Sara's POV

“Where the hell are you, Sara?”

Dave’s voice came through the phone again, hard and impatient.

My heart jumped, but not because I was afraid of him. I knew exactly what had happened. The man at the house must have called him the moment I left, and now Dave knew I had been in Indiana.

I slowly pulled away from Horace and turned toward the mirror.

My reflection stared back at me, my hair slightly disheveled and my lips still swollen from the night before. I forced a smile onto my face,

Horace's POV I knew I shouldn't be thinking about her, but I hadn't been able to get Sara out of my head since the night in Indiana. Even as the meeting dragged on, my mind kept wandering back to that moment when she had slipped out of her robe. I wanted to see her naked again. I wanted to run my fingers through her hair, pull her closer, and satisfy the restless desire that had been tormenting me since I left Indiana. No matter how hard I tried to distract myself, my thoughts kept returning to her, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to pretend that what had happened between us meant nothing. “Let's call it a day,” I announced, interrupting the discussion. The men on the other side of the screen nodded in agreement, and I ended the meeting. As soon as their faces disappeared from my laptop, I leaned back in my chair and rubbed a hand over my face. I knew Sara was home al

Liz's POVI hated it here. I fucking hated the sight of him, and every time I felt his presence, I wanted to scream. I couldn't wait for Dave to divorce Sarah so he could finally be mine.It was morning, and I was lying on the bed with absolutely nothing to do. I should have been on my way to my pedicure appointment, but an email I received the previous night had ruined my plans. My credit card was no longer available for use.Fucking Horace Beckham.I had made a mistake marrying him. No, he had deceived me into believing he was the man I needed, when I should have been married to Dave Wright instead. Dave was the kind of man I deserved, a man who could give me anything I wanted without making me feel guilty for spending his money. Horace, on the other hand, had become nothing but a burden.I hissed when he walked into the room.“Are you going to be at home all day?” I asked irritably. “Sho

Sara's POV My alarm rang at four in the morning. For the past five years, four o'clock had been the beginning of my day.I would wake up, slip out of bed, and start preparing Dave's things before he woke up. I would iron his shirts, prepare his breakfast, make sure the house was clean, and arrange everything he might need before he left for work. That morning, I turned off the alarm and sat up.For the first time in five years, I was getting up for myself.I walked into the bathroom and took my shower while Dave remained asleep. He usually woke around six, and I wanted to be dressed before then. When I finished, I went downstairs and made myself a cup of coffee. I carried it back upstairs and walked past the laundry basket. Dave's clothes from the previous day were still inside.Normally, I would have picked them up, put them in the washing machine, have them washed and dried, ironed them, and returned them neatly to his wardrobe. That morning, I looked at the clothes for a moment a

Sara's POV When I pulled into the driveway, the first thing I noticed was Dave's car. He was home. I remained in the driver's seat for a moment, staring at the house through the windshield. After everything Fiona had told me that morning, I knew I needed to be careful about every answer I gave him. I reached for my phone and switched it off. Then I stepped out of the car, lifted the corners of my lips into what I hoped looked like a normal smile, and walked toward the house as though I had not spent the morning discovering a clause that could cost me everything if I divorced my husband. The moment I stepped into the living room, I saw him. Dave was sprawled across the couch, facing the door, as though he had been waiting for me to walk through it. He stood immediately. "Where the hell have you been, Sara?" He demanded. Before I could answer, he crossed the room, grabbed my wrist, and looked directly into my eyes. "Are you cheating on me?" For a moment, I simply st

Sara's POV I sat in Fiona Parker's office with my fingers clasped tightly together, my thumbs moving against each other as I stared at the closed door.I had barely slept the night before. The email had stayed in my mind for hours, and every time I thought I understood what Fiona could possibly have found, another possibility made my stomach tighten.Footsteps sounded in the hallway, and I immediately straightened in my chair, forcing a smile onto my face. The door opened, and Fiona walked in with the same calm expression she had worn the day before."Good morning, Sara,” she said with a calm smile. “How are you doing?"I managed to offer her a smile, even though my heart was racing."To be quite frank,” I said, “I haven't been doing very well since I received your email last night."Fiona gave a small nod as she walked to her desk and sat down. "I thought that might be the case.""How bad is it?" I asked, leaning forward. She paused for a moment before opening the folder in front of

Dave's POVI had been checking my phone all morning.Sara had promised she would call me when she got back to Chicago, but the call never came. I checked the time again, then looked at my phone as if staring at it long enough would somehow make her name appear on the screen. This was not like her.The Sara I knew would have called me ten times by now. She had always been like that, constantly filling my phone with calls and messages until I had no choice but to answer. She was clingy, and annoyingly so.There had been days when I had put my phone on Do Not Disturb simply because I could not stand the constant ringing. Now, nothing. Not one call.I checked the camera feed again. I had access to the cameras around the house, including the kitchen, our bedroom, and the front porch, and from what I could see, Sara had not returned home.Where the hell was she?"Dave, you haven't
