The elevator chimed softly as it reached the ground floor.

Hellena stepped out, the lingering tension still wrapped tightly around her chest. Instead of returning directly to her cramped apartment, she flagged down the first taxi that passed and gave a single destination:

Herry’s house.

Hellena refused to carry the title of Kael Willian’s wife tomorrow morning while still leaving loose ends tied to another man.

This toxic relationship had to end tonight.

The taxi stopped in front of a house she had visited with a heart full of longing for the past three years.

Tonight, however, every step she took toward the front door felt unfamiliar and hollow.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Hellena knocked steadily on the wooden door.

It did not take long before it opened, revealing Herry.

The man looked utterly stunned.

His hair was slightly disheveled, and the flannel shirt he wore was not even fully buttoned across his chest.

“H-Hellena?” he stammered, his eyes darting nervously. “What are you doing here so late at night, sweetheart?”

The endearment that had once sounded sweet now felt like the most disgusting word Hellena had ever heard.

From inside the house came the faint sound of hurried footsteps.

Hellena shifted her gaze past Herry’s shoulder toward the staircase leading upstairs.

There, a bedroom door stood slightly ajar.

Jessica was standing in the upstairs hallway, her damp hair hanging loose around her shoulders. She wore one of Herry’s oversized white shirts.

Her best friend froze when she realized Hellena’s eyes were fixed directly on her.

Herry quickly shifted his body, attempting to block Hellena’s view as his expression grew increasingly nervous.

“I want us to break up,” Hellena said without preamble, getting straight to the point.

Herry gaped.

“What?”

“We’re breaking up.”

Hellena’s voice was remarkably calm.

There was not a single tear left for the man standing before her.

The pain had gone numb two hours ago.

“Why, Hellena?” Herry demanded quickly, his voice rising in shock. “You show up in the middle of the night and suddenly want to break up? Are you crazy?”

Hellena looked directly into the eyes of the man she had once loved with all her heart.

Strangely, she no longer felt explosive anger.

The only thing left inside her was exhaustion.

A deep, overwhelming exhaustion.

“I don’t have feelings for you anymore. That’s all.”

Herry frowned deeply, his male pride clearly wounded.

“No feelings? Hellena, we’ve been together for three years! You're throwing away three years just like that?”

“And those three years were more than enough to make me realize the truth.”

“Realize what?” Herry snapped, taking a step forward. “Are you playing games with me?”

Hellena slowly shook her head.

“I just don’t want to continue a relationship that has become unhealthy.”

She deliberately chose not to expose the affair between Herry and Jessica that she had witnessed earlier.

To her, arguing and crying in front of two traitors was utterly meaningless.

A waste of time.

A waste of the dignity she had only just managed to reclaim.

Hellena also chose to keep tomorrow’s contract marriage a secret.

“Just because of some ridiculous excuse about losing feelings?” Herry laughed mockingly. “You think you can treat our relationship like a toy?”

Hellena curled her lips into a faint smile filled with quiet mockery.

“Isn’t that exactly what it has always been to you, Herry?”

Herry froze.

It felt as though an invisible blade had pierced straight through his chest.

Hellena stepped back and pulled her coat closer around herself.

“This relationship ends here. Good night.”

“Hellena!”

Without warning, Herry lunged forward and grabbed her wrist.

“I don’t agree! We can’t break up!”

Hellena lowered her gaze to the hand wrapped around her wrist.

“Take your hands off me, Herry,” she hissed.

Her voice suddenly turned cold and firm—a tone Herry had never heard from the usually patient and obedient Hellena.

Startled, Herry instinctively loosened his grip.

However, his jaw tightened with burning anger.

“You’ve gone too far!”

Hellena did not bother responding.

She simply turned around and walked into the night, ignoring Herry’s repeated calls from the front porch.

Behind her, Herry clenched both fists.

Whether she was boring or not, Hellena had been dependable for the past three years.

She had always been patient.

Always loyal.

Financially stable.

Never demanding.

How could that curvy woman discard him so easily?

Herry’s pride shattered instantly.

Hellena... you’ll never be able to walk away from me that easily, he growled inwardly.

The following morning, the capital city was wrapped in a biting chill.

The clock read exactly 8:55 a.m. when the taxi carrying Hellena stopped in front of the Civil Registry Office.

The moment she stepped out, she immediately spotted Kael Willian standing near one of the building’s pillars.

The man wore a dark-gray three-piece suit tailored in Savile Row fashion, making him appear formal, powerful, and intimidating all at once.

Kael glanced briefly at his platinum watch before looking at Hellena.

“You’re five minutes late.”

“I arrived before nine o’clock, Mr. Kael. Just as we agreed last night,” Hellena corrected politely.

“I don’t like being contradicted, Hellena.”

Hellena released a quiet sigh and chose to let it go rather than start an unnecessary argument first thing in the morning.

Kael stepped closer, erasing the distance between them.

The scent of his masculine woody cologne drifted toward her once again.

“And there’s one more thing I need to make clear before we go inside.”

“What is it, sir?”

“Don’t ever repeat that cheap little stunt you pulled last night.”

The night slowly gave way to dawn, leaving behind the remnants of warmth from the passion that had just subsided in the luxurious suite overlooking Kuta Beach. Beneath the thick blanket wrapped around their bodies, Hellena rested her head against Kael's broad chest, listening to the heartbeat of the man who had now become her entire world. Kael's strong fingers patiently stroked his wife's long black hair, while his mind wandered far into the past, remembering how such a complicated and painful destiny had ultimately led them to true happiness. Looking back, the beginning of their marriage had not come from a romantic fairy tale at all. It had all started with a cold agreement written in black and white on paper: a contract marriage. At that time, Kael William Smith was a young CEO known by the nickname of the cold monster—cruel, ambitious, merciless, and completely uninterested in romance. Amid pressure from his mother, who had been diagnosed with severe heart disease and urged

The night grew deeper along the coast of Kuta, Bali. The rhythmic sound of the waves resembled a soft melody accompanying the silence. Inside the luxurious villa suite overlooking the open sea, the sheer curtains slowly swayed in the night breeze, carrying the distinctive scent of seawater and tropical freshness. The full moon reflected perfectly on the surface of the private swimming pool on the outdoor terrace, casting a silvery glow that illuminated the corners of the warm mahogany-themed bedroom. Hellena sat reclining against the king-size bed, which was covered with high-quality white linen sheets. The thin silk pajamas she wore fit snugly around her body, revealing the elegant silhouette of a woman who had finally found complete peace within herself. The bathroom door opened, revealing Kael as he stepped out. The man was wearing only a pair of relaxed black trousers, leaving his broad chest clearly exposed beneath the dim bedroom lights. His black hair, still damp from his s

One week later, Kael decided that his family needed a complete refresh from their demanding corporate routine. Without making any elaborate plans known to the public, the CEO of Smith Group suddenly booked the entire facilities of a luxurious beachfront resort in Bali, bringing along his beloved wife and their little son, who had now passed his first birthday. That morning, the white sands of Kuta Beach welcomed their arrival beneath the warm glow of the tropical sunlight. A gentle sea breeze blew softly, carrying the distinctive and soothing scent of saltwater. Hellena, dressed in a knee-length lilac summer dress and a wide-brimmed straw hat, walked along the beach while holding both of Billy's tiny hands. Their little boy was in the most active and adorable phase of his life. Billy had just learned to walk steadily, so every inch of the beach seemed like a giant playground that captured his attention. The thick-haired little boy laughed joyfully as he took unsteady steps on his t

The next day, the weather in the capital, which had initially been clear, suddenly changed drastically within minutes. Thick black clouds rolled low across the sky, blocking out the sunlight and transforming the daytime sky into something as dark as dusk. Not long afterward, a storm accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain mercilessly battered the city, pounding against the glass windows of the Smith Group skyscraper with thunderous roars. On the ground floor of the main building, Hellena was organizing several financial documents from the previous year to be stored in the underground archive room. As the personal secretary who had now returned to actively carrying out her office duties alongside her status as the lady of the Smith Group, Hellena continued to uphold a high level of professionalism. She refused help with routine tasks like this, even though Kael often protested because he did not want his wife to become overly tired.“Mrs. Smith, let me take them down to the archives

Time passed so quickly. Without realizing it, today, the Smith family residence was filled with the cheerful laughter of a one-year-old boy running around on the velvet carpet in the family room. Billy Davidson Smithson, with thick black hair and sharp eyes that looked so much like his father’s, was busy chasing a toy ball, accompanied by Kael, who was willing to sit cross-legged on the floor, completely ignoring the suit jacket he had tossed onto the sofa. In the corner of the room, Hellena stood holding a tray filled with cups of warm tea. Her eyes gazed at her husband and son, a sincere smile gracing her lips. Hellena’s status at Smith Group had never changed on paper—she was still officially listed as the CEO’s personal secretary. However, in reality, everyone on the board of directors and every employee knew very well that the woman behind the desk outside his office was no longer merely a subordinate, but the true Queen who held complete control over the billionaire’s life

That night, the city center was practically paralyzed by an extraordinary display of grandeur. The Grand Majestic Hotel, the city’s most iconic building, shone brightly with spotlights directed toward the sky, creating a breathtaking view visible from several kilometers away. In front of the main entrance, a procession of luxury cars continuously dropped off guests who were among the most influential people in the country—high-ranking officials, business tycoons, and top celebrities. Inside, the main ballroom had been transformed into something resembling a fairy-tale kingdom. Thousands of imported white roses, specially brought in by air, covered nearly every corner of the room, creating a soft yet luxurious fresh fragrance. Crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling reflected warm golden light, creating an atmosphere that was both romantic and magnificent. The main stage at the end of the room was decorated with floral arrangements forming a massive “K & H” monogram, welcoming e
