casting warm light across the a sleek black car. As Matteo’s car cut sharply down the winding road, black and silent. His jaw was tight, dark eyes hidden behind sunglasses, fingers drumming lightly on the steering wheel.Jamie had been dropped off at the mansion just moments ago, his cheeks still flushed from laughter and adrenaline, oblivious to the storm brewing in Matteo’s mind.Matteo’s teeth clenched. How dare anyone try to lay a hand on him. The thought was sharp, cold, and immediate. The amusement park, the teasing, the fun—it was supposed to be controlled, enjoyable. Yet someone had tried to hurt Jamie. A junkie. A fool.He arrived at a secluded villa on the outskirts of town, where the man had been held by his discreet operatives. The junkie was tied to a chair, shaking, eyes darting, realizing immediately the man entering was not one to joke with.“Who sent you?” Matteo’s voice was low, controlled—but every word was a b

The sunlight was bright, warm, and almost intoxicating as Jamie and Matteo stepped out of the sleek black car onto the cobblestone entrance of the amusement park. The air was thick with the smell of popcorn, cotton candy, and sunblock. Children’s laughter and the distant roar of roller coasters filled the space.Jamie’s sneakers squeaked against the pavement as he spun around, soaking in the scene. “This is insane,” he said, eyes wide. “I haven’t been to an amusement park in… forever.”Matteo followed calmly, sunglasses shading his dark, sharp eyes. Every so often, he’d tilt his head slightly, scanning the crowd, subtle and deliberate, posture rigid despite the casual tee and jeans he wore. Jamie noticed, curiosity piqued.“You’re… very watchful,” Jamie said casually as they walked past a carousel. “Is that… normal for you?”Matteo’s lips curved into the smallest smirk. “Always.” His voice was smooth, measured, teasing but dangerous in tone. “You never know what’s going to happen. Or

“ How dare you make such a decision without even asking me?” Lucas whisper yelled at Jamie.Although they were alone he didn't want anyone hearing them.“ We dont even know anything about them!” Lucas continued.“umm.. yes we do. We know they are the owners of Unflix! Where would we get the chance to meet people like them again?” Jamie was also angry. He wondered why Lucas wanted to pass up such a huge opportunity like this. He wasn't going to let him.Lucas groaned. “ Havent you watched any movies about billionaires? They eat people!”The stared at each other for a moment before bursting into laughter.“ I did this for us okay? We don't have to spend any more money on this vacation and live in a mansion. For free!” Jamie continued.“ And you think theres no catch?” Lucas asked in a small voice.Jamie shrugged. “ Well I think Enzo likes...you.”“ WHAT?” Lucas voice rang out. His blue eyes wide and his mouth agap.“ I mean only a fool wouldnt see it from the way he looks at you.”“ We

Jamie woke up on clouds. After using the well equipped bathroom and looking through the massive closet for a shirt that could fit him he went to look for Lucas. Luckily he didn't have to go far.Lucas sat on the edge of the plush sofa, ankle elevated on a cushion, pale against the deep green fabric. His stormy blue eyes followed Jamie as his friend paced into room, he had been doing this for the past hour. This was the longest time he had seen Jamie not talking. The sprain had immobilized him for at least five days—maybe a week—leaving him dependent, frustrated, and more aware than ever of how impulsive Jamie could be. He stared at the bandage that was wrapped tightly around his ankle by Enzo.“So when are we leaving, we cant just take advantage of their hospitality” Lucas didn't add that they felt dangerous. He left it unsaid hanging over the air.Jamie sighed loudly running his hand across his face. “ We cant leave yet... Matteo said he wanted to speak with us. I guess they think

  • POSSESSION: Hate Me   CHAPTER 3

Jamie’s walked meekly behind Matteos. His back was so broad and he could probably snap him if half if he tried. The mansion was enormous, impossibly silent except for the distant hum of some unseen appliance. Moonlight rays streamed through the towering windows, dust motes floating lazily in the rays. Every surface was pristine, gleaming, too perfect. It made Jamie feel… small.Matteo walked without looking back, like he expected Jamie to follow, the quiet control in his movements impossible to ignore. Even in his casual motion, there was a precision that made Jamie’s chest tighten. His pitch-black hair was neatly combed, the faint shadow of stubble along his jaw lending him a rugged, dangerous appeal. A silver cross glinted at his neck, catching the light with every slight turn of his head.Jamie tugged at the hem of his t-shirt, his usual cheeky grin not gracing the corners of his lips. He tried to match his energy with Matteo’s stillness, but it felt impossible. Every glance Matteo
