Chapter 3

Mari woke up late because of Yin last night. She wasn't sure if he went home safe and sound or not.

Instead of thinking about him again, she rushed herself at the bathroom, take a quick bath and brush her teeth and at last, do her morning skin care to make her fresh and gloomy.

She didn't have her breakfast, she ran off towards her car and drove fast until she reached her company. She was greeted by her employees but she remained quiet and didn't even bother to greet them back.

Mari was welcomed with bunch of flowers in front of her office. Her forehead knitted, her gaze darkened.

"Harvey!" She shouted, loudly.

Her secretary came, rushing. Fear flashes in his face. "W—What is it, Ms. President?" He asked, nervously.

Mari pointed her fingers in front of her office. "What the fuck is this flowers doing here?!" Her thunderous voice echoed. "Do you think, I am dead already?" She sarcastically asked.

"No— Madam!" He answered.

She felt weird and it creeps her out who sent a flowers from her office.

"Throw it away," she uttered, authoritatively.

"Okay, Ms. President. I'll call someone to throw that away." Harvey said and call the building's concierge.

"Make it fast, Harvey. I don't want to see that fucking flowers again. If there's a delivery, throw it away." She blurted, irritatedly.

She's busy checking the emails of their client when a message popped up on her phone screen and it came from unknown number.

Unknown number:

Why'd you throw the flowers? Seriously, I will punish you woman if you didn't accept any of those.

Her forehead creased. Annoyed and she felt creepy about it. She replied back.

I'm not gonna accept that flowers. I'm not yet dead, stop pestering me, idiot. She replied.

Her eyes went back to what she's doing but her phone keeps on ringing. In an instant, she grab her phone and answer the call.

"What do you need?! Stop bugging me!" She shouted, abruptly.

She was shocked, her eyes widened when she heard the unknown caller talk.

"It's Yin, your future..." Sarcastically, he said.

Her forehead creased again. What the hell?

"What the hell? What future are you saying?!" She asked.

Yin laughs in the background. "Are you expecting something?" He asked, sarcastically.

Mari's mouth parted a bit from what she heard. She seems like she wanted to see Yin and punch his face. He's arrogant and she wants to end his arrogance.

"What the hell? I am not expecting something, jerk!" She shouted, angrily.

This man... what's his fucking intention of sending flowers to me?

Chuckling, Yin Montero was enjoying the call between him and Mari. He loves to annoy her which makes him smile.

"Sorry, I thought you're expecting something like you want me to be more romantic."

She heaved a sigh in annoyance and frustration. "Don't assume, I'm not into romantic relationship, drop it, asshole!" She said and turn down the call.

Mari massages her temple. Her head is aching like she was intoxicated by liquor. She hates having a headache because no one can take care of her except her brother, Dave

She rested her head for a few minutes when she heard a knock outside her office. She was lazy to open up her eyes, she didn't say anything.

Little she didn't know, her brother was the one knocking her office door. Dave was annoyed as his sister didn't even welcome him. Instead, he barged in and he was welcomed by Mari, her eyes were close while her head is resting on her swivel chair.

She must be tired. Dave thought in mind.

He walked like a deity to his sister's direction and he notice that she's calmly breathing. Probably, she works a lot without even eating again. Dave mumbled in his inner peace.

He sighed. Dave started to caressed her cheeks and comb her hair like a kid.

"Little sister, you must be tired from handling our company..." He whispered. "If I wasn't a jerk, you won't carry this responsibility... It's my fault but you grow up as a fine lady and live like an angel." He added, tenderly.

He knows that she can't remember. Although, she just let her do her thing. Dave can't do anything but wait for her to remember.

Dave carry his little sister and walk towards her room in the office. He laid her down, slowly and gentle. She didn't move nor awake, she's peacefully sleeping.

Dave kissed his sister's forehead before leaving the room and finished all the paper work that his sister was doing earlier.

Mari's secretary opened the door without hesitation. His face flashes fear but it was taken away when he saw his friend, Dave.

Yes, Harvey and Dave were friends. They've been a best buddy during their highschool life up until they graduated at the same university.

"What the hell are you doing, Harvey?" Dave coldly asked his friend. "Don't you know how to knock?"

Harvey clears his throat. "Sorry, I forgot, buddy. Where's my boss?"

"Sleeping," he answered, simply.

There's a wry smile in his lips. "Oh, she must be tired." He says.

"Yes, and she won't be like this if I was the one who catches my responsibility." Dave admits his mistake. "I was wrong and I want to help her in the company."

Harvey shook his head. "No need to help your sister, Dave. She's good enough to handle your businesses. She made your parents proud and she's a good example of being a boss."

Dave shrugged his shoulder. "Yeah, that sounds great for her. I am proud to be his brother yet..." He paused and sighed, deeply. "I was a jerk who left her the responsibility. That should be me, who will be tired all day and that should be me, exhausting from work and papers."

Harvey tapped his shoulder. "The least you can do to help your sister is to stay by her side. She was tough and brave enough to face the challenges of your company." He informed his friend. "And every battle she takes, she wins and never lose hope."

Dave nod his head and agreed with what Harvey told him.

"Oh, let me just put this greeting letter from one of your sister's suitor." Harvey said and walked towards Mari's table.

Dave forehead creased. "Suitor?" He asked.

Harvey nod his head. "Yes, her suitor is one of the big investor of your company. Want me to tell you his background?" He offered.

"Go on," Dave uttered and fold his arms over his chest.

Harvey heaved a deep sigh. "Alright, since your sister was competitive, a certain guy named— Yin Montero, came into the picture. He has the power in business society, he was known as demon in the industry," he spoken. "Your sister knows how to play dirty with this man and you won't believe this, your sister dump him in a dinner date."

Dave's mouth parted. Shocked. That was his expression before he smiled, wickedly.

He knew Yin Montero, it was his sister's boyfriend. A long time boyfriend she didn't even recognize.

"Oh, just my sister's standard..." He shook his head, "...she don't want her name to get tainted by a jerk. That's the Mari I know."
