CHAPTER 2

Sugar and Lavender.

That's the scent of the sole female Alpha that he's been addicted to since the two of them were only six years old. His simple admiration for that girl slowly turned into a crush until it became love. If Blake can only dictate his feelings, he does not want his heart to beat fast every time Lizzy is near him. He knows it is absurd to like someone who is not even his.

Everyone in this world has a soulmate. That person will accompany them until they die. Their other half is waiting for them somewhere in this world. And their only guide is the splash of colors that paint their bodies together with the words that symbolize their other half. In addition, they symbolize the deep longing their wolves will feel if they meet their soulmates.

Blake and Felicity met at six. Lizzy and her single Alpha mother moved into the condominium next door. At first, Blake was not interested in their new neighbors. He does not want to be associated with other kids except for his brother, Blaise.

Ever since they were kids, Blake has not liked to play with other children because they cannot keep up with his strength and talent. For someone who was born as a so-called 'genius' in their family, it was already destined that only a few people can understand him. But Blake does not mind it at all. For him, being a 'genius will only help him find the right people he can associate with.

But when he first saw Lizzy playing volleyball all by herself in the playground, his heartbeat was so fast. Blake thought he would die of a heart attack. Even the wolf inside him ordered him to approach her. That was the first time the wolf inside him became wild and uncontrollable after meeting another person.

It sounds so fucking cheesy but Blake knows he fell in love with Lizzy at first sight.

Following his instincts, he quickly made friends with the girl who always wore a bright smile on her pretty face. Lizzy is not only a sweet girl. He also discovered that she is a genius just like him and they share the same hobbies and interests. For the first time, Blake made a real friend other than his brother.

At ten, Blake learned two things about himself.

First, Blake learned he was an Alpha. Second, he discovered he had the biggest crush on Lizzy. But to be honest, these things were no longer surprises for him. His status as an Alpha was already guaranteed given his possessiveness and independent personality.

Blake's second discovery about himself is something everyone in his family has known from the beginning. Blake is the type of person who is never willing to hang out with just about anyone. If Blake is not playing with Blaise, he will obviously stay with Lizzy. Whenever Blaise refused to play with him, Lizzy would always be there to stay beside him. The more they spend time together, the more Blake's heart beat for Lizzy.

On his sixteenth birthday, Blake got his soulmate's mark. It is a blue and purple color splashed around the words under his left collarbone. His eyes widened in amazement when it slowly appeared on his skin when the clock struck midnight.

His mother explained to him that the color, as well as the words that appeared on his skin, represented the purpose of his soulmate in his life. If that is the case, Blake cannot understand the role his soulmate will play in his life. In contrast to the colors surrounding him, the words on his skin are written in a striking way.

The excitement he felt as he awaited the appearance of his soulmate mark has slowed down, and has been replaced with anxiety and worry. If he already got his soulmate's mark, Lizzy will also receive hers two months later on her sixteenth birthday. His mother said that the two people know if they are soulmates if their marks appear on the same spot on their bodies. Since Blaise got him under his collarbones, his soulmate should also have the same mark on the same spot.

Blake can still remember how he wished Lizzy was his soulmate. Blake's younger self believed Lizzy was his soulmate. He can feel it in his heart. Even the wolf inside him longs for her presence.

Deep inside, Blake knows Lizzy is for him.

But the universe has another plan for Blake to go against him. On Lizzy's birthday, Blake's delicate heart shattered into pieces. There is no similar mark to the one that appears on Lizzy's skin. There are no blotches of color underneath her collarbones with a few words written on them.

Felicity Larson is not his soulmate.

It only means there is another person destined for him. That also applies to the girl he has been longing for since childhood. They are not meant for each other.

Blake cannot accept it. How is it possible? Even his furious wolf feels the same way as him. Could their fate have been mishandled? Blake knows Lizzy should be given to him in this world. But why did it turn out like this?

The only person he loves is not destined for him. There is another person who will cherish her forever. And that person will obviously love her until they die.

Blake still longs for Lizzy. What can he do anyway? Even the wolf inside him becomes restless every time she comes into his sight. Both of them are deeply in love with the person who does not belong to them.

Lizzy has a soulmate. Blake knows it so well. The mark on her collarbones is not the same as the one on her body, but she certainly has one hidden somewhere. Lizzy and her wolves are waiting for their fated one to appear in their lives.

Unfortunately for Blake, he is not the one she wants in her life.
