Chapter 5
Alpha Kai
I glance at Ariel who is sitting in the backseat of the car with my kids as they both talk sweetly. I can't deny the fact that I love the bond between them now, and I also feel happy going out with them.
"Daddy, why do you suddenly want to go shopping with us?" Rubby suddenly asks the question I have been expecting, and I glance at her through the rear glass only to find her staring at me.
"Is it something bad?" I ask her, and she quickly shakes her head.
"No, dad, it's not. I'm happy you're coming with us," She smiles at me cutely, and I nod my head.
"Daddy, but lady Leila took us shopping last week," Nathan says after a few minutes of silence, causing me to glance at him again, releasing a deep sigh. Gosh is this how chatty these kids are?
"Do you not want to shop?" I ask him, and he quickly shakes his head.
"No, daddy. I saw a bicycle at the mall the last time we went there, and I want one," He says in his little voice.
"I will surely get it for you," I reply to him, and he squeaks excitedly.
I glance at Ariel whose gaze has been outside all this while. She looks like she has so many things running through her mind, and for some unknown reason that has made me act weird all this while, I feel so concerned and the need to ask her what is bothering her.
"Are you okay, Ariel?" Ruby's voice suddenly sounds from behind me as if she read my thoughts, and I can't help but smile that at least my daughter noticed that and is also concerned about her.
"Yes, dear. I am fine. I am just feeding my eyes with nature," She turns to face Ruby while having a wide smile on her face, and I feel my heart miss a beat. She looks so sexy when she smiles, and I can't help but admire her. Just what the fuck is this young lady doing to me?
Silence ensues in the atmosphere until we arrive at the mall.
"We're here..." Nathan squeaks excitedly, jumping down the car as soon as Ariel opens the door for him.
"Behave yourself, Nathan," Ruby scolds her, and I roll my eyes. Look who is taking up the responsibility of a sister. That's so nice.
"Will you wait here while I go in with the kids?" Ariel asks as she walks over to me, her gaze held low like she's scared of looking at me or something. What the hell am I even saying? Nobody is ever brave enough to look me in the eyes, not even a man, let alone a woman. I understand that I can be terrifying, but can she just please stop being scared of me? I don't want her to.
"I will come with you," I reply to her, and she slowly nods her head. She takes the kids' hands and strides toward the entrance door, while I trail behind her.
I must confess that the mall is stocked with expensive and beautiful clothes made for both young, adults, and babies too. They also have the best customer service here, and I must confess that I have been missing a lot not coming here to buy things by myself.
"Cut that crap, Kai. We both know that you're being like this because of Adelie," I quickly remind myself.
"Daddy, will you go around with us, while Ariel waits here?" Rubby requests as she runs to me and holds my hand while pouting her lips.
"Sure, baby girl," I ruffle her hair, leading her away with Nathan afterward, while Ariel waits for us in the waiting bench.
After spending over two hours going around the mall and selecting clothes since my kids kept forcing me, we finally leave the mall for the villa afterward.
"It was fun, right?" I ask Ruby as I drive down the road.
"Yes, it was," She replies to me excitedly.
"Did you have fun, Nathan?" I glance at Nathan and ask.
"Yes, daddy. It was so fun, and I wish we can do this more often," He smiles at me, and I nod my head.
After driving for what seems like forever, we finally arrive at the villa and I park the car neatly in the garage.
"I will take the kids to get some rest now. They must be tired," Ariel says to me thoughtfully after she hops out of the car, and I nod my head.
"Alright. Meet me in the garden when you're done putting them to rest," I say to her before I leave the kids with her, not after hugging them one after the other.
"Greetings, alpha,"
"Welcome, alpha,"
"Greetings, alpha," The maidens keep greeting me as I walk down the verandah a few minutes later, but I ignore all of them and head straight to my study to continue what I was doing before I left for the mall.
I push the door open as soon as I arrive at my study, but I stop on my track when I walk in and find Max sitting there with his legs on the desk. What the hell is he doing here? Don't tell me he hasn't left here for three hours that I left.
"You're here?" He raises his gaze to look at me, and I sigh briefly.
"Have you been here?" I ask him, walking over to sit on my chair, and he scoffs.
"Come on, stop talking as if you don't know me too well. We haven't talked about what I came here for, so why should I leave?" He rolls his eyes at me.
"Is that why you waited here for three hours?" I scoff at him.
"It's better than not seeing you. I know you won't leave your unfinished work, which means that even if you had come back at night, you would still come here. What difference does it make? I wouldn't have seen you again today if I had left earlier," He shrugs, and I shake my head unbelievably.
"What do you want this time, Max? Make it quick and short. I have something important to do," I say to him coldly, and he scoffs.
"Stop trying to use that voice on me. It won't work," He shrugs, and I sigh briefly.
"What do you want, Max?" I ask him, and he sighs.
"Why don't you talk to Philip about the contract?" He asks, and I bite my lip. Not again, please...
Chapter 6 Maximus Danielle "Why don't you talk to Philip about the contract?" I ask him, and with the look on his face, I need no one to tell me that he doesn't like the sound of that. Philip is a sixty-five years old awarded robotic engineer in the USA and the CEO of T&T Electronic company. Kai and I are going to be working on a project later, called the E-Detector project. E-Detector is a robot that detects nothing, but emotions, and also treat people who are ill. We want to build a big hospital in town, where only robots will be there to attend to both humans' and other creatures' needs. This is a strategy to add more fame and power to our pack and to make this happen, we would need the help of Philip. "I told you that I'm not interested in working with Philip. Look for someone else," He replies to me bluntly, picking up the book on the desk, and opening to a page. "Come on, Kai... We both know that there's no one else that can do this better than Philip, and tha
Chapter 7 Ariel POV I drag Amelie along the hallway, and once we walk into my room, I slam her lightly against the wall, glaring hard at her. "What the hell was that, Amelie? What were you doing with the beta?" I ask her, trying not to sound harsh on her, but why the hell would she do something like that? "Come on, Ariel... Stop making a mountain out of nothing, ok? That was just a harmless visit," She rolls her eyes as she walks past me and throws herself on my bed, while I stare at her unbelievably. "Wow! This bed is so comfortable... I think I should move in here with you soon because you can't be enjoying this luxury alone," She whines as she tosses on the bed while giggling. "I asked a question, Amelie. What was that?" I ask her again, and she sighs briefly as she sits up on the bed. "It was nothing, Ariel. I missed my way and found myself there," She shrugs sarcastically like what she did isn't a big deal. "You and I know that you didn't miss your
Chapter 8 Alpha Kai If it were to be someone else that did what Max did, he or she would've been six feet under the ground now, chilling in the underworld, but sadly, I can't bring myself to harm my best friend. "Ah!" I growl as I grab the flower vase from the desk and crash it against the wall, breaking it into pieces. I can feel my wolf struggling to take over me and destroy things, no one dare disrespects us and go scot-free, but I can't possibly let my wolf harm Max, right? "Calm down, Raul... Calm down," I whisper as I lean forward and grab the edge of the desk, clenching my fingers around it tightly as I shut my eyes, trying to control Raul. Things won't remain the same if he happens to take control of me. I may end up doing what I'm not supposed to have done. Suddenly, I feel the strong scent dominating me, and I snap my head up. I look around the room, searching for her, but it is obvious that she's not in there. Of course, I recognize the scent to belong t
Chapter 9 "Forgive me, alpha... I will wait outside," She quickly apologizes, turning to leave. "No, wait!" I say to her, and she halts abruptly, her body trembling in fear. Fuck! I hate that she's scared of me. Yes, I know this is crazy, considering how much I enjoy it when people are scared of me, how unbothered I am about people, but she? I feel so fucking different toward her. Turning to face Rosa, who has a shocked expression on her face, I signal her to leave. "But..." "Don't make me repeat myself, Rosa. Leave," I say to her, sitting on the chair. She must be thinking that I'm going crazy now. The alpha Kai everybody knows would never take something like this lightly. I would never have anyone barge into me like that, let alone see me doing some shit with a woman, that person would not live to tell the story, or maybe have his or her eyes plucked out of their sockets for the offense. "What are you still waiting for?" I snap at Rosa, and she quickly bows be
Chapter 10 Alpha Kai I walk briskly toward her room with Ruby, and I push the door open once I arrive at the doorstep. I stop on my track when I walk into the room and find her sitting on the bed, hugging her knees to herself while having her face buried between them, and crying profusely like she'd just lost someone. Strangely, I feel this unexplainable pain in my heart, seeing her like that hurts me for a reason I'm clueless about, and I bite my bottom lip. What could be wrong with her? It can't possibly be the bracelet, right? I squat down in front of Ruby and ruffle her hair. "Baby, why don't you go to sleep? Daddy will handle this, I promise," I speak to her softly, and she stares at me blankly. She's already close to tears, and I can only wonder what she has done to my kids that made them like her this much. "Daddy, you will make her stop crying, right?" Ruby asks, and I nod my head even though I am not sure yet. "Yes honey, I will do that. Just go to
Chapter 11 Alpha KaiI toss on the bed for the umpteenth time and sigh briefly. Ruby is already fast asleep beside me on the bed, and here I am trying to get some sleep for the past two hours but can't. Finally sitting up on the bed, I find myself standing up to my feet. I have no idea what is suddenly pushing me out, but the only thing on my mind is to go out and find her bracelet. You can say that I'm losing my mind, which I will agree to, but that won't stop me from finding it for her. I stride out of my room and head straight to the yard, where the trashcan is always kept. The villa is silent with nobody around since everyone must've been asleep by now. Staring at the tall trashcan in front of me, I run my fingers through my hair and take a deep breath, giving a second thought to the decision I've made. This is unlike me, Alpha Kai would never do something like this, but it seems like I'm helpless around this girl, it now seems like I'm so concerned about this girl tha
Chapter 12 Ariel POVNo matter how much I try to be fine, it's just not working. Looking at my hand and not seeing the bracelet makes me feel like I've lost everything. That is the only thing that was left with me, the only thing that may help me find my family later. I know it's just a bracelet that can easily be replaced with another one, but this is painful. "Will you come to pick us up later?" Ruby and Nathan ask simultaneously after I drop them off at the front of their school gate. Their school is just around the villa, and they can even come back home by themselves, but it seems like it's not safe for them, since they are alpha's kids, and the Alpha would have many enemies that would want to harm his kids. "Hmm. I'll do that. Be a good boy, and you, Ruby, take care of your brother, ok?" I squat and ruffle their hair. "Bye, Ariel," They both say before they walk inside the gate. I wait for them to meet their class teacher before I finally walk back to hop in the
Chapter 13 Alpha Kai I check my wristwatch restlessly for the sixth time and ruffle my hair impatiently. I have been waiting for her for the past hour, and she's not yet here. "Hey, dude," The door suddenly opens, and Max walks in with his two hands in his pockets. "I didn't remember asking you to come in. Why didn't you knock?" I throw him a glare, but he only shrugs as he pulls out the chair and sits on it, crossing his legs afterward. "I saved you the stress of throwing me out by not knocking. So, what's up?" He asks, and I roll my eyes at him. "Why are you here?" I ask him. "Why else? Of course, I'm here to ask what has come over you, Kai. This is not you," He replies to me, while I stare at him confusingly, wondering what he's talking about. "What are you saying?" I ask, clueless about what he's saying. "Do you love her this much, or are you infatuated with her curvy shape and fine face? The Kai I know would not sacrifice his sleep to search th
