Chapter 20

“Sum, after we get married, I’ll bring you to Sea City to watch the first snow by the ocean.

‘Summer, as long as I’m around, I’ll always spoil you like a princess.

“Summer, I love you…”

Outside Sea City, Summer was standing at the edge of Eternity Bridge.

There was a thick layer of glistening snow beneath her feet, but the surface of the water was like a black hole that sucked in all the snowflakes that fell on it.

“Who are you?” Summer asked herself in a soft voice as she raised her hand and grasped the railing, which was covered in snow.

Even though her life before the accident was a blank piece of paper in her mind, Summer felt that she had forgotten someone who was very important.

......

At the Ardly family’s mansion.

Samson had been submerged in the swimming pool for a very long time, and his cell phone, which was placed beside the pool, had been vibrating non-stop.

It had been three minutes and twenty seconds.

Samson rose from the pool and looked at the timer on the screen of his cell phone. He was emanating a very cold aura as he picked up the call. “You better be telling me something important.”

Today marked one year since Summer was kidnapped and “dismembered”.

There was a burning rage in Samson’s heart, and things would not end well for whoever dared to try and provoke him today.

“Young master! We have obtained the CCTV footage of the SN flagship store and sent it to you. That… That woman seems to be Miss Plath!”

His cell phone fell to the floor with a thud.

Samson picked up his cell phone in a flurry, and his fingers were numb as he opened the footage.

“Sum!”

......

At Sea City Hospital.

“Jasper, where is Summer!? What have you said to her!?” Adrian barged into Victoria’s ward. He raised his hand and grabbed Jasper by the collar.

“It doesn’t matter to me whether she’s dead or alive.” Jasper furrowed his eyebrows and forcefully shoved Adrian away. “Aren’t you overreacting a little?”

Adrian froze for a moment. Only then did he realize that he had indeed lost his composure.

“Summer’s gone. I’m worried that she’s taking things too hard.”

“This has nothing to do with me…” Jasper avoided Adrian’s gaze and turned to look at Victoria, who was still unconscious. His palms had begun to sweat a little.

“Jasper, do you really not have the slightest bit of feelings for her?” Adrian asked in a hushed tone and tapped Jasper’s shoulder. “Don’t regret this.”

Jasper froze for a moment. After staying silent for a while, he ran out of the ward together with Adrian.

At the bridge.

Summer carefully climbed over the railings and gazed at the surface of the water as she stood on the edge of the bridge.

Her baby was gone.

Jasper no longer wanted her either.

She had no memories to call her own.

She had no family.

She was actually really envious of Victoria. Even though Victoria had been away from the country for four years, Jasper had never forgotten about her.

And the thing was, she could tell that Victoria did not actually love Jasper that much.

Summer chuckled in a self-deprecating manner, and she almost fell off the edge because of how slippery the snow beneath her feet was.

“Summer!” Adrian and Jasper had found her, and there was panic in their voices.

“Summer, what game are you trying to play this time!?” Jasper clenched his fists tightly. He was actually nervous and afraid… For the entire year, Summer had been so obedient.

“Come over here. I’ll take you home.”

Summer turned to glance at Jasper. Bring her home?

Such an absurd promise.

This was what Jasper had said to her last year, and because of this, she followed her home, losing her body and her heart after having done so.

“Jasper, I don’t love you anymore. Not in this life, and not in the next life either. I’ll never love you again.” Summer said with a smile as tears glistened in her eyes.

Jasper stood rooted to his spot and felt as though his heart had been hit by something heavy.

The moment Summer said that she did not love him anymore, was when he became horribly terrified.

Summer had always been so meek and obedient.

He could bully her and humiliate her as much as he wanted to...

“Summer! Please listen and come over here.” Adrian’s face was a little pale, and there was a tremble to his voice.

‘Don’t die…’

The incident from three years ago flashed past Adrian’s mind, which gave him a headache. He raised his hand to press his forehead and was breathing rather rapidly.

“Little rabbit be obedient and don’t jump off the edge. Since you don’t love him anymore, you can stay with me from now onward. I’ll take care of you.”

Summer glanced at Adrian and shook her head with a smile. “Thank you, doctor.”

“Summer!”

The sudden weightlessness made Summer lose her breath.

As she plunged into the water, she caught a glimpse of the panic and anxiety in Jasper’s eyes.

He did not care whether she was dead or alive. So why was there a regretful expression on his face?

*Plunge!*

The water gushed into her ears and nostrils.

Summer felt her body heating up horribly.

“Summer, I like Samson. Can you let me have him?”

“Who do you think you are? Why would I, Summer Plath, let you have my boyfriend?”

......

“Your name is Victoria Dawn, isn’t it? Let me warn you. You’d better not cross the line, or else I’ll show you that I’m not someone you can mess with!”

It was as if countless memories had suddenly burst through a haze of smoke and they began flooding into her mind.

She remembered!

“Samson, Summer hit me…” Victoria cut a pitiful sight as she stood before Summer. She looked just like how she did after she had pulled Sumer into the pool.

“Yeah, I hit you. So what?”

“Sum don’t dirty your hands by hitting her. Next time, just ask your subordinates to do stuff like this!”

......

“Sum!”

*Plunge!* Someone had jumped into the river with a splash.

Just as Summer was about to completely suffocate, a warm and familiar voice called out her name with urgency.

“Sum!”
