Chapter 1 Who Was That Man Last Night?!

[Miss Jenna Radcliff, your husband is with another woman in room 2588 of the Orchid Pavilion Hotel.]

Jenna turned the screen of her phone off as she waited for the elevator to rise.

She had been on a business trip to Munich for the past month and received that baffling text just as she was returning.

At first, she thought it was somebody’s prank on her and simply ignored it. However, after she landed, she found she could not get through to her husband’s phone despite calling multiple times and that his phone’s GPS was fixed at the Orchid Hotel.

It was then she panicked.

When she reached the door to room 2588, Jenna noted with a weird feeling that the door was half-open.

With a vigorous push from behind, she stumbled into the dark room. Managing to steady herself, a hot body suddenly leaned over and pressed her against the door.

“Honey?” Jenna called out uncertainly.

The other party did not reply, and in the darkness, unerringly found Jenna’s lips and kissed her fiercely and eagerly.

With the half-open door and the kiss immediately after she entered, Jenna quickly connected the dots. She assumed it was probably Shawn’s orchestration to tease her after having been apart from each other for so long.

Thus, she let her guard down and embraced the man, responding sweetly to him.

When Jenna awoke, the sky was already shining brightly through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The arm left uncovered was covered with love bites, and her body was still sore, but she felt pleased in her heart.

She had been married to Shawn Sadler for a year. However, due to work, they were often apart and had not consummated their marriage.

Last night, they finally did.

“Honey…”

Jenna turned over and was about to scold her husband for organizing such a terrifying surprise when she noticed the space beside her was empty. It was devoid of any lingering warmth, meaning the man was long gone.

On the bed was a pendant from Tiffany's "Flawless Lovers" collection, a collector's item.

Fortunately, this man knew to leave her a gift.

Jenna smiled. Just as she picked up the pendant and put it on, the closed door suddenly kicked open. A crowd of reporters holding DSLRs rushed in, surrounding the bed.

Click! Click! Click!

The flashes of the camera mercilessly snapped away at Jenna’s half-exposed body.

“Miss Jenna Radcliff, you’ve just returned from a business trip, yet already boldly checked into a hotel to rendezvous with your lover. Does this mean your relationship with Mr. Shawn Sadler has broken down?”

“Have you guys divorced in secret?”

“Miss Radcliff, please answer our questions!”

Jenna was speechless.

The suddenness of the reporters barging in and the maliciousness of the insistent questions caught Jenna off guard, and she could not help but fall back.

Her thin body leaned against the head of the bed, her face filled with panic.

“W-what are you talking about? I was with my husband last night!” Jenna pulled up the thin blanket to cover herself thoroughly and pointed towards the door. “Get out!”

“Jenna Radcliff!”

Right at that moment, a cold and angry voice cut in.

Darkness swam before Jenna’s eyes, and when she finally raised her head, she saw her husband standing before her. His face lacked his usual kind and gentle expression and was replaced with contempt.

“Honey! You came right on time.” Jenna did not bother to ask why he left so early, and his current expression did not seem right either. She crawled over to grab his arm. “Wasn’t last night all a surprise you prepared for me? These reporters are slandering me of adultery—”

Before she could finish her sentence, a heavy and forceful slap descended upon her face.

The impact of the hit caused her to fall onto the bed, stunned.

Shawn Sadler ruthlessly flung a stack of photos at Jenna’s face. The sharp edges of the photos grazed her face, causing blood to immediately well up.

“See you at the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning, 9 a.m.!”

His voice was cold to the point of freezing. He turned to leave the moment the words left his mouth, as if looking at her for even a second more was disgusting.

Jenna held the side of her tingling and aching face and looked at one of the photos that had landed right in her line of sight. It was of a man leaving room 2588. While the photo only captured his side profile, it was enough to show that it had not been Shawn Sadler after all.

The time of departure was this morning at around six!

Jenna grabbed the picture to look at it closely, trembling all over.

That man last night was not Shawn Sadler!
