"What do you want?" I ask Sunny as he walks up to meet me. His lips curl up in a smile as we stand alone in the corridor.

The sound of Mike and his friends' conversation and laughter in the living room echoes in the corridor as I peer at Sunny's face.

When I have found the college I want to apply to, I will let you both know," I reply, and my mother sighs again. "Alright." She doesn't say anything else, and my mind replays most of the cooking shows that I have watched. I fancy going to a school in the north, as I love their style of cooking and some of the meals I am unfamiliar with. But I know that my mother will kick against it if I bring that up. I decide I will do the research on my own so I can apply to the school before they close accepting new admissions. I watch the road as Dad drives the car. I see it's an unknown number. I have four missed calls. My brows furrow as I wonder who it is. I sigh and call the number back to find out who it is, sure that it isn't Maryann. She hasn't unblocked me yet. I dial the contact as I sit in the driver's seat of my red car, waiting for the person to answer. I see Mike step out of the house to welcome me, but I wait in my car to answer the call. My mind bugs me on how to win Maryann and make her realize that my intentions weren't a lie.
