Chapter 68

Irene stopped dead in her tracks with her father trailing behind when she noticed that the sound of the gunshot was not just in her neighbourhood, but was close enough for the proprietor to be right at her doorstep.

The rate of her heartbeat increased ten fold and panic struck her together with trepidation. Immediately without needing anyone one to tell her, she searched her eyes around the room looking for another passage way to escape from the hall in order to not fall into the hands of a cutthroat.

Liam, who was a bit conscious, now pulled her with him into the closest room, which ended up being the storage room of their little abode. It had an old rusted door knob which had never been changed ever since the house was built forty years ago before he bought and moved in with his wife many years later to begin a journey of a beautiful family.
