As soon as Kelly got to the hospital she burst through the hospital doors and rushed down the hallway to her brother's room in the children's ward with the cake and comic present she had gotten for him.

As she approached, she could see the worry etched on the faces of the doctors and nurses surrounding him. Her heart pounding in her chest, she pushed her way through the crowd and came to a stop at the foot of the bed.

She could see her mom seating next to her dear brother, lying motionless, hooked up to a plethora of machines and monitors. The sight was overwhelming, and Kelly could feel her eyes welling up with tears. She took a deep breath and slowly walked to the side of the bed, dropping the items she was carrying on the locker next to her brother's bedside.

As she stood there, Kelly could read the panic written all over her mom's face. She knew her mom would be in pain.
