She didn't hear Kay speak anymore.

Thea put her ear to the door. Her hand gripped the doorknob tightly. She was sure, Kay would know that she was lying to him. Thea had to. She hates complicated things. Thea couldn't explain it right now, because if that happened, she would have to explain everything from the beginning and Thea didn't want that. After not hearing Kay's voice anymore, she opened the bathroom door slowly.

The room was empty.

There was no more Kay there.

Little did she know that her conversation behind the door would be the last conversation for the next week between them.

Kay left without saying goodbye.

Elisa said because there was a call of duty.

Perhaps Kay was so mad with her that his departure for Berkshire had to be made known to Thea through her maid. But deep in Thea's heart, she was grateful. Kay didn't need to be here now, it allowed her to move more freely.
