I Want You, Sora Raine

Sora

“What are we doing here?” I look around the place; it’s a hotel, but not quite one, if that makes any sense.

Kade, unsurprisingly, ignores me and makes his way to the entrance, leaving me to either follow behind or go back.

But here’s the thing: he’s well aware I will follow him because as much as I know Cam won’t kick me out, I can’t deal with being next to him either.

“Are you going to ignore me our entire ride here?” I ask again as we step into the elevator, but yeah, just as I suspected, he is still quiet.

What the fuck is wrong with him?

Wasn’t he the one teasing me all night? Even the ride down here had been rather fun, so where is this switch coming from?

I want to punch him square in the face and not give a shit about his silent treatment, but I cannot.

I hate that he is ignoring me.

I don’t know why, but it makes me want to cry. Want to scream.

The feeling crawls under my skin the longer he stays quiet.

Did I say something wrong?

No.

Maybe.

Fuck.

Great, now I’m replaying every conversation we’ve had in my head like some lunatic trying to find the exact moment everything went wrong.

Was it the kiss?

The ultimatum?

The fact that I agreed to the bet?

Or maybe he finally realized I’m not worth the trouble.

The thought punches me so hard in the chest that I actually have to look away from him.

Stupid.

This is stupid.

I’ve known him for less than a day.

Less than a day and somehow this whole silent treatment game is driving me insane, much more than Cameron’s lack of trust.

Okay, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I push him deeper into the elevator until his back is pressed against the metal.

My fingers poke at his chest. “What.” poke. “The.” poke. “Is.” poke. “Your—”

He grabs my wrist, stopping my pokes, but that doesn’t deter me. I kick his knees, making him buckle to the floor.

“Problem.”

I smile triumphantly, arms crossed. Kade just stares at me, then the floor, and back at me, still very much quiet.

I can’t even tell what he is thinking; his face is blank and oh my goodness, this is driving me insane. Kade is driving me insane.

“Why are you mad at me?”

He shrugs on his knees. That’s his answer. A fucking shrug.

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed about Kade, it’s that the man despises standing. Any opportunity to sit, lie down, crouch, or kneel, and he’ll take it without hesitation.

“You said I wasn’t a terrible kisser, so why are you ignoring me now?”

Again, more silence.

Fine.

Anger bubbles deep in my bones. If he wants to act like a bitch, I’ll show him how to be one.

I spin around and smack the red emergency stop button.

The elevator jolts violently before grinding to a halt.

“If you don’t speak to me,” I tell him sweetly, leaning against the elevator doors, “then we might as well spend the night here.”

His brows shoot up. “I don’t mind as long as I get to sleep.”

“Kade,” I warn, “what was it about being transparent, or does that only work when it’s convenient for you?”

He gets off his knees and sits in a crisscross position, looking up at me, and oh boy, my hands itch to ruffle his hair. It’s not my fault; he looks like a really cute poodle.

“I am not upset or ignoring you,” he drawls. “I haven’t had the chance to rest in a while, and today was kind of a long day, don’t you think?”

I hadn’t thought about that. With the whole Cameron thing, I’d been so busy feeling sorry for myself that it never occurred to me Kade might actually be exhausted.

Shit, I’m certain he doesn’t want to fake date anymore. Way to go, Sora.

“I’m sorry. I just—”

“It’s fine,” he leans back, resting on the metal and closing his eyes.

I stare at him, his features burning at the back of my mind. I don’t understand why men are built prettily.

This sicko has the healthiest, longest eyelashes I’ve ever seen in my life, and looking at them makes me want to crawl into his lap and pepper kisses from his forehead to his lashes and then—

Woahhh, I shake my head, hoping the thoughts will leave, but it grows even stronger.

“Come sit with me.”

I hit the button again, feeling the soft buzzing of the elevator before indulging Kade and sitting next to him.

“What?” I ask, my eyes trained on the door.

“I want you to understand one simple thing about this bet we have, Sora.”

I turn my attention slowly to him. This is the first time I’ve heard him call my name without that teasing tone or in a genuinely serious manner.

“What bet?”

“This relationship.” He shifts against the wall, finally looking at me. “I know you’re doing this because of Cameron and a few bucks, but I need you to understand that I’m not in this only to clear the allegations.”

A strange feeling pools at the depths of my stomach.

“Then why are you doing it?”

His gaze drags over my face before settling back on my eyes.

“Because I want you, Sora Raine.”

That is fucking ridiculous. We’ve known each other for less than a day. No one ever wants someone that quickly.

Right?

Kade’s mouth curves into something dangerously close to a smile.

“And unlike you, I’m not pretending otherwise.”

Sora The elevator dings open before a witty retort or better yet an objection can leave my mouth and just like that the moment shatters. Miraculously, bubbly Kade is back, looking entirely too pleased with himself for a man who just confessed to wanting me. “Welcome to my home, Shadow,” he says as he sweeps an exaggerated arm toward the hallway beyond the elevator. “Kind of sorry it’s empty right now, as you know I just got back into town.” “So we are just going to pretend the elevator didn’t happen?” I ask, watching him carefully. “Leave the things that happen in the elevator in the elevator,” he replies easily like it means absolutely nothing before disappearing through the door beside the hallway. I linger there for a moment caught between following him and standing around uselessly before he returns with two glasses of orange juice. He hands one to me and I eye it warily. “Don’t worry, it’s not drugged,” he says and to prove it he takes a sip from both glasses, lif

  • Playing Fake With Kade Black    A Terrible Kisser

Kade Ever felt darkness, and a year’s worth of anger being dragged out of you from just a measly kiss? That is how I feel right now, with Sora’s lips on mine. Fuck. Me. My cock twitches in my pants and I blank the fuck out. Hold it together, little man, it’s just a fucking kiss, not a full blown make out session. My hands stay stiffly by my side, confused on where to actually put them. Her waist? Back? Neck? I wasn’t a teenage boy with zero experience, so why the fuck was this hard for me? Sora pulls away from me, her lips swollen and pink from the kiss. “That’s not how to kiss your girlfriend, now is it?” “I should be suing you for sexual harassment. You didn’t ask for consent and I never agreed to date you.” My hands settle around her waist almost on instinct. Her eyes flick toward the empty space behind me before returning to mine, a triumphant smile spreading across her face. My stomach drops. Fuck. She was just trying to piss Cam off. The realization lea

  • Playing Fake With Kade Black    Sora Is Kissing Me

Kade Shadow is a beautiful crier, that’s all I can think about crouched watching her splutter over my idiot brother. And the fact that Cameron is just as blind as he was eight years ago. “Your girlfriend?” Her tears dry up instantly, “No. You’ve known me for what? Twenty minutes?” I shrug, “A little closer to ten.” She raises her brows, gaping at me like I just said the stupidest shit in the world. “This isn’t helping your case, Mr. Black.” I bite my lip, trying and failing to stop the smile forming on my face. God, she’s as adorable as they come. “Strange,” I say. “I don’t remember being Mr. Black when you were pressed against my side calling me babe.” A long, suffering sigh leaves shadow and she drags both hands down her face. “I needed your help to save face.” I clap my hands. “Bingo, it’s my turn. I need your help.” Her head tilts to the side, and I can feel my heart summersault in its confinement. She’s hands down one of the prettiest, sexiest, most beautiful

  • Playing Fake With Kade Black    Chapter Four: Off Limits

Sora What. The. Fuck. Of all things that shouldn’t be happening, this has to top the list. There is absolutely no way my new client is Kade Black. The notorious Black sheep of the Black family. Fuck my life. I suck in a breath and wiggle away the despair coursing through me, I just need him to play as my boyfriend for now, that’s it. I stop by his side and he looks more amused than confused that it pisses me off. “Hey, babe,” I say sweetly, smiling up at the giant beside me. His lips curve into a faint smile, and I’m scared to my bones that he’ll rat me out so I do the most sensible thing to do in a situation like this. I subtly pinch is forearm, in silent desperation. It’s no secret that Kade and Cameron can barely stand each other. And nobody, not even I, knows why and trust me I’ve tried so dearly to pry the answer out of him. All I know is, the two brothers loathe each other. If this man hates Cameron as much as Cameron pretends to hate him, then this e

  • Playing Fake With Kade Black    Chapter Three: Your Boyfriend Is My Brother?

Sora “Look, I get that you don’t like Daisy, but lying like this?” Cameron says, disappointment flashing across his features. “Why the hell would I lie about your girlfriend being a cheater?!” I yell, frustration nearly choking me. This outcome sat right at the top of my list of possible actions, but it still stings realizing my best friend thinks this low of me. He doesn’t answer my question, instead, he turns toward an already crying Daisy. “Baby,” he says softly, “what is she talking about?” Beside me, Sandy rushes over and mutters under her breath, “When I said ruin the proposal, I didn’t exactly mean like this.” I scoff, rolling my eyes before stepping forward anyway. At this point, none of this even matters anymore. Not Daisy cheating, and sure as hell not him proposing to her. “I overheard her in the changing room when I went to get her,” I say, forcing my voice to stay steady. “I didn’t want to tell you like this, but you were too distracted in your suite
