Missing Him

Kade’s POV

Yesterday was fucking hell.

Throwing myself into training was supposed to help, supposed to get my head straight, but it didn’t do shit. The only thing I got out of it was medical clearance to play again. Which means I will be playing.

It also means my next game is against Rook’s team.

I don’t want to think about that. I don’t want to think about seeing him on the ice, about how it’ll feel to line up against him, to hear his voice, to deal with whatever bullshit he’s going to throw at me. Because I know him. He won’t just ignore me. He’ll push. He always pushes.

But that’s not today’s problem.

Today is just training.

Fastening my skates, I pull my gloves on, adjusting them as I glance up. Tyler’s watching me from across the room, arms crossed, waiting. I knew this was coming. I should apologize. The last time we spoke was at that bar when I flipped the fuck out on all of them.

Sighing, I shove up from the bench and walk over. “Look, I was a dick,” I mutter, rubbing a hand o

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Her Happiness

Rook POVKade is standing at the counter, fully focused, arranging fruit on a plate like it’s a goddamn art project. A full spread of Christmas-themed food covers the table, pancakes dusted with powdered sugar to look like a snowman, a Santa face made out of whipped cream, raspberries, and banana slices, and a Christmas tree crafted from carefully placed kiwi slices with pomegranate seeds acting as ornaments. There’s even a candy cane made from alternating slices of strawberries and bananas.I stop in the doorway, just watching him. The way his brows knit together in concentration as he carefully adjusts a strawberry on the Santa pancake. The way his lips quirk slightly, like he’s actually enjoying himself. This isn’t just some thrown-together breakfast. This is something special.“You do realise Harlow would be happy with a bowl of cereal, right?” I tease, stepping forward.Kade glances up, a smirk on his lips.

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Settling Into Life

One Month LaterRook POVStretching, I look at Rose."Maybe you should have done some of this before now?" She asks, and throws the tape toward me."We're good. Kade should be back to help.""Help? He's a diastar," she laughs, and I don't deny it.Kade will probably delay the process more than anything. "True, but variety is the key."We both laugh, and she places down the present. "Did he say how long he would be?"My head shakes. "No, he wasn't going to go. I had to force him." That's not a lie. Yesterday, he avoided work, and he planned to avoid it today as well. The only issue is that avoiding it yesterday resulted in issues that could have been sorted quickly, but because he didn't work, today it's worse."While I remember," she stands and walks out of the room before coming back with a present. "Harlow made me take her shopping one day, she got you and Kade a present.""Put it under the tree

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Going Forward

Kade POVWe find a booth near the window, the sun streaming in, making the moment feel even more relaxed. Rook drums his fingers against the tabletop, watching me. “So, where are we going after this? Since you failed to plan anything.”I take a sip of my coffee, thinking. “This was your plan originally, remember? I guess somewhere quiet. Somewhere without a crowd.”His head tilts slightly. “That’s rare for you. Usually, you like the chaos.”I shrug. “Just feel like having a day without noise.”He studies me for a moment, then nods. “Alright, I think I’ve got an idea.”Our food arrives, and I watch as Rook practically drowns his plate in syrup, drizzling it over the toast until it’s practically swimming. I take a bite of my own food, shaking my head as he happily digs in.“You’re worse than Harlow,” I comment.“She learned from

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Finding Happiness

Kade POV“Look at me,” I whisper, and when his eyes meet mine, the intensity nearly undoes me.I keep my movements slow but deliberate, watching as his breathing becomes more ragged. His hands move restlessly over my back, my arms, anywhere he can reach, like he’s trying to anchor himself.“I love you,” he says suddenly, the words punched out of him. “Fuck, Kade, I love you so much.”Something breaks open in my chest at his words, raw and unfiltered. I capture his mouth with mine, swallowing his moans as I finally give him what he wants, picking up the pace.“I’ve got you,” I murmur against his lips. “Always got you.”His body arches underneath me, and I know he’s close. I wrap my hand around him, stroking in time with my thrusts, and he comes with my name on his lips, his body tightening around me. The sight of him, flushed, breathless, completely mine, pushes me

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Finding Us

Kade POVI wake up wet, not from the water Rook threw over me, but sweat. Trying to move I can’t and I realise why. Rook is literally wrapped around my body like a fucking koala. My body is numb from his fucking death grip. “Rook,” I groan barely able to breathe. He kisses my neck and I smile.“Can I breathe please?”“No,” he mumbles and pulls me closer holding me tighter until I groan.“Oxygen needed,” I croak out as he tightens his holds. “I hope you’re into necrophilia cause I’m about to pass out.”Groaning he releases me slightly so I can actually suck in a full breath. I begin to turn in his hold until I’m facing him. “I thought you had got up and gone down?”“I was going to, then I decided to cuddle.” He shrugs and pulls me closer. “You’re back at work tomorrow, so I decided to kidnap you for the day.&rd

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Our Fun

Rook POVI slide my hand down his back, feeling him shiver beneath my touch.“Rook, don’t—”“Don’t what?” I trail my fingers between his legs, teasing but never giving him what he needs. “Don’t stop? But that’s exactly what you did to me.”He buries his face in the pillow, muffling a curse. His shoulders flex as he pulls against the restraints, the metal links clinking against the headboard.“Look at you,” I murmur, admiring the way the water has made his skin glisten. “All tied up and nowhere to go.”“I hate you,” he groans, but his body betrays him, arching back toward me.I lean down and bite the nape of his neck. “No, you don’t.”When I push back inside him, he makes a sound so raw and needy that I almost lose my resolve. But this is about teaching him a lesson. I set a rhythm that’s just shy of what

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Drunken Fool

Rook POVDragging Kade into the house is like trying to wrangle a damn toddler, if the toddler was drunk off his ass and the size of a hockey player. He’s completely gone, barely holding his own weight as he leans into me, mumbling incoherent shit under his breath. My dad stands by the wall, arms crossed, smirking like this is the most entertaining thing he’s ever seen.“Having fun?” he asks, clearly amused as Kade sways against me.“Nikolai!” Kade points at him like he just made the greatest discovery of his life.I sigh. “No, not tonight, Kade.” I push him forward, but he resists, turning his attention fully to my father. “You’re drunk, and you say stupid shit when you’re drunk. You might be taking over, but that doesn’t mean my dad won’t still beat your ass.”Kade just laughs, his eyes unfocused. “He can try.” Then, as if that

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Friends

Kade POVI walk towards Tyler. He’s sitting at a table near the back, his drink half-empty in front of him, watching everything but not really part of it. He looks up at me as I walk towards him. It’s been a long time since we’ve really talked. Since that night. Since the mess that followed. Since he ripped the fucking ground out from under me and made me see what I was about to lose.Tyler raises a brow as I sit across from him, setting my drink down on the table. “You avoiding me, Mercer?” he asks, taking a slow sip of his drink.I let out a breath. Yeah okay I've not sat alone with him since all the shit. I barely spoke to him before the game or during it. “Figured it was the other way around.”He watches me for a moment, then shrugs. “I was giving you space. Figured you’d either want to talk or knock my teeth out.”“Not gonna lie, I thought about it.”

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Celebrating

Kade POVThe night is loud, chaotic, and a little surreal. I’ve lost count of the number of times someone’s handed me a drink, slapped my back, or said some shit about my legacy on the ice. It should feel like a weight off my shoulders, like the closing of a chapter I was ready to walk away from. And yet, there’s this strange feeling sitting in my chest, like I don’t know what comes next. I do, I just never thought I would be in a place to give up hockey.I watch Rook across the bar, laughing at something one of his teammates said. He looks at home here, like he belongs in this world, like he always did. Maybe that’s what feels so weird, I spent my whole life believing I belonged here too. But now, after everything, I’m not so sure anymore.“Mercer, you look like you’re thinking way too hard for a guy who just won his last game,” Wes says, dropping onto the barstool beside me.I roll m
