Chapter 11: Breaking Headlines

"I'm bored," Mia sighed, kicking her legs on the office sofa. She had finished her third donut.

"Me too," Alex put down his iPad. "Coding is fun, but staying in this room is inefficient for my physical development."

Jackson wiped a crumb off Mia's face. He checked his schedule. He was supposed to have a lunch meeting with a senator, but...

"How about we go to Wonderland?" Jackson suggested casually.

Serenity looked up from her computer. "Wonderland? The theme park? Jackson, you are in a three-piece suit. And I'm in high heels."

"We can buy new clothes," Jackson stood up, lifting Mia effortlessly onto his shoulders. "Mia, do you want to ride the carousel?"

"Yes! Yes! Go!" Mia cheered, holding onto Jackson's expensive hair like a bridle.

Serenity looked at Alex, whose eyes also lit up slightly. She sighed. She couldn't say no to them.

"Fine. But if the paparazzi catch us, I'm blaming you."

An hour later. Wonderland Theme Park.

It was a Saturday, so the park was packed. But for the Sterling family, VIP passes meant no lines.

Jackson had changed. He was now wearing a simple white T-shirt and jeans he bought from the gift shop. It was shocking how good he looked. Without the suit, he looked younger, like a college student with the body of a Greek god.

Serenity wore a matching casual outfit. They looked like a perfect young couple.

"Daddy! Faster!" Mia laughed. They were on the spinning teacup ride. Jackson was spinning the wheel with grim determination, trying to make his daughter laugh, while Alex looked a bit dizzy.

"This ride... violates the laws of physics," Alex groaned, holding his stomach.

"Hold on, son," Jackson laughed—a sound so free and happy that Serenity stared at him in disbelief.

Was this really the cold, cruel man she divorced? Or had he been possessed by a golden retriever?

After the rides, they walked down Main Street. Jackson carried Mia on one arm and held a giant cotton candy in the other. Alex walked beside him, refusing to hold hands but sticking close to Jackson's leg.

It was a picture-perfect family moment.

Flash! Flash! Flash!

The inevitable happened.

"Oh my God! Is that Jackson Sterling?"
"Who is the woman? And... look at those kids!"
"They look exactly like him! Are those his secret children?"

Dozens of phone cameras and professional lenses pointed at them from the bushes.

Serenity panicked. She tried to pull up her hood to hide her face. "Jackson! People are taking photos!"

Jackson stopped walking. He didn't hide. He didn't run.

Instead, he shifted Mia to a more comfortable position and reached out his free hand to grab Serenity's hand.

He interlaced their fingers tight.

"Let them look," Jackson said loudly enough for the crowd to hear. His chin was raised high. "Why should I hide my wife and children?"

Wife.

He didn't say ex-wife. He said wife.

Serenity's heart skipped a violent beat. "Jackson, are you crazy? This will ruin your reputation! The stock market..."

"I don't care about the market," Jackson looked at her, his eyes burning with intensity. "I only care that everyone knows you belong to me."

He pulled her closer, turned his face to the cameras, and smirked.

The shutter sounds went crazy like machine gunfire.

That evening.

The internet exploded.

[BREAKING NEWS: Billionaire Jackson Sterling's Secret Family Revealed!]

[SHOCKING: Who is the mystery beauty? And the genius-looking twins?]

[Goodbye, Chloe! The King has a new Queen.]

Photos of Jackson carrying Mia and holding Serenity's hand were plastered on every news site, blog, and social media feed. The resemblance between Jackson and Alex was so undeniable that no one even questioned the DNA.

Inside the Sterling Villa.

Chloe sat on the floor, surrounded by shattered vases and torn magazines.

She stared at her phone screen. The picture of Jackson smiling at Serenity in the teacup ride stabbed her eyes. He looked... happy. Happier than he had ever been in five years with her.

"They have kids..." Chloe trembled, her nails digging into her palms until they bled. "She had his kids!"

This changed everything. Jackson might leave a woman, but a Sterling never abandoned his blood.

"I can't lose him," Chloe's eyes turned dark and manic. "I waited five years. I won't let some random kids ruin my life."

She dialed a number. Her voice was raspy and filled with venom.

"Hello? I want to hire someone. No... I want you to dig up dirt on someone. Serenity Lewis. Or Vera. I want to know everything. Especially about those bastard children."

Chloe hung up, looking at the photo again.

"Enjoy your happiness while you can, Serenity," she hissed. "Because I'm going to turn it into a nightmare."

Sparks showered from the ceiling. The sound of tearing metal was deafening. The dining car groaned and tilted violently to the right. Tables, chairs, and expensive wine bottles slid down the slope, crashing into the wall.Jackson slammed one hand into a window frame, his other arm locked around Serenity’s waist. He stopped them from sliding into the pile of broken glass below."Don't let go!" Jackson shouted over the noise.Serenity looked down. Through the shattered window beneath them, she saw nothing but swirling snow and darkness. They were dangling over a canyon."The coupling is breaking!" Serenity yelled, pointing to the metal hook connecting their car to the rest of the train. It was stretching, groaning under the weight.CLANG.The door at the top of the tilted car (the one Zero left through) was kicked open. Two figures rappelled down into the car on zip lines. They wore sleek, matte-black armor. "Close your eyes," Liam commanded softly. The nursery was dimly lit. Aurora and Alex lay on the large rug, pillows under their heads. Liam sat between them in a lotus position. Jackson and Serenity watched from the couch, feeling useless but alert."Grandpa, this is unscientific," Alex muttered, keeping one eye open. "Telepathy isn't real.""Quantum entanglement is," Liam placed a finger on Alex's forehead and another on Aurora's. "Connect."A pulse of violet light rippled through the room. The Dreamscape.Alex gasped. He wasn't on the rug anymore. He was standing on an endless plane of pure white water. The sky was white.
