CHAPTER 6 | I WAS BORED

LORENZO'S POV

If I decide to laugh at every cute thing Echo does, I will be seeing as a mad man laughing for no good reason. It's pretty funny how she jumped on the bed with the hopes of possessing the dead body but she didn't. I mean, she is literally sitting under the hospital bed, thinking that she has possessed the dead body, really?

"I hope you know you are not in her body, because I can see you under the bed." I pointed out and she seems shocked.

"Really?"

"Yeah, get out from there. It didn't work." I seriously don't know what we are doing wrong, I guess I still need to make more research because we are obviously missing something.

"This is so stupid, I don't know why I believed you." She whined as she stepped out of under the bed.

I mean I know how frustrated she is right now, she is obviously struggling with the fact that she's a ghost and now it doesn't look like she can actually possess anyone, so I feel her pain.

"Sorry, I don't know what we did wrong but we can go around the hospital and see if there is another dead body we can try."

"No, let's just go home."

I decided not to press any further because it's obvious that she needs a break from all the drama. Just as we were about to leave the room, someone stepped in. "Hi, are you a family of the deceased?" The nurse asked as soon as she entered the ward.

"Oh no sorry, I think we entered the wrong room." I pointed out.

"We?" I don't know why I always forget that I am the only one that can see Echo.

"Sorry, I. I entered the wrong room, excuse me." I rushed out of the room before she could say anything else. I hurried out of the hospital and we made our way home.

It has been a long night and I can tell how disappointed and exasperated Echo is from how quiet she was after we left the hospital. I wish I could console her and make her feel better but I honestly don't know the right words to say.

"I'm sorry about tonight." I pointed out as soon as we got back to the house.

"It's not your fault, I was wrong to have believed that there is actually a possibility to come back to life." I hate that she thinks there is no hope for her because there is, we just haven't made enough research.

"I know you are disappointed and frustrated but you don't have to give up, I know we obviously don't have a way out yet but I am positive that there is a way out for you, we just need to make more research. Maybe we did something wrong tonight, just be open minded and hopeful, I will figure it out, okay?" I asked as I followed her to her room.

"What if I am just wasting my time believing that there is hope?"

"But what if you are not? Besides there is no harm in trying, after all you don't have any other better things to do or do you?" I mean if I was in her shoes, I don't think I will give up even though there is just a little hope of coming back to life, I will definitely try every option.

"I guess you are right."

"Good, I will allow you get some rest, see you tomorrow." I stated before walking back to the door.

"Enzo." She called just before I opened the door. "Thanks for today." She smiled a little.

"It's my pleasure." I stepped out of her room and I headed straight to my room.

Honestly, I am a little hungry but with all the horrendous things that I have seen today, the last thing I want is to eat anything, so I made my way to the bathroom and then I had a quick shower before getting in bed.

"Oh shit, I can't sleep." The memory of today keeps flashing in my head as I tried to sleep, from the accident scene to the dead lady in the hospital ward. "Fuck." I sat up since I can't sleep and I decided to make more research.

I picked up my laptop and I decided to find out more about Echo first, maybe there is something online that can give me an idea of the life she lives and maybe what led to her death.

She seems to be a private person though, there is no much information about her and even on her social media accounts, it appears that she has only one friend which is the same lady that showed up here and stole her identity. They have a few playful and goofy videos on her page which means her friend is the only person that might have an idea of what happened to Echo.

"Oh God, this is so complicated." I have a feeling that her friend knows what happened to her because there has to be a reason she feels comfortable to steal her identity, right? But how do I find out more without raising any suspicion? "Well I hope she can visit more and I can try to be friends with her and hopefully, I will find out more things about Echo from her." But I doubt she will come back here, Echo made me look crazy the last time she was here, I doubt that she will want to be hanging around me after my last behavior. "This is going to be difficult."

"Are you talking to yourself?"

"Arghhh." I screamed as soon as Echo spoke from the corner of my room. "Holy shit, I thought I was alone." I am going to die of a heart attack if this continues. "Why did you pop in like that?" I asked as I put my laptop to the side.

"Come on, relax. I have been here since you finished having your bath." She pointed out.

"What, that was a long time ago. You are ruining the concept of privacy, why the fuck are you here?" I asked curiously.

I mean I left her in her room and I thought that was it for the night but finding out that she has been here all along is fucking creepy.

"I was bored and I decided to come here, are you reading about me?"

"Yes, I am trying to understand your life and what happened to you but unfortunately, there is no much informations about you online, you seem to be a private person which is weird because you clearly don't understand the concept of privacy." I teased, I mean I like having her around because I hate being alone and she's very cute and fun but I don't like it when she creeps up on me.

"It's not my fault you didn't see me, I wasn't trying to scare you." She whined and I started laughing.

"Fine, anyways, it seems like you have only one friend. The same lady that stole your identity, so I have a feeling that she probably knows what happened to you and I have to get closer to her, so that I can find out what she knows." I am positive that she knows something and I need to find out.

"I guess you are right, she probably knows something, but why can't I remember anything? Shouldn't I at least know how and when I died?" It saddens me to see her sad and I have no idea why she affects me this much or why I even want to help her. I wish I have answers to all her questions but I don't, I have no idea what's happening to her or why it's even happening.

"Well I haven't been dead before, so I can't really explain what happened to you but I will do my best to help you, I will try to get all the answers you need." I assured her as I picked up my laptop again.

"Thanks so much, you are God sent."

"You can say that again, or you can just call me a handsome angel, sent to help you." I said proudly.

"You are so proud and you are not even that handsome, in fact, you are not my type." She pointed out but I know it's a fucking lie.

"Are you kidding? I am everyone's type, have you seen me?" I winked at her and she blushed. "Besides, you actions since I met you suggest that you like me, you have been standing at the corner, watching me. What does that tell you?" I asked curiously.

"It tells me that I am beyond bored." She pointed out and I started laughing.

"True but that's not all, it also means that you really like the view." I gestured to my face and across my broad chest and perfect torso. "You know I am right, if it was about boredom, you would have been anywhere else."

"Whatever makes you sleep at night."

"Laura Williams." I read out loud.

"What? What are you saying?" She asked curiously.

"Laura, does that name ring a bell?"
