Dante’s POV

My fist struck the punching bag.

The impact echoed through the training room, followed by the heavy scrape of my shoes against the floor.

I hit it again.

And again.

This was how I had always released my anger. When the weight of the Syndicate became too heavy, I took it out on something that couldn’t fight back.

The world expected too much from me.

Every decision belonged to me. Every failure became my responsibility. Even sleep felt like a weakness I couldn’t afford.

“Where did your boyfriend go?”Dante entered the room and sat on the edge of the bed. His expression was carefully blank, but curiosity flickered in his eyes.I nervously bit my lip.“I chose you,” I whispered. His entire expression changed.“You’re staying?”I nodded. For a moment, Dante looked almost afraid to believe me. Then the hardness in his face softened, replaced by something warm and vulnerable.“So…we’re together again?”A laugh escaped me. “I guess we are.”A wide smile spread across his face before he quickly tried to hide it. He reached beneath his shirt and pulled out the chain I had taken from him.“I fixed it the day after you left.”I stared at the repaired clasp.“Well, I carried your bracelet everywhere,” I admitted, pulling it from my purse.Dante took it from my hands and fastened it around my wrist. The heart-shaped charm settled against my skin exactly where it belonged.“Dante,” I said quietly. He looked at me.“I don’t want to be with someone who’s afraid to

  • Promised to the Mafia Devil   Chapter 39 The Choice

I woke to Dante sleeping beside me.It wasn’t a dream. For once, the Mafia Devil looked completely unguarded. His dark hair was tousled, his bare chest rising and falling slowly beneath the sheets. Beads of sweat gathered along his forehead, and even in sleep, his expression remained tense.I watched him for a moment before carefully touching his shoulder.“Dante.”He mumbled something incoherent and shifted, making me smile. Then he jolted upright. His eyes darted around the room as though searching for an enemy. His breathing became ragged, and panic flashed across his face before his gaze finally found mine.“You’re safe,” I whispered. “It was only a nightmare.”I gently held his face between my hands.“I’ve got you.”His breathing slowly steadied, though sweat still glistened on his skin.“Haze is probably here,” he muttered, wiping his forehead.I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my body. I winced, and Dante immediately noticed.“Don’t move.” He stood and pushed his

I stood outside in the freezing cold, shivering so violently that my teeth chattered. Somehow, the winter air felt safer than the room filled with ruthless men.My thoughts were a tangled mess, and none of them made my decision easier.I couldn’t hurt Haze. He had been kind to me. He had given me a place when I had nowhere else to go, and I refused to break his heart the way Dante had broken mine.Dante was toxic. He was damaged, impulsive, reckless, selfish, and cruel.Haze was safe.He was the right choice.I tilted my head toward the sky. The stars shone brightly above me, beautiful enough to make me forget the chaos waiting inside. Nights like this reminded me that I was still alive. For a moment, the cold air filling my lungs felt almost peaceful.Everything was too much. Then a hand clamped around the back of my neck.“The Vipers,” a familiar voice hissed. My heart stopped.I turned slightly and saw my father’s face. His fingers dug into my skin, dragging me backward.“Please, F

Every failure became my responsibility. Even sleep felt like a weakness I couldn’t afford.I finally dropped to the floor and reached for my water bottle.Elias entered the training room with an unimpressed expression.“She isn’t dead.”I looked up. “What?”“Camila.”He held out a folder.“She isn’t dead. She’s very much alive.”I snatched the photographs from his hand. The first showed Camila standing on a balcony. Her face looked distant, and her eyes were fixed on something beyond the frame. Then I saw the second picture.Haze had his arms around her from behind.Camila was leaning into him.My

Camila’s POV“I’m actually terrible at shooting,” I whispered to Haze with a smirk. My first hit at the range had been lucky. Every shot after that had gone everywhere except the target.“Don’t worry,” Haze said, flashing me a grin. “Your amazing boyfriend will show you how it’s done.”Before I could answer, he threw me over his shoulder.“Haze!”I laughed as I dangled over his back.He carried me toward the shooting range while everyone stared. Nina stood near the targets, watching us with an amused expression.“I didn’t know you two were going public,” she said.Haze finally put me down.I smacked his shoulder and glared at him.He raised an eyebrow. Then he chased me.I ran through the training hall, weaving between groups of recruits while laughing so hard I could barely breathe. Haze followed easily, dodging everyone without slowing down.He caught my wrist and pulled me against him.I was panting, while he barely looked tired.“Your stamina needs work,” he teased, lifting my chi

Camila’s POVI woke up in Haze’s arms. His warmth surrounded me, and for a few quiet seconds, I allowed myself to enjoy it.Haze was kind. He didn’t look at me like I was something broken or useless. He wanted to protect me, and despite everything that had happened, I believed he would never intentionally hurt me.I climbed out of bed and glanced down.My underwear was torn beyond saving.I rolled my eyes, then pulled on one of Haze’s pairs of boxers instead. When I turned around, he was awake and watching me.“You look good in my clothes,” he murmured, stretching lazily.“Thanks.”I climbed back into bed beside him.Haze turned on his side and ran his hand along my waist.“I know this is sudden,” he said, “but would you be my girlfriend?”I hesitated.I should have said no. I had only known him for a short time, and my heart was still tangled up in Dante. But I needed to move forward.I nodded.A smile spread across Haze’s face.He relaxed against the pillows as if my answer had lift
