Chapter 8 Shawn Sadler, You Really Are Cruel

Just as the car was about to collide with Jenna, someone rushed out from the side and gave her a fierce pull.

The car brushed past them and quickly disappeared.

“Miss Radcliff, it’s not worth dying for a man.” The person who had saved her was the driver, Sam. “If you die, who will take care of your grandmother?”

A few slivers of sense returned to the disoriented Jenna. That was true—if she died, what about Grandmother?

Soon, a car made its way over. Sam pulled open the door to the backseat and invited her into the car. “My employer would like to meet with you. He can give you everything you need.”

“He might be able to give me what I want, but what can I give him?” Jenna laughed bitterly.

She was not stupid. She did not assume that just because that man had unwittingly taken her virginity, he would keep helping her unconditionally.

Especially now that her reputation was shattered to pieces, and she had nothing to her name.

Jenna hugged herself and whispered, “Thank you for saving me and thank your employer too, but I don’t want to throw away even the last bit of my dignity.”

Seeing Jenna’s appearance, Sam did not say anything further and merely handed her a business card sandwiched between two fingers. “Miss Radcliff, this is my phone number. If you need to, call me.”

“Thank you.” Jenna distractedly took the business card from him and turned to walk away.

Soon, Sam returned to Sparrow Garden. Once met with Quinn Forester, he relayed Jenna’s words to him and said, “Sir, that car was aimed at Miss Radcliff.”

Quinn’s gaze darkened. “Look into it and send some men to keep an eye on her safety.”

That woman’s pride needed to be grounded a little.

Jenna went to the hospital.

After her cardiac arrest, Irene lay on the hospital bed for a few days before quickly taking off the oxygen mask.

Although she could not get out of bed, her mental state was a lot better.

“Grandmother.” Jenna forced a smile and walked into the hospital room. “How are you feeling?”

“Much better.” Irene took one look at Jenna and knew right away that she had cried. She immediately frowned. “You went to see Shawn. Did he bully you?”

Jenna shook her head and went over to hold Irene’s hand. “No, I was just very worried for you. Grandmother, you must stay well.”

Perhaps it was due to Jenna’s great acting that her grandmother did not doubt her. “Jen, you should find a chance to divorce Shawn. That man is a blackhearted ingrate. If he could steal the company, he definitely won’t show you any mercy!”

“Okay…”

Irene still did not know that Jenna had been cheated out of everything she had by Shawn and had even found out the truth behind her parents’ deaths.

For a few days, Jenna stayed at the hospital with her grandmother. She would find opportunities to meddle with the television in the hospital room and avoid letting her watch the news. She did not even allow the hospital staff to pass Irene a newspaper.

Watching her grandmother slowly recover, Jenna gradually began to smile and finally felt like she was still alive.

On that day, the helper at home called Jenna. “Miss, a lot of people came to the house and are moving things around everywhere—”

Before they could finish what they were saying, the line cut off.

Jenna called a cab and hurriedly rushed to Northam Villa. It was a mess everywhere, and quite a few men were packing away the expensive antiques and paintings.

Meanwhile, men searching for things on the second floor directly threw unwanted items down the stairs for convenience’s sake.

Before long, two memorial tablets were thrown down.

Jenna rushed forward but was still a step too late. Due to the great impact, her parents’ memorial tablets cracked.

She held the memorial tablets in her arms, her eyes red.

Jenna raised her head to look at the workers, seething. “Aren’t you afraid of the divine retribution for causing damage to others’ memorial tablets?!”

“Our client said we could do as we liked with the unwanted items.” The worker, frightened by her, quickly left.

“Mom, Dad, I’m sorry…” Jenna wiped away the dirt on the memorial tablets, her tears dripping onto them. When she spoke, her teeth chattered.

You really are cruel, Shawn. You killed my parents, and now you won’t even let their memorial tablets go!
