Aurora POV

The mahogany boardroom table vibrated under my palms. I kept my seat two chairs down from the head of the table, purposely avoiding the central leather throne. My thick thighs filled out my tailored black trousers, and my burgundy silk top draped heavily over my shoulders. I didn't hide my size anymore. My abusive ex-husband, Alpha Julian, spent years calling me a soft, oversized burden before trading me away like livestock.

He was wrong for sure because my curves weren't soft. They were heavy, solid muscle, earned from fourteen years of running pack security.

The double doors clicked open. The murmurs in the room died instantly.

Supreme Alpha Smith Calloway walked in.

He stood six-foot-four, his deep brown skin flawless against his charcoal suit. His grey eyes immediately scanned the room. When they saw my face, the mood suddenly felt different. The thread of our fated bond. Gosh, the one I publicly rejected eight months ago.

Now I can’t help but feel a burning sensation in my chest.

Smith didn't look away. He simply buttoned his jacket and took his seat.

Beside him stood Rio Santos, his head of security. Rio was a quiet, lethal force with a broad frame which I always admired. Yet, as I adjusted my folder, I saw Rio’s dark eyes dropping to the swell of my hips. A raw, hunger flickered in his gaze, something entirely unrelated to pack politics.

"Thank you for coming on short notice," Smith’s baritone voice echoed through the room. He clicked a remote, and the digital screen behind him flashed. Four Midwestern cities blinked in bleeding red. "Detroit, Milwaukee, Indianapolis. Chicago. We lost three warriors in Detroit last week and now they’re under surgical conditions. This isn't random rogue chaos to be honest."

The Alphas around the table acted uncomfortably.

"I am forming a joint continental task force," Smith continued, opening a leather folder. "Senior representatives only would be working directly under my command." He read four names of high-ranking wolves. Then, his grey eyes locked back onto mine. "Aurora Voss the Beta Commander of Ashwood Pack."

A collective breath hitched instantly over there. Everyone knew the rumor. I mean the rejection wasn’t a private one either so it’s expected. They knew I stood before three hundred wolves, shoved my rejection into his face, and walked out.

"The initial sweep moves south to north," Smith said, turning back to the map. "Detroit first, then Milwaukee before we strike Indianapolis last."

"That’s a mistake," I said.

My voice was loud enough to stop every conversation in the room. Marcus Grey, my Ashwood Alpha was sitting across from me, closed his eyes repeatedly trying to signal me to stop but I ignored him.

"Indianapolis first," I stated, leaning my forearms on the table. "Look at the time stamps. The rogue attacks aren't moving north dear.  They are circling inward literally. I mean Indianapolis is the closest point to Chicago. If they are practicing, they would definitely prepare to hit the heart of the summit and we would be wasting time at the far end of the map literally."

An older Alpha from the Detroit pack slammed his hand down. "You dare question the Supreme Leader, Beta?"

I shot him an irritated look. “Was I talking to you?” Everyone suddenly gasped once more. Marcus's eyes bulged open and I knew the next word in his mind was ‘drama.’

Smith held up a single, large hand. The room went silent. He stared at me for three long seconds, his face completely unreadable. Then, he looked at his technicians.

"Indianapolis first," Smith commanded plainly. "Adjust the framework then, meeting adjourned."

I stood up immediately, grabbed my folders, and bolted for the double doors, pushing into the carpeted hallway.

"Aurora."

The voice didn't belong to Smith. I turned to find Rio Santos stepping out of the shadows of the corridor. He stopped just inches away from me, his massive chest nearly brushing my shoulder.

"You're bleeding through your shirt," Rio murmured.

I looked down. A small, dark circle of red bloomed against the burgundy silk near my collarbone. The physical toll of the rejected bond literally tore my skin apart, opening old scars.

"I'm fine," I lied.

"You're a terrible liar, Commander," Rio said. Before I could pull away, his large, scarred hand reached out towards me,  his thumb gently brushing the side of my neck.

A shockwave erupted from his touch. My wolf didn't growl; she howled in satisfaction. Rio’s eyes showed signs of satisfaction and his grip tightened on my shoulder, which gave signs of protective possession that left me breathless.

"Get away from her, Rio."

The ice-cold command echoed down the hall. Smith stood by the boardroom doors, his hands shoved into his pockets, his grey eyes blazing with a terrifying, territorial fury.

Aurora’s PovThe shift hit me before my brain could even process the danger. My bones snapped and expanded, my burgundy clothes tearing away as my massive, broad-chested silver-grey wolf materialized in the mud. I let out a roar that definitely shook the low-hanging branches above us.A white wolf threw itself at my throat.I leaned into my weight, using my hips and the gravity of my body to slam my shoulder into its chest. The force of the impact sent the attacker flying backward into a boulder, the sound of its ribs.To my left, Smith’s pitch-black wolf tore through two of the venom-enhanced attackers, his massive chisel lines snapping with harshness.Rio fought in his human form, his twin silver blades slicing through the rain, his dark eyes entirely focused on keeping the perimeter clear around my flank. The attackers were fast. The venom in their veins made them immune to the initial pain. One of the white wolves managed to slip past Smith's guard, its amber eyes fixed entirely o

Aurora’s PovThe transition from a hunted rebel to a ruler was too sudden.I sat at the breakfast bar in Smith’s penthouse, my fingers tracing the rim of a ceramic mug. Outside the glass, Maya slept in her carrier at my feet, her tiny chest rising and falling in perfect harmony. Footsteps approached from the corridor, I didn't need to look up to know who it was. I knew it was Smith Calloway. He wore a simple black t-shirt that stretched tight across his massive chest, "You're pacing in your mind again, wildcat," Smith murmured, his voice low against my hair."We haven't heard from the Eastern Pack council in forty-eight hours, Smith," I said, leaning back slightly against his frame. My waist felt secure under his broad palm. "Victoria Cross didn't just vanish into thin air after the warehouse raid. Her father is hiding her, and Mother Grey’s remaining loyalists are silent.""Let them hide," Smith said. "We have the northern borders secured. Marcus has his enforcers patrolling the Ash

Aurora’s PovI woke up shivering under three blankets, my whole body soaked in sweat. My skin felt too tight for some weird reason. The little concrete room smelled funky. I didn’t remember how I got here, only flashes running through my mind and also Marcus’s voice. Someone is carrying me.The door opened.Smith walked in first, shirtless, his chest marked with old battle scars I’d never let myself study before. Rio followed behind him silently, and locked the door once he was inside.“Get out,” I said, though my voice barely had weight.“No,” Smith said.I pulled the blankets higher, my body shaking too hard to hide it properly. “I mean it, Smith.”“Marcus told us everything,” he said, crouching beside the mattress. “He had no right.”“He loves you,” Rio said quietly from the doorway. “He’s watched you die for eight months and said nothing because you asked him not to. That’s not betrayal, Aurora. That’s a man keeping his word until he couldn’t anymore.”I didn’t have the strength

Aurora’s PovRio didn’t flinch. He let his hand drop slowly from my shoulder, giving Smith a respectful nod before moving down the stairwell. He didn’t look sorry either but for sure looked like a man who’d gotten exactly what he wanted, even for a few seconds.I stood there gripping my folder, feeling the sting where his thumb had touched my neck. It didn’t fade as a normal touch should have. It sat there, warm, the way the bond used to feel before I broke it.“I told you not to touch me, Calloway,” I said, though Smith hadn’t been the one to touch me at all.“I didn’t touch you,” Smith said, stepping closer. “He did and trust me when I said I felt it anyway.”.“Marcus told me you have months left,” Smith said. His voice was quieter now, stripped of the command it carried in the boardroom. “If you don’t revoke the rejection.”“Marcus talks too much.”“Marcus loves you enough to be scared for you.”“I’d rather choke on my own blood than submit to another tyrant,” I said, and I meant i

  • Plus Size Luna Obsession    Chapter 1

Aurora’s PovThe pain woke me instantly before the sun did.It always started in my chest, a harsh burning that spread down my arms like poison moving through water. The rejected bond didn’t care that I had a summit to attend or a daughter to protect. It just took what it wanted from my body, piece by piece, every single night.I lay still until the worst of it passed. Then I got up, because staying in bed never fixed anything. The apartment was cold. I didn’t bother with the heater. Julian used to say cold rooms kept me humble, kept me from getting comfortable, kept me from forgetting what I was. Eight years of marriage taught me things I still carry in my body even now, long after I’d buried him in my past. I checked the door locks twice before I even reached for my clothes. Once was never enough. It only meant I never really checked.I drove across town before the streets woke up, following the same route I always used, then doubling back once just to be sure no one followed. Zara
