Went shopping with the kids

Chapter 5

    Alpha Kai

I glance at Ariel who is sitting in the backseat of the car with my kids as they both talk sweetly. I can't deny the fact that I love the bond between them now, and I also feel happy going out with them.

"Daddy, why do you suddenly want to go shopping with us?" Rubby suddenly asks the question I have been expecting, and I glance at her through the rear glass only to find her staring at me.

"Is it something bad?" I ask her, and she quickly shakes her head.

"No, dad, it's not. I'm happy you're coming with us," She smiles at me cutely, and I nod my head.

"Daddy, but lady Leila took us shopping last week," Nathan says after a few minutes of silence, causing me to glance at him again, releasing a deep sigh. Gosh is this how chatty these kids are?

"Do you not want to shop?" I ask him, and he quickly shakes his head.

"No, daddy. I saw a bicycle at the mall the last time we went there, and I want one," He says in his little voice.

"I will surely get it for you," I reply to him, and he squeaks excitedly.

I glance at Ariel whose gaze has been outside all this while. She looks like she has so many things running through her mind, and for some unknown reason that has made me act weird all this while, I feel so concerned and the need to ask her what is bothering her.

"Are you okay, Ariel?" Ruby's voice suddenly sounds from behind me as if she read my thoughts, and I can't help but smile that at least my daughter noticed that and is also concerned about her.

"Yes, dear. I am fine. I am just feeding my eyes with nature," She turns to face Ruby while having a wide smile on her face, and I feel my heart miss a beat. She looks so sexy when she smiles, and I can't help but admire her. Just what the fuck is this young lady doing to me?

Silence ensues in the atmosphere until we arrive at the mall.

"We're here..." Nathan squeaks excitedly, jumping down the car as soon as Ariel opens the door for him.

"Behave yourself, Nathan," Ruby scolds her, and I roll my eyes. Look who is taking up the responsibility of a sister. That's so nice.

"Will you wait here while I go in with the kids?" Ariel asks as she walks over to me, her gaze held low like she's scared of looking at me or something. What the hell am I even saying? Nobody is ever brave enough to look me in the eyes, not even a man, let alone a woman. I understand that I can be terrifying, but can she just please stop being scared of me? I don't want her to.

"I will come with you," I reply to her, and she slowly nods her head. She takes the kids' hands and strides toward the entrance door, while I trail behind her.

I must confess that the mall is stocked with expensive and beautiful clothes made for both young, adults, and babies too. They also have the best customer service here, and I must confess that I have been missing a lot not coming here to buy things by myself.

"Cut that crap, Kai. We both know that you're being like this because of Adelie," I quickly remind myself.

"Daddy, will you go around with us, while Ariel waits here?" Rubby requests as she runs to me and holds my hand while pouting her lips.

"Sure, baby girl," I ruffle her hair, leading her away with Nathan afterward, while Ariel waits for us in the waiting bench.

After spending over two hours going around the mall and selecting clothes since my kids kept forcing me, we finally leave the mall for the villa afterward.

"It was fun, right?" I ask Ruby as I drive down the road.

"Yes, it was," She replies to me excitedly.

"Did you have fun, Nathan?" I glance at Nathan and ask.

"Yes, daddy. It was so fun, and I wish we can do this more often," He smiles at me, and I nod my head.

After driving for what seems like forever, we finally arrive at the villa and I park the car neatly in the garage.

"I will take the kids to get some rest now. They must be tired," Ariel says to me thoughtfully after she hops out of the car, and I nod my head.

"Alright. Meet me in the garden when you're done putting them to rest," I say to her before I leave the kids with her, not after hugging them one after the other.

    "Greetings, alpha,"

    "Welcome, alpha,"

"Greetings, alpha," The maidens keep greeting me as I walk down the verandah a few minutes later, but I ignore all of them and head straight to my study to continue what I was doing before I left for the mall.

I push the door open as soon as I arrive at my study, but I stop on my track when I walk in and find Max sitting there with his legs on the desk. What the hell is he doing here? Don't tell me he hasn't left here for three hours that I left.

"You're here?" He raises his gaze to look at me, and I sigh briefly.

"Have you been here?" I ask him, walking over to sit on my chair, and he scoffs.

"Come on, stop talking as if you don't know me too well. We haven't talked about what I came here for, so why should I leave?" He rolls his eyes at me.

"Is that why you waited here for three hours?" I scoff at him.

"It's better than not seeing you. I know you won't leave your unfinished work, which means that even if you had come back at night, you would still come here. What difference does it make? I wouldn't have seen you again today if I had left earlier," He shrugs, and I shake my head unbelievably.

"What do you want this time, Max? Make it quick and short. I have something important to do," I say to him coldly, and he scoffs.

"Stop trying to use that voice on me. It won't work," He shrugs, and I sigh briefly.

"What do you want, Max?" I ask him, and he sighs.

"Why don't you talk to Philip about the contract?" He asks, and I bite my lip. Not again, please...
