RAINE’S POVMaybe it was good that I got sick. I am always living life on the fast lane. Always busy with work, or with one of my playthings… Rest didn’t come easy, and I hardly welcomed it. I stretch out, feeling the emptiness of the bed on both sides of me. When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to find that I was alone. I sat up quickly, eyes scanning the room, ears listening out for any sounds that said I wasn’t alone. There was silence. I hold my silk sheets up my chest, eyes going over to the digital clock on my nightstand. It was barely 6am. I think about last night. How did things unravel that way?
