ALICE’S POV.

After dinner, I decided to head back upstairs. My encounter with Ethan this evening made me more than exhausted, I needed rest.

“Thank you for dinner, I’ll head back to my room now,” I said, getting up from the couch.

“Good night, and sleep tight,” Jake said with a smile. And I nodded.

“Yeah, you too,”

While i was about to drift off to sleep, I heard the sound of my door slowly creak open. With fear, i quickly turned around, my eyes landing on Jake.

“I'm sorry, did i wake you?“ He whispered. I shook my head.

“No, you didn't, but you scared me,” i said, and we both giggled slightly.

“Sorry,.I didn't mean to, I only wanted to check up on you,” He said, his gone dropping.

“T—Thank you,” I said, feeling warmth against my cheek.

“Alright, I'll head back to my room now, please be rest assured that you're safe, okay,” he said. He was referring to the part where i said i was scared.

“Okay, thanks,” I mumbled.

But as he turned to leave, i felt this sudden urge to call him back.
