last update Last Updated: 2025-06-27 20:17:47

Lucy’s POV

I stood with my pregnancy bump prostrating under the blood moon, completely barefoot and shaking. The night air did its own by romancing and kissing my skin, cutting through it and sharp as blades, but that didn't make me change my mind.

Well, not anymore, after everything I've passed through.

“Are you really sure you want this for yourself?" Elder Nyra asked, and in her silver eyes, I could see concern from how she searched mine. “I wish to bring it to your notice that there's no going back, child.”

“I was cruelly thrown off a cliff and allowed to die,” I said quietly, “but in all, I still survived. Nothing can be compared to the sin of betrayal, especially from those you once dined with. Let the moon not hesitate to do whatever it must.”

The circle of elders who had tagged along stood around me. They were heavily cloaked in shadows, and as I listened to them, I could not grab even a word of what they were murmuring, as it was an ancient chant. The chants kept vibrating th

Lucy's POV "Hold still, my queen," one of the maids cooed, pinning the final golden hairpiece into my curls.I tried to smile as the room buzzed around me, satin fabric rustling and perfume thick in the air. "You look radiant, Queen Luna," another maid said. I didn’t bother correcting her name slip. Lucy. My name is Lucy.As they backed away, their work done, they beamed at me with pride. To them, this was a fairytale. But I knew better. This was a story written in blood and regret.Once they’d left, the silence in the dressing chamber wrapped around me like a second veil. My eyes drifted to the full-length mirror. I looked... regal. Golden threads weaved through my ivory dress, the embroidery strong, just like the woman I had to pretend to be.A knock came. "Come in," I said, bracing myself. My brother, Eli entered, his face softening when he saw me. "You look... like a queen."I chuckled. "That’s the idea."He approached slowly, then pulled me into a hug. For a moment, I allowed my

Lucy's POV The moonlight poured gently onto the graveyard, casting shadows that danced with the breeze.I stood quietly by a gravestone carved with the name Ryker that still haunted my dreams and controlled my every heartbeat. My fingers brushed across the cold stone, the carved letters biting into my skin with memories I could never erase."I'm sorry," I whispered, kneeling before it. My voice trembled, but not from the cold night air. My chest ached, my soul torn between duty and love. "Tomorrow... I'm getting married." My lips quivered as I spoke. "To Malachi, your brother."I swallowed hard."The same one who you killed —or so we thought, on the battlefield," I choked out, tears streaming down my cheeks. "I don't have a choice, Ryker. At this point, none of us do. I wish you were here... I wish you hadn’t died."Nothing but silence answered me—still and painful. I wiped my tears with the back of my hand, breathing through the ache I felt in my chest.A sudden howl pierced the n

Luna's POV I tiptoed past Damien’s room like the floor was made of glass. His door cracked open slightly, but it was enough to send shivers up my spine. I wasn’t ready for another encounter with him—hell no, not today. When I passed his room safely, I bolted down the hallway, grabbed the nearest loaf of bread from the dining table and headed straight for the backyard.Sunlight bounced off the trees as I stepped onto the grass. I scanned the training yard and spotted Ray and Elena. They were sparring, both focused and swift. I stopped in my tracks, watching them. Elena ducked, swung low, and tapped Ray's shoulder with the hilt of her weapon.“Too slow,” she teased, grinning.Ray chuckled. “You wish.”They circled each other again, light on their feet. It was playful but intense—this whole princess royal guard thing had made them closer friends. Something sharp tugged in my stomach when Elena laughed and nudged Ray’s chest. I clenched the bread in my hand.“Mind if I join?” I asked im

Elena's POV "What do you mean she's marrying my uncle?" My voice echoed across the walls of the Alpha's living room.Uncle Eli stood silently, holding the golden-colored invitation in his hand, its golden seal already broken. "Elena... I know it sounds wrong, but your mother has no choice. It's the only way she can protect the kingdom and buy time.""Buy time? By marrying her dead husband's brother? My dad hasn't even been buried for a full week!" My voice cracked at the edges, my fists clenching at my sides."She’s doing what she must to survive this. To keep things from falling apart."I shook my head in disbelief. "I don’t care about her reasons. This is insane! And I hope she doesn’t expect me to show up and smile through all this madness."Uncle Eli sighed deeply, looking older than usual. He extended the invitation toward me. "The Alpha and the Queen have already received theirs. She wants you there. You need to be there for your mom."I didn’t take it. I only stared at the car

Lucy's POV The doors to the throne room groaned open, and I turned my head slowly, expecting yet another councilman with a new complaint. But the moment my eyes locked on his face, I froze.Malachi! He looked exactly the same. The same sharp jawline and icy cold eyes that used to haunt my nightmares. But he shouldn't be here. He couldn’t be here. I saw Ryker kill him with my own eyes."Malachi," I said his name like it burned my tongue. "What are you doing back here? I watched Ryker kill you. I saw you die."He chuckled darkly and stepped further into the room, his boots echoing off the floors. "Did you know? Well, none of that matters now, does it? I'm here. That’s what counts."Before I could react, he moved—fast—so fast I barely had time to blink. He was suddenly inches from my face, his cold fingers gripping my chin. I tensed. I remembered that speed was his power."Let go of me," I hissed. He grinned. I spat into his face.Malachi staggered back, wiping the spit with the back of

Some days prior…Lucy's POV The room was quiet, except for the clock ticking on the wall. I sat cross-legged on my bed, a faded leather-bound photo album resting on my lap. The light from the bedside lamp flickered against the pages as my fingers brushed across the edges. My eyes landed on a picture of Ryker, his arms around my waist, both of us laughing at something long forgotten. My lips trembled.A slight sob slipped from my throat.Tears started to fall, rolling down my cheeks as I pressed the photo to my chest. "I'm so sorry, Ryker," I whispered, my voice a bit shaky. "I couldn't save you. I wasn't strong enough."My gaze flicked toward the large window that opened to the moonlit garden. The wind rustled the leaves in the trees, casting shadows into my bedroom. My heart ached at the memory of our midnight walks through those very paths, hand in hand, talking about everything and nothing at the same time.I sat at the edge of the bed, staring into the mirror across the room.
