My mother and I pushed ourselves, slaving away to pay for my girlfriend’s debt. The work was too hard on her, and she was soon diagnosed with lung cancer. By the time I arrived at the hospital with money for her treatment, my mother had taken her own life and left behind a note. “I can’t go on, Gab. The money is best put toward settling the debts. Noelle is a good kid. She loves you. She’s just lost her way. That’s all. You two should settle down once the debts are cleared.” I held my mother’s ashes and gave Noelle the thirty thousand dollars she had left behind. Back in the office, I overheard Noelle talking to several creditors. “Ms. Strom, Mr. Lamb has passed your test. What’s next on the agenda for him?” Noelle’s childhood friend, Charles, jumped into the conversation. “Gabriel has proven that he’s willing to be there for you through thick and thin, but will he stick around in wealth? Noelle pursed her lips. “I need to know if he genuinely loves me. If he isn’t blinded by greed when learning about who I am, I’ll marry him.” I stared at my mother’s ashes, tears rolling down my face. “Noelle, my mother was wrong about you, and so was I. I don’t want to marry you anymore.” I thought to myself.

Chapter 1

Twenty five years ago, the veil between worlds cracked open, and the darkness didn’t wait for an invitation.

It began in the Grove of Verenya, deep in the wilds of Montana. Beneath a silver moon, witches gathered to perform a forbidden ritual, an ancient sealing meant to close the thinning rift between Earth and the hell realm. At the center stood Liandra Valen, High Priestess of the Silver Flame. Proud. Brilliant. Reckless.

She meant to save the world.

Instead, she doomed it.

The ritual backfired. The ground split open like a festering wound. Something crawled through.

Not a demon, something older. A shadow that whispered in languages no god dared speak. A hunger that craved power, not flesh. It vanished into the night like smoke.

Liandra collapsed, her eyes glowing silver. Her body spasmed as divine power seized her throat and forced her to speak a prophecy.

“A wolf shall rise in white furred flame…

Born of shadow, forged in pain…”

She gasped her last breath as her skin cracked with moonfire. Her soul was burned clean by Selene herself.

And the shadow she accidentally unleashed found its host.

Marik Vane, Alpha of the Bloodmark Pack.

The Rise of a Monster

Marik had once been a cold but calculated Alpha. Dangerous, but loyal.

The shadow changed him.

He grew crueler and hungrier. Began dealing in forbidden magic. Trafficking humans and supernatural children through secret networks. Smuggling guns and running drugs through wolf controlled territories. What had once been a sacred pack became an empire of corruption.

He married a woman just as wicked.

Danika Vane, his Luna, ran the trafficking ring with a smile and a blood red manicure. Their children, Kade and Saria, grew up as wolves of wealth and entitlement, untouched by conscience.

And when Marik wanted to wipe out the last of the Moon blessed wolves?

Danika handed him the map.

The Seralyn Pack, white furred healers born under Selene’s light, were slaughtered in one night. A sacred bloodline turned to ash.

Or so they thought.

The Moon’s Hidden Flame

She was only thirteen.

Daeira Seralyn, youngest daughter of the Alpha, was playing in the gardens that night. Chasing fireflies. Hiding from her lessons.

She heard the first scream and ran. Through the gates. Into the trees. Until her lungs burned and her feet bled.

Selene found her in the dark. Moonlight split the branches.

The goddess knelt beside the shaking girl and pressed a glowing hand to her forehead.

“You are not ready.

So I will take your pain.

Your name.

Your fire.

Until the time comes to burn it all down.”

Daeira closed her eyes, and when she woke… She remembered nothing but her first name.

When a Bloodmark patrol found her days later, she was starved and filthy. They asked for her name.

Something inside whispered a warning.

“Dee,” she said.

Not Daeira. Never Daeira.

The Slave Who Watched

They threw her in the orphanage like trash. Mistress Caldra ran it like a prison. No love. No kindness. Just lashes and locked doors.

At fifteen, Dee was transferred to the Alpha’s estate to serve.

The Luna hated her. The children beat her behind closed doors. Saria clawed her face once just for breathing too loudly. Kade kicked her in the ribs for not calling him “Alpha” fast enough.

And Marik? He didn’t see her at all. To him, she was dust on the floor. A stray. A nothing.

But Dee? She watched. She listened. She learned.

She ran errands for the Luna, delivered packages, and overheard meetings. Moved between shadows. They thought she was too broken to care, too weak to understand.

They were wrong.

She mapped the entire operation. Every warehouse. Every drop point. Every name.

Drugs. Guns. Girls. Even children.

She smiled. She obeyed. And she gathered evidence like teeth in a jar.

At night, she trained in silence. Stole food to stay strong.

Learned how to take a hit and hide the bruise. Prepared for the day her name would return to her lips like a blade.

Because the Moon had not forgotten. Her wolf had not died. And Daeira Seralyn was still alive, buried beneath chains, rage, and divine fire.

And soon?

The wolves who built their empire on her family’s bones would learn what happens when you raise a weapon by accident.
