LOGIN{Maryann's POV}
I'm standing in the kitchen, turning a plate of hot custard after finishing frying eggs for breakfast. I prepare Mike's breakfast too, my mind racing and wondering if his best friend will join us. Just as I turn off the gas cooker, the kitchen door swings open gently. Mike enters, walking up to me with a bright smile on his face. He's wearing a yellow top that hugs his chest, paired with black jeans and slippers, since he's already had his bath. "Wow, sis. I don't think I should have hired a chef since your food is aromatic and smells delicious," Mike grins, strolling up to the cooker to meet me. I smile at his words, shifting his plate of custard and milk to his view as I pass him a plate of fried eggs too. "It's just simple frying of eggs. What's so hard in it?" I ask him, blushing as I meet his gaze while he towers above me. "Hmm. It's not easy to fry eggs as delicious as yours. The last time I tried frying eggs, they got burnt, and I ended up throwing them away," Mike says, his face darkening with rage at the recollection of his inability to cook. "You don't like cooking. Besides, cooking is for girls," I reply, grinning at his inability. "It's fine. Men don't have to worry about cooking. Your wife will take care of that," I add, as I finish pouring fresh liquid milk into the custard and peer at his face. "You're right. So, that reminds me. Sunny told me that he skipped breakfast with Jessica at his house, because he doesn't want her to follow him here. So, you have to make his own portion," Mike says apologetically. "Oh!" I pout, not wanting to cook for anyone. "I cannot cook for your friend," I complain, even when my heart swells with joy at the prospect of cooking for Sunny. Will he like my cooking? What if he rates me badly? I don't want to hear Sunny bad mouthing my cooking. But remembering that I caught him smiling and chatting with someone, I frown and don't want to waste my energy on him. He has a girlfriend. "Please…" Mike begs, and I roll my eyes. "Fine. I hope Sunny is the only one I get to make breakfast for. If another of your friends is coming here to eat breakfast, then you will be the one to cook for them," I mutter, glaring at my brother's face. He grins and carries the two plates of custard that I prepared for myself and him. "None of them will be here until 6pm. Sunny and I have some work to do on my laptop. That's why I called him over. One more thing, my two girlfriends will be here at noon. So get prepared to welcome them. I will take this meal for Sunny and I," Mike says. His hands quickly carry the two plates away as he steps away from the island. "Hey, that's my own food," I call after him, but he's already rushed out of the kitchen door. "Make another breakfast. Please," Mike begs, bobbing his head in before shutting the door, leaving me alone. "Fine," I grumble and reach for the frying pan to make another plate of eggs, before preparing another hot custard for myself. After I finish cooking my breakfast, I want to step out to the dining room, but I think Mike and his friend are there, and I don't want to hear any teasing. I don't think my heart can stand it if Sunny doesn't like the food. It's just custard? It's not like it's a heavy meal. I move to the kitchen dining table to have my breakfast alone. My mind replays the moment I crashed into Sunny at the stairs. Did he tell Mike about it? There's no way I will join Mike and his friends at the dining room table. They're discussing soccer, as I hear Mike complaining about the referee who cheated during a last match. Their argument gets so serious that you'd think they're quarrelling. Shaking my head, I quickly finish my breakfast and clean up the kitchen. When I step out, Mike and Sunny are still eating the bread and eggs, as they're done with their custards. Sunny's gaze locks with mine and my cheeks flush, but I try to stay calm and act like I'm not affected by him. "Maryann, where's your own breakfast?" Mike calls out to me when he sees me striding away to the stairs. I'm consciously aware of Sunny's gaze on me and don't want to turn and meet his eyes. But when I hear Mike's question, I know I can't avoid him. "I am done. I will be in my room." "Are you sure?" Mike asks, standing up to meet me. I take a step back as I reply, "Yeah. I ate in the kitchen." "Are you avoiding Sunny? He won't do anything to you. You should see him as your brother and not allow what Mom says to affect your reasoning, alright?" Mike says with a smile, and I can't believe he's bringing that up. "Sure," I reply, casting a glance at Sunny as I see him frown. Why is he frowning? Does he think my brother is wrong? Anyway, I don't ask him as I quickly climb the stairs and rush back to my room. Once I enter my room, I hear my phone ringing on the shelf. When I rush to pick it up, I see it's Ruth Clement on the line. Taking a seat on my bed, I quickly answer her. "Hello, Ruth. What's up?" "I'm at your house. Since you invited me on time, I'm bored and I don't have anything doing. Can you come over and ask the security man to let me in? He says it's your mom's order and no one is allowed into the house until six in the evening." I roll my eyes at her words, unable to believe that my mother already banned females too from coming to our home. "Fine. I will be there. Just give me a moment," I reply, because I wasn't expecting her to show up early at my home. The thought of meeting Sunny again in the living room makes me uncomfortable. "Fine. I'm waiting," Ruth says patiently. I quickly rush to the door to exit the room. However, I meet Sunny and Mike ascending the stairs to the top floor.{Maryann's POV}I'm standing in the kitchen, turning a plate of hot custard after finishing frying eggs for breakfast.I prepare Mike's breakfast too, my mind racing and wondering if his best friend will join us.Just as I turn off the gas cooker, the kitchen door swings open gently. {Sunny's POV}Victoria texts me: Where are you, babe? I came over to your father's house and didn't find you there. Jessica said you left early for Mike's birthday.I reply to her chat: Yeah. I'm at Mike's home. Any problem?Victoria says: No. The party hasn't started. Why did you go there early? I want us to spend some time together since you haven't been around lately.I roll my eyes reading her chat. Just then, I hear footsteps on the staircase, and I pause to see who it is.My gaze lands on Maryann. I stop reading Victoria's chat and put my phone away into my trousers' pocket.---{Maryann's POV}I'm lying on my bed crying when I hear the loud banging on my door, followed by my brother's loud voice."Maryann, what are you up to?" He pulls my door open and peeks his head into my room.I quickly sit up and wipe my tears away."Are you crying?" Mike asks, stepping into my room before I can stop him."No. I am not. I am just about to have my bath. Mom and Dad said that I cannot join i
{Sunny's POV}When I arrived at Mike's father's house, it was still early in the morning, around 7:30 a.m.My heart is racing just parking my car at the front of the gate. I pick up my phone and call Mike to let him know that I am at his home."Hello, buddy. Are you sure that your parents won't holla at me when they see me here? It's still early?" I ask him, as we have something we are both working on online."They won't bother you. Besides, it's my birthday and I want you to help with the preparation. What more?" Mike replies bluntly, like he's unaware that his mother has told him to warn us to stop coming to his house."Alright. I just arrived. Let me drive in," I say, knowing it's better that I get to greet Mike's parents first before they leave for work. Though my parents aren't around since they traveled for a business trip, that gives me the free liberty to do as I please.As I honk my car, I watch the security man step out to see who it is. Seeing me, he recognizes me. He's an
{Sunny's POV}"Brother, isn't today Mike's birthday?" Jessica asks me as she rushes downstairs to catch up with me just as I get prepared to leave for my best friend's house.It's been long since I last visited Mike. I stopped going to his house because his parents warned him to tell us to stay away.I had asked Mike why. He said it's because of his baby sister. But Maryann isn't a baby anymore. She is 18 years old, and I am desiring to see what she will dress like in a bikini or short seductive dress.Mike is possessive of his sister. I last saw Maryann at the high school graduands' party, when I went there to represent my parents.My father is a billionaire CEO, travelling around the globe with Mom, who worked as his secretary before they fell in love and got married. Till date, they rarely make time for my sisters and me. And so, I had to represent Dad and attend Jessica's send-off from high school.That was the only time I got to see Maryann. But she was dressed in a black graduat
{Maryann's POV}Dad is tall and dark-skinned, like my brother. He's a 50-year-old man with short brown hair. They could pass for siblings because my Dad takes care of his looks more than anything—after all, he's a banker."Ann, I hope we will be home before the party takes off. But you should stay locked up here. Don't go close to any of Mike's friends. He says they will have a pool party, and also, he will invite the chef who will take care of everything. Just stay here. Please..." Mom pleads."Mom, that's not possible. I will not stay here. It's my brother's party, so I will join in the preparation," I say stubbornly.Dad strides into my big pink-painted room, and I greet him, "Good morning, Dad.""Maryann, your mother is right. Mike is having a party here. I already told him no, because of you. But he says that he will keep an eye on you. I don't trust your brother. Neither do I trust his friends. You should stay put here. I will get loads of gifts for you. Just name it. But you ca
{Maryann's POV}Today is my brother's birthday party. Mike Matthew is going to turn 21 years old. He's a soccer player—tall, dark-skinned, with a strong athletic build. He informed me that he has invited several of his friends to our home for his birthday celebration.Our parents are busy people. Dad, Mavin Mathew, works as a banker, and Mom, Ella Matthew, is a television broadcaster. So they can't even take a break from work to celebrate Mike's birthday with him today, especially since he's now 21.My brother Mike plays for a local football club, and he wears the number 7 on his jersey. He's my only sibling. We live in a big mansion, a duplex. My room is on the top floor, and so is his. So I rise from my bed as early as 7 a.m. to get ready for his birthday preparations.It's an exciting Friday. I quickly rush into my bathroom to have my bath.The previous night, we were in the parlor having a discussion when Mike sat on the black couches after dinner and asked me, "Ann, my friends wi
