Chapter 2

مؤلف: Sixteen Summers
I was speechless at the system for being so 'friendly' in checking on me like that.

The ward door was opened from the outside, and my father brought Zac into the ward. The boy had delicate features. At first glance, he looked well-behaved. His slightly droopy puppy eyes looked at me timidly, making him seem just like a newborn pup—helpless and innocent.

How adorable! How could I bear to bully him?

My father said, "Zac heard that you were awake and wanted to see you."

Not only was he adorable, but he was also well-behaved! Zac was totally my type! However, I could not show it. I had to bully him. This world was really unkind to me.

I was crying inwardly while showing a cold expression and glaring at him, sending him a signal that I was not to be trifled with.

Zac looked completely confused, blinking and even innocently smiling at me.

I was speechless.

He was so cute, too cute! However, I could not break character. I could not be friendly to him.

I clenched my fists tightly, desperately suppressing the urge to smile. Like a spoiled heiress in novels, I haughtily said, "You, come here and get me a glass of water."

The little boy came trotting over and poured me a glass of water. "Nova, have some water."

I did not want to be charmed by his cuteness, but he called me by my name.

I was practically dying trying to hold it in, but I still had to stay in character. Thus, I glared at him and snapped, "Don't call me Nova. Call me 'Ms. Vettel!"

Perhaps frightened by my fierce appearance, Zac flinched and nodded timidly.

Because of my rude behavior, I got a lecture from my parents.

Thankfully, I managed to maintain my villainous persona.

Maintaining a persona against your will was not easy, especially when the person you were bullying was an adorable little boy.

My parents thought I must have hit my head. Their usually kind and gentle daughter had turned into a spoiled, overbearing brat the moment she was around Zac.

No one understood my agony.

Sometimes, I just could not resist giving Zac a friendly smile, and then either a hornet's nest would fall from a tree and hit me on the head, or I would suddenly trip and fall flat on my face. Several times, I would even be struck by sudden lightning, nearly killing me.

I had to bully Zac. Sometimes, I arrogantly ordered him around to serve me tea and water; other times, I deliberately played pranks on him and made him take the blame.

Zac's personality was incredibly well-mannered when he was little. He never once lost his temper with me, and he obediently let me do whatever I wanted.

This made me feel even more guilty, so I would subtly get my parents to care for him after each time I bullied him.

Luckily, my parents were very loving toward him in the original story, so this did not seem to violate the character setting.

Ten years passed, and under my vicious exploitation, Zac had gradually changed from being soft and lovable to aloof and silent. It perfectly matched the novel's character setting.

I did not think my petty bullying would make Zac hold a grudge against me when he grew up. At most, he would just dislike me. I figured he would go to college, meet the female protagonist, and start the original plot. Once my family went bankrupt, I could run away abroad!

However, when man proposed, God disposed. When Zac was in his first year of high school, which was my senior year, one of the boys I was close to heard I disliked Zac for some reason. To curry favor with me, they started bullying him, claiming it was to get revenge for me.

In the first six months after Nova went overseas, I deliberately avoided contacting her and only communicated with her family by phone. All the messages went cold, and their phone numbers became invalid. The Vettel family seemed to have vanished into thin air, mysteriously losing all contact with others.Nova disappeared for eight years.During these eight years, I used all my connections to look for her and prayed that she would contact me on her own initiative. However, there was no response. Even when she saw me eight years later, her first reaction was to run away. I almost laughed out of sheer frustration. She knew she was in the wrong but played dumb, even insisting without any basis that I had married someone else.My intuition told me Nova was hiding something from me, including the strangeness of her eight-year disappearance and i

That was why I would rather let Zac continue to misunderstand my actions in the past, rather than let him know the truth. He stopped his actions and looked down at me.This time, I stopped avoiding his gaze. I looked at him seriously. "Zac, I just hope you know that I also like you. Even before I left, I liked you."Zac stared at me intently, his dark and deep eyes gradually losing their madness. The number on his forehead kept rising, and the color began to change, from black to pink, and then from pink to red. When it reached 100, it suddenly disappeared.I opened my eyes wide in surprise. "Zac, you... You..."He was back to normal...Zac lifted his hand to untie the tie around my wrist and gently kissed the red mark left by the pressure. "Sorry, Nova."I shook my head and reached out to hug his neck. "Look, only when you let go of me can I hug you."Zac's eyelashes trembled slightly as he carefully held me back. The non-evil Zac was so gentle. So gentle...Left with no choi

He lowered his gaze and stared at me, the dark eyes reflecting my panicked expression. Finally, he managed to say, "I bought this place. I've been waiting for you to come back for eight years."I swallowed hard, trying to shift the blame. "But you didn't come looking for me either."Zac's gaze dimmed a bit. "I couldn't find you. You and your parents disappeared."I was stunned. Could this really be true?He did not seem to be lying. After all, he had even tied me up. However, how could he not have contacted me for eight years? Something must have gone wrong with this world, preventing Zac from finding me!"Zac, could you please loosen me up first?" I softened my tone, trying to communicate with him.Zac just smiled. When I thought there was hope, his expression changed as he lowered his head and bit down hard on my lips. This time, he did not just bite my lips. Before I could open my mouth to speak and react, he extended his tongue and invaded my mouth, domineeringly claiming it

I was confused again. "What on earth is this 'affection level' you're talking about?"Hannah asked doubtfully, "It's the number on the top of the target's head. When the affection level reaches 50, you can check it at any time. Of course, it's physically manifested here. You don't know that?""So that's the affection level! I always thought it was a mood score!"I suddenly understood and thought of something else. I asked, "Does the color of the number have any special meaning?"Hannah patiently explained, "Green is normal, pink is ambiguous, red is critical. Once it exceeds the critical point, the affection bar will disappear, meaning that you no longer need to boost his affection to maintain the relationship deliberately. It'll turn into true love."I tentatively asked, "Is there no black? "Hannah's expression changed. "Black?"I nervously touched my hair. "Zac's affection level for me is negative now, and the number is black."Hannah looked at me with pitiful eyes. "Black m

Zac chuckled, his face showing no sign of displeasure. However, his mood score dropped significantly again.Gosh, every time, it would only rise a little bit and then plummet. Is it the stock market?I quickly got out of the car and walked briskly toward the restaurant.Although I had not seen Hannah for eight years, I immediately recognized her in the huge restaurant. That sort of appearance and temperament could only belong to the female protagonist!Hannah also saw me from afar and smiled and waved at me from her seat. She had only met me once, but she smiled as if she had met an old friend when she saw me. "Nova, it's been a long time!"I smiled at her. "I've been abroad for the past few years. I heard you got married. Congratulations!"Hannah showed a shy expression. She remembered something and curiously asked me, "Nova, how is your relationship with Mr. Newton going?"I was immediately stunned. "Who's this Mr. Newton you mentioned..."Hannah said naturally, "Zac! Isn't h

When I heard that Zac was willing to leave, I was so astonished that I looked up. Before I could say anything, he grabbed my chin and leaned in to bite my lip. I cried out in pain and reached out to push him away, but I could not move.Zac looked down at me, his fingers pressing against my lips and gently tracing the bite mark. His voice was low and husky. "Ms. Vettel, are you happy to hear I'm leaving?"I slapped his hand away and snapped, "Stop calling me that!"His smile vanished instantly as his mood score dropped even lower.I instinctively knew that the more his mood score dropped, the more I would be the one to suffer in the end. Thus, I quickly softened my tone and changed my tone. "I'm not an heiress anymore. Just call me by my name."Zac's expression softened, and he gently stroked my neck, murmuring, "Nova, I missed you very much."His fingertips were cold as his gaze lingered and moved over my face. His dark eyes showed no concealment of possessiveness, as if he would
