Chapter 2

作者: Tea Dust
“Fiona, stop making things up,” I said, forcing down my anger.

Only then did I finally understand that this whole livestream spectacle had been staged for this very purpose.

“We’re practically family. There’s no need to be so formal between us,” Fiona said, blinking her sly eyes.

“After all, we know each other well. With your son marrying my niece, both sides can rest easy.”

As she spoke, she reached out, trying to pull the two children’s hands together.

I slapped her filthy hand away and glared at her.

“Rest easy? You might trust Leo with her, but I don’t trust your niece at all!”

Fiona smiled greedily.

“Oh, come on. How can you say that?

“Leo and my niece get along just fine. He probably likes her too.

“Isn’t that right, Leo?” she asked, casting a sideways glance at my son.

Leo looked confused. He clutched the hem of my clothes and looked up at me.

“As a nanny, my son’s marriage is none of your business!” I gently stroked Leo’s head to calm him, then turned back to Fiona, my voice sharp with sarcasm.

I was done pretending not to notice and decided to lay everything out.

“Don’t think I’m stupid. Your niece has sticky fingers. She’s stolen plenty from my house, and she didn’t do it without your instruction.”

“You… You’re slandering me!” Fiona was both guilty and furious, her face flushing red in an instant.

At that moment, a male parent nearby suddenly grabbed my wrist. “Where’s your proof? Show it!”

Pain shot through my arm. I felt like my wrist was about to shatter, yet he twisted harder.

“No evidence, and you dare throw accusations around? Desperate people bite back like dogs!” he sneered. With a violent swing of his arm, he flung me aside.

I crashed heavily onto the ground, my vision spinning.

Gritting my teeth, I forced myself up. My eyes burned red, but I stubbornly refused to cry.

The wrist he had squeezed was already turning purple, trembling uncontrollably.

Yet no one stepped in.

All I heard were waves of mocking laughter echoing around me.

After enjoying the chaos, Fiona seized the moment. She quickly grabbed Leo’s small hand and dragged him toward an ink pad nearby.

“Stop!”

Reacting on instinct, I ignored the pain in my body and slapped her hand away.

The absurd contract flew into the air and tore cleanly in two.

Leo finally snapped out of it. He clutched his sore wrist and whimpered softly in fright.

“What are you doing?!” I shouted, shoving Fiona away.

I crouched down and wrapped Leo in my arms.

“I told you. Don’t touch my son!”

Unexpectedly, Fiona didn’t get angry. She laughed instead, then shot a look at her chubby niece.

The next second, the girl rushed over. Crumbs still clung to her mouth as she pressed her lips directly onto Leo’s.

Then she announced proudly, “Leo, I gave you my first kiss. You have to marry me now!

“My aunt said everything you have will be mine. Our family’s money is my money too.”

She ended it with a giggle.

I stared at her in disbelief.

This time, Leo completely broke down. He buried himself in my arms and wailed.

“Mom, I don’t want to marry her! I don’t like her!”

Fiona drifted over like a ghost and patted Leo on the shoulder.

“Oh, Leo, crying won’t help. You kissed her, so you have to take responsibility. That means you must marry her.

“I’m basically her mother. So from now on, you’ll have to call me Mom, too.

“Come on. Come to Mom,” Fiona said, reaching for him.

Leo cried even harder. “I’m not going! You’re not my mom! I hate you!”

“Take your filthy hands off him!”

I swung my hand back and slapped Fiona across the face.

A bright red handprint immediately bloomed on her cheek.

I didn’t want to waste another word on people like her. So, I picked Leo up and turned to leave.

That night, a cautious private message from Leo’s homeroom teacher popped up.

[Ms. Francesca, this incident has had too much impact. To calm public opinion, would you consider issuing a public apology?]

The air was still for a few seconds. Then, a few of the parents finally reacted.“So Francesca was the real heiress all along! No wonder she carries herself like that.”“My god! So that ring was actually stolen?!”“Ha! Turns out he’s just a pathetic freeloader.”“What a pity. If Fiona hadn’t been recorded running her mouth, he might’ve actually walked away with half the assets.”With a loud thud, Anthony dropped to his knees and crawled to my feet like a dog.“Honey, I was wrong! If she hadn’t seduced me, I would never have betrayed you!”Clutching my calf, his voice trembled with sobs as he said, “Give me one more chance. Let’s remarry. I swear I’ll change. I’ll listen to you in everything!”I looked down at him coldly and kicked him away.“Sorry. You don’t get that chance.”Then, I poured the entire cup of coffee over his head. The liquid ran down his face, making him look ridiculous. My voice was flat as I continued, “I’m so disappointed in you. Now you can experience w

Just as Fiona was facing the camera, about to fantasize aloud about how she’d arrange her future dozens of Hermès bags…Three figures boarded the yacht silently.Caught completely off guard, Fiona jumped in fright, and her phone nearly flew out of her hand. The man in front wore a perfectly tailored black suit. His hair was immaculate, and he had a stoic expression. It was Alessandro, the family consigliere, sent by my father. Two equally cold-faced men followed behind him.Alessandro walked straight up to me and bowed respectfully.“Principessa.”A flicker of unease and confusion crossed Anthony and Fiona’s faces. The livestream comments erupted with speculation.[Principessa?][Is Francesca…?]One of the parents seemed to recall something. “Could she be from a mafia family?!”I nodded slightly at Alessandro. “You may begin.”With that, sound played from Alessandro’s phone.“…I stayed with him all night. He was completely taken with me.”“We often got together while yo

I didn’t spare them another glance before turning and leaving.Once inside my car, I dialed a number I hadn’t called in years, but knew by heart. The line connected. A familiar, deep voice answered. “My principessa.”“Father…” My throat tightened. “I want to return to the family.”…Thirty minutes later, outside City Hall.I leaned against my car, waiting.Soon, a Ferrari pulled up.Fiona was practically hanging off Anthony’s arm as they walked over, glowing with pride. When she saw me, the smugness in her eyes nearly overflowed. She lifted her chin on purpose, like a peacock that had just won a fight.“Oh? You came personally to welcome us? How thoughtful of you, Francesca.”I said nothing, only tilting my chin toward the entrance to signal them to go inside.I watched expressionlessly as the clerk went through the formalities.“Stamp.”“Stamp.”Two seals fell one after another. One landed on my divorce certificate, the other on their marriage license.Fiona immediate

All eyes snapped toward me, then, in unison, toward Fiona.Fiona was the first to react.Covering her face, she rushed toward Anthony, crying.“Honey! Honey, you’re finally here!”She threw herself into Anthony’s arms, sobbing dramatically.“She bullied me! She cursed at me and even hit me! Sobs…” Fiona pointed at me, her eyes blinking smugly. In the livestream, the comments instantly exploded.[CEO saves the day!][Watch the gold-digger get slapped in the face!]Nearby parents began whispering among themselves.“See? The real one showed up to back her.”“This woman really brought it on herself.”“Young people these days will do anything for money.”Anthony’s gaze lifted over Fiona’s head, cutting through the noisy crowd to land squarely on me.I raised my brow, clearly catching the flicker of panic in his eyes.Fiona was still wriggling in his arms, like a dog reunited with its owner. Finally, Anthony moved. He lifted his hand.Fiona closed her eyes, her face full of

The surrounding parents looked at me like I was trash.Suddenly, I noticed the oversized ruby ring on Fiona’s finger.“How did that ring end up on your hand?” I asked.Fiona instinctively curled her fingers, then immediately lifted her chin. “Anthony gave it to me. Got a problem?”“Oh, there’s a huge problem,” I sneered inwardly. “I bought that ring. The receipt is still in my drawer.”Fiona’s expression froze for a split second before she quickly switched to a pitiful look.“Stop slandering me! Anthony personally put it on my finger!”I nodded. “Fine. Then call him here and let him confront me personally.”Fiona shook her head and laughed smugly.“Do you really think you’re that important? He won’t come just because you say so.”Amid the noisy chatter, I took out my phone.Fiona crossed her arms, mockery written all over her face. She was clearly waiting to watch me embarrass myself.I put the call on speaker and dialed Anthony’s name, only for it to beep and disconnect.

For a moment, I thought my hearing had failed. In front of a field full of parents, teachers, and elementary school students, Fiona was actually shouting about becoming my son’s stepmother?I finally snapped.I didn’t care about the livestream anymore and swung my hand out before I could stop myself.“Smack!”The sharp sound cut through the whistle on the field.Fiona staggered back from the slap, her thick high heels sinking into the grass.Yet she was smiling. She pressed her tongue against her swollen cheek, eyes gleaming.“Ms. Francesca, you’re nothing. Whether I become his stepmother or not is up to your husband.”The parents immediately erupted.“I’ve disliked her for a long time. Dressing always like she’s on a runway, whoever marries her is doomed!”“Just a washed-up poor woman pretending to be rich.”I laughed coldly, sweeping my gaze across their fence-sitting faces.“I, Francesca Decca, have never spent a single cent of a man’s money. But as for all of you…“I
