LOGIN“Are you acting up?”
My heart shattered at his words, how could he forget that I’m allergic to nuts? I wanted to speak but Arianna suddenly screamed and Trent got up on his feet. “I think I’m having a heart attack!” she cried out, obviously lying. I watched as Trent scooped her in his arms and immediately headed for the exit. He held her like his life depended on it and he didn’t spare me a look. “Trent,” I called out, weakly but he was barking orders to some men and he left me behind. It became harder for me to breathe and I could feel life seeping away from me. I wanted to give up and let the darkness wooing me win, after all; no one cared about me, not even my own parents who left me in this cruel world or my mate who chose another woman over me. Desperately, I grabbed my purse and yanked out my antihistamine pill and popped it in my mouth. For two hours, I laid on the ground and no one came to my rescue, everyone had left immediately Trent exited. I dragged myself off the ground and hailed a cab back home. As I took a shower, I recounted all of Trent’s actions, how I’d given him a chance to choose us, to choose me but he didn’t and I decided it was time I stopped loving someone who was evidently never going to love me back. My bags were already packed and though it was past midnight, Trent wasn’t back yet, I didn’t hear from him - not even a text or call yet pictures of him taking care of Arianna was everywhere, and no one remembered me. I took my bags and left him a note ‘it’s evident you don’t want me in your life and you’re right, I’m not a member of this pack but I’ll forever be grateful to your Father for raising me. This is the least I can do for him, to free you of me. I’m out of your life, you never have to see me again and you certainly can now be with Arianna with me out of the way. Thank you for putting up with me for this long. Goodbye Trent, Celine.’ My eyes stung as I tried to hold back my tears. I went to Granny Bridget's room and dropped a little note for her, thanking her for looking after me and informing her that I'd be gone by the time she wakes up. I was done with pretending to be happy and being someone else's backup plan. The ride I ordered arrived and I showed him an address and as he drove out of the pack, I felt something like - Peace. For the first time in a very long while, I felt peace in my mind. There was no more worrying about Trent, about Arianna threatening my position as Luna, as all I felt was peace of mind.Celine There was a suffocating silence with every eyes acting like a torch light on me.Moreover, the full moon pack's elite acted as though I wasn't with a head.Trent's face explained that look that says I was a ghost.“Ce-ce-celine?” he stuttered again, this time his chocolate eyes were mystified and forlorn.I smiled but it was a fake one while I pushed my head up.“Miss Astra Blackwood,” I corrected in a harsh tone.“CEO of Glazier Enterprises. Heiress of Glazier Moon. And as I said, your future business partner.”Jerome went rigid beside him and that murderer intent fell off him.Trent surveyed Jerome, then at me as though he couldn't phantom for anything yet.But Arianna burst into laughter like she wasn't shocked or unfazed by my appearance. However, I sensed the panic in her eyes.“Oh my goddess,” she gasped, pressing a hand to her chest. “Celine? Our little orphan Celine?”And just like the elites who were once confused begs murmur."Orphan?""The one Trent abandoned?""Was
CELINE POVClouds. Beautiful clouds drifting away, soft, weightless, pregnant with beauty. I traced invisible lines on the window, a feeling of nostalgia towards the city beneath us as the airplane approached the airport.Last time I was in a plane like this, my heart was heavy, full of grief, hurt, bitterness and uncertainty. But today, returning back to the place I left months ago, I shared the characteristics of the clouds-weightless, beautiful and alive.“Are you ready?” A masculine voice asked, softly.Jerome Blackwood, my older brother and Alpha of Glazier Moon, sat beside me. The one who saved me at thirteen.I smiled at him in response and nodded softly. “It's good to be back.” A fleet of cars was awaiting us when we alighted and they greeted us with a magnitude of respect. Half an hour later, we checked in at the hotel we'd be staying at and I ordered some berry parfait, Greek yogurt and honey to deal with the jet lag.“Are you sure you're ready for this? I can do it on you
Trent's POV “How's she feeling Doctor?” I asked worriedly, as the pack doctor emerged from Arianna's room.“She's fine, it was a false heart attack. She simply had a little myocardial infarction. She needs to rest properly and I'll do the necessary work up and all.” He assured me.I heaved a sigh of relief and signed off the necessary consent forms before going ahead to see her in her room. She looked pale and smiled weakly at me.“Alpha Trent, I'm sorry I got you worried.” She apologized.I smiled and patted her head. Arianna was more than a beta to me, she's my best-friend’s sister. He died saving my life and made me promise to never let her get hurt.“I'm not mad at you Arianna, I'm just relieved you're fine.” I assured her.She hugged my body tightly and began to cry, I was alarmed but I patted her back, gently.“I'm so sorry you're going through all this trouble for me. I was so scared, I thought I was going to die.” She cried.“You're not permitted to die, not on my watch. I'll
By dawn, I was done packing my belongings, it was just a suitcase and a leather bag. I decided to retrieve the remaining half of the pendant Alpha Ryan claimed to have found on me when I was rescued, from Trent’s room. It was split in two and given to Trent when he knew we were mates. It was the only clue to my real identity and finding my family but that would be if I have one left. I successfully retrieved it and bumped into Trent on my way out. “You’re back?” I asked, startled. “What are you doing in my room?” He asked, suspicious. I stuttered and his expression softened a bit. “Are you mad I wasn’t around for your birthday yesterday?” he asked. I was taken aback by his question, he remembered my birthday. “I’m sorry I wasn’t around all day and I missed it, I had to accompany Arianna somewhere yesterday and couldn’t come back home in time but I’m going to make up for it. I made reservations at your favorite restaurant; will you freshen up and meet me in ten minutes?”
Celine’s POV. Beta Arianna is sick — The wedding is off.I scoffed softly as I read the text message and dozens of notifications flooded my phone, I opened it to find pictures of my supposed husband-to-be, carrying Arianna in his arms. There was softness in his eyes and I could tell that he has been gentle with her.‘Not anymore.’ I muttered to myself, determinedly before yanking off the bridal veil and walking out of the living room. “Are you alright?” Granny Bridget asked as she brought me a cup of coffee. It had rained throughout the day, heavily at that and he didn’t come. I was curled in a corner in my room, staring at the message on the pack’s group chat. They look perfect togetherI wish someone would look at me the way Alpha Trent looks at Beta AriannaThey’re the perfect coupleHe called off his wedding because of her. Are we sure they’re not mates?I bet Luna Celine also agree.I let the tear slid down my face and sniffled while Granny Bridget pulled me into a warm hug
