My mother looks between the two of us contemplating what she will say.

"You are the children of Kieran, one of the original dragon shifters. He's the dragon king. The king of shifters. You're the children of Princess Yanessa of the fae realm. Your grandfather was the first archangel created, and the first fall angel. Lucifer, is the creator and ruler of Hell. Your grandmother is Queen Illianna of the fae realm. It's not just you being a hybrid that makes you unique. It's the fact that you carry all of these royal bloodlines in your veins. You also have the abilities of the fae, angels, and shifters. Most hybrids only carry a few of their parents abilities. But you two can wield them all."

"Romeo and I just stared at each other through my mirror. We didn't share our mother's enthusiasm. No matter how she spun it; we were different. Different from the mortals, paranormals, and even the hybrids. No matter what my mother said, we both knew being that different wasn't a good thing. We also knew our parents were putting us on display." I tell Doc Trent needing a break from recalling my nightmare for him.

"Remi, I don't think your parents were putting you on display per se. I think the ball was you and Romeo's introduction to the world." Trent says as he writes something down on his pad.

"No matter how you wish to see it; once I finish telling you about that night you will see we were in fact put on display." I tell him closing my eyes and going back to my dream.

We were all dressed and ready to go. My excitement for the ball had dimmed. We were different even from those that others thought were different. My father calls for the car, and a long white limo pulls up. My excitement returns full force. I get even more excited when my father asks me to save a dance for him at the ball.

Blaze and my older brother, Gunner, were standing on either side of the steps. They kept guard as we one by one climbed into the car.

We pulled up to a huge white stone building with big round columns. Blaze and Gunner were the first to get out. They were met by Aiden; Gunner's best friend. Gunner, taps on the car window giving us the alls clear to exit the vehicle. Lights flash. The sound of the cameras clicking can be heard over the shouting of reporters trying to their questions answered.

My mother and father grab me and Romeo's hands then stop to pose for the cameras. They ignore the questions as we walk towrds the building's door. Gunner, Aiden and Blaze follow behind us.

When we step through the door and make our way to the balcony; my eyes bug out. The ballroom is beautiful.  It's all golds, white, and silver. Huge crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling. Sheer white material crisscrosses from one side of the ceiling to the other and down three of the walls. One wall is a water fountain.

A man stands to the left side of the stairway of the balcony. He introduces each patron as they make thier way down the stairs. I watch as the couple before us walks carefully down the marble stairs. My mother whispers at me and Romeo to look out at the crowd and smile. When we step up to the top of the stairs the room goes quiet. As the announcer introduces our family cheers ring out. Cameras flash.

It's not just the room that has me in awe any more. It's the people also. The people are beautiful. It's all long flowing ball gowns in different colors and tuxedos as far as the eye can see. We slowly make our way down the stairs.

As soon as our feet hit the ballroom floor beings from all walks of life come at us. Each family introduces themselves. Those families with children close to us in age can't wait to introduce us to our potential mates. It was starting to overwhelming. Everyone wanted to meet the royal twins.

Romie, is bored by the three family introduction. When the fourth family comes and introduces him to their daughter; he rolls his eyes. I giggle. We get tired of the whole meet and greet situation and begin using our telepathy to talk to each other.

"I'm not choosing any of these girls for a mate. Mating is gross! And girls are grosser!" Romeo tells me.

"Hey, that's mean! I'm a girl and I'm not gross!" I pout.

"Okay, so you and mom aren't gross. But all the other females.....Yuck!"

"Is that Xavier?" I ask Romeo and he shrugs. We watch as our best friend talks to some kid.

"Who is he talking to?" I get another shoulder shrug.

"I think his name is Chauncy. Nope that's not it. Maybe Channing. Nah; that's not it either. Oh well who cares. I bet he's one of your suitors."

"Who?"

"Xavi!"

"Yuck! No way! Xavi is our best friend. That would be so weird. I don't have to worry about that for a long long time. Mating is for grown ups."

"Remi, we will be grown ups one day." Romeo takes my hand and we sneak away. He leads me across the room to the table loaded with food. Romie and I talk about being like Peter Pan. We stuff our faces with chocolate covered strawberries and little squares of cake.

Romie starts to say something, but a loud boom drowns out his voice. The earth shakes. Something falls on top of me. My knees hit the floor hard. Dust clogs my nose and throat.

I stop talking. I can't recant the rest of my dream. I can't breathe. My head is spinning. The walls begin to close in on me. My heart is breaking. Tears fall down my face.

"Remi, I need you to take a deep breath in then slowly let it out." Doctor Trenton rubs circles on my back; trying to soothe me. It's not working.

"Just listen to the sound of my voice. Deep breath in. Good. Now slowly let it out. You're doing good." We repeat the process of breathing a few times before i can finally draw air into my lungs. Trent passes me a box of Kleenex.

"I know this is the point in which you like to stop. However, today we are going to face this head on. You'll never get past this if you don't face it. I'm here with you, Remington. I'm not going to let you face it alone." Trent says. I nod my head in agreement and push forward.

I choke and fan the dust from in front of my face. I shove the chocolate fountain off of me, and push myself up to stand. When I realize both of my hands are free; I begin to panic. I look around me. But all I can see is dead or injured bodies, body parts, and debris. The ballroom is in chaos. I don't see Romie anywhere.

I scream for my parents, Gunner, Blaze, and Aiden. I scream for anyone and everyone that I know that's here. Paras and mortals alike are trying to flee from the building as it crashes down around them.

There's a tug and a tingle in my chest. I close my eyes and concentrate on the bond that connects me to Romie. I follow the link like a beacon in the night. I hurry as fast as I can dodging bodies and debris in the direction the bond is pulling me. Smoke begins to fill the room. I begin to panic. I scream Romie's name over and over.

Then finally a tiny but strong hand grabs onto mine. "I'm here Remi! Follow me. And don't let go!" Romie leads us through the room. People are pushing and shoving each other. As more smoke billows into the room. Romie and I are knocked around, but we hold onto each other.

We make it to the entrance of the ballroom, but it's hopeless. Half the stairway is missing. People are pushing and shoving each other as they try to climb up what's left of the stairs. Finally, Romeo points to a small opening at the top of a crumbled wall. We fight our way back through the crowd until we reach the massacred wall. Romie gives me a boost up then we climb what's left of the wall together.

Once we reach the other side Romeo leads me to a wall that still stands. And the roof seems to be in one piece. I wish I could say I was brave and strong. I was anything, but brave and strong. Romeo, wraps his arms around me and begins to rock.

"We stay here till someone finds us." I nod my head at Romie and let him continue to rock me. I pray that my parents, Gunner or Blaze finds us soon. Little did I know; that my prayers would be answered, but not soon enough.

"There you are!" Three big scary males walk out of the shadows. One of them carries a silver sword looking thing. I scream, and Romeo jumps in front of me to hide me from the males.

"Hide and Seek, Remi!" Romie shouts through my mind. I try to cloak myself by becoming invisible, but all I do is flicker in and out. I'm in emotional overload. My emotions are haywire. I'm bombarded by everyone around me's emotions. I try to focus. I swear I do, but all that I can seem to do focus on my fear of the three males surrounding us. One of the males tries to reach for me and I scream.

I scream so loud the already battered walls shake. We hear a thunderous roar, and I know the dragon is loose. It won't be long and my father will be here. And there will be hell to pay. Another roar and a piece of the ceiling falls. My dragon surges forward trying to break free. I keep trying to calm her and myself down so that I can cloak myself. I know Romie won't cloak himself unless I can too. He won't leave me.

Without warning; two scared young dragons stand before the three males. We're not small creatures, but we're ten times smaller than my father and Gunner. Another loud roar shakes the buildings foundation.

"Lets hurry and get this over with." One of the males says as he points a gun at us. Romeo lifts up on his hind legs and strikes out at the males. The males jump back laughing. They know we are too young to use our flames.

Romeo shouts at me through our mind link to cloak myself. He spreads his wings and kicks out with his front legs. A loud crunching slurping noise fills the air, and Romeo hits the floor. I roar and scream until my throat is bleeding. A piece of the ceiling falls crushing one of the males. A hellhound the size of a bear rips off the head of one of the males. A wolf shifter and a vampire take out the third. The silver sword looking thing slides across the floor towards us. It's then that I realize; Romie can't be saved. They used an angel blade like the one my mother has.

I lose all sense of my surroundings as I try to keep the silver blood from pumping out of Romeo's chest. I can feel his pain. It gets harder and harder to breathe. Each breathe becomes a struggle. Then the cold begins to creep in. I know; I'm loosing him. I can feel him start to slip away. I do the only thing I can think of. I lay my body across his trying to keep him warm. I use my body to protect his; like he did for me. Our connection grows weaker. Romie caughs and blood spatters onto my face. I don't care. I don't wipe it away. I place his hand in mine trying to hold on to him. Trying to keep him here. He uses the last of his strength to open up our mind link to tell me he loves me. That's the last words I hear him say. His cold tiny hand slips through mine, and I roar.

"Don't leave me, Romie! Please!" I beg and plead. "I love you! Please brother don't leave me!" I scream and cry. I pat his cold face. Nothing happens. His cold lifeless eyes stare up at me. All the praying and pleading with the Goddess; did nothing. I scream and cry until I have no voice left.

Strong hands land on my shoulders trying to pull me away from my twin brother. I hold on to Romie like my life and his depend on it. I yank myself from the pying hands. I hold onto Romeo as I kick, scratch, bite, and claw anyone that comes near us. I won't let anyone seperate us. Aiden, Gunner, and Blaze work together to try and pull us apart. When they finally pull me away; I let them think they have won.

I'm passed to Aiden. And I bite him as hard as I can. When his hold loosens; I drop down and run back to Romie. I pull his head in my lap then bend so our foreheads are touching. My tiny heart shatters into a million pieces.

I block my empath ability. I don't need to feel the fear, grief, and  anger of everyone around me. I maybe able to shut everyone else's emotions out, but I can't block my own. My emotions are the worse ones. Until my parents arrive. Their grief and guilt combines with my own; overwhelms me. Blaze picks up my weak body and the world fades to black.

"I have a question. How do we know Skullz isn't the traitor and you're both helping Chance and Bael?" Gunner asks standing along side Aiden and Xavier who have taken up the position of blocking me from Vlad and Skullz view. "If we were the one's working for Bael and Chance; your sister and the twins would be on their way to hell with Bael. Not sitting in a room specifically designed for her to give birth comfortably. I wouldn't have invited you all here to figure out our next move or even told you we are her mates as well. If I was conspiring against you."Skullz stands there with his head hung low. When he raises his head his eyes lock on mine. I see the questions in his eyes. Do I trust him? Do I care for him as I always have? Can there ever be more between us? The answer is yes, I trust him. Skullz has been a part of my life almost as long as Aiden has. Skullz has proven time and time again he would lay down his own life for mine. I don't have to question his loyalty or devotion.

  • REMI   Aiden

I shove away from Skullz. Remi yanks me into her side pleading with her eyes for me to calm down. "Talk." I demand staring Skullz down. "The first time I scented my mate was the night Remi was attacked. Her seventeenth birthday. Her scent was strong, but it was mixed in with yours. I was sure I was mistaken. Especially with the way you were acting. And everyone saying that Remi was your fated mate. I mean there was no way she was my mate if she was your fated. So, I thought what I was smelling and feeling wasn't right. The more time I was around Remi, I knew she was my mate. I never said anything or came forward because she never showed any signs of feeling the same. So, again I was confused. Vlad here picked up what was going on with me at 318 for casino night. He was having the same problem. Neither of us wanted to step on your toes. Neither of us wanted to force anything with Remi. Remi and I are so close because of the bond we share. Not just because we're friends. She's my mate

When I walk back into my bedroom, everyone is here. I can't believe that my kidnapper called in my calvary. Tears cloud my eyes as I rush over to Aiden and my babies. I hug them as tightly to me as I can. "I can't believe he called you. He said he would. He did." I mumble into Aiden's chest. The twins begin to stir and whine a little because I'm squishing them. One by One my family passes the twins around. Aiden and I look on with pride. "So, what's their names? Remi refused to tell us until you got here." Kallista asks Aiden bouncing on the balls of her feet. She's dying to take my son away from his father again. "Ashton Romie Ramos and AshLynn Yanessa Ramos." Aiden says finally passing Ashton back around the room."Those are perfect names." My father beams with pride as he holds his first grandchild. AshLynn squirms and we all hear a noise and my father cringes. "I think she left her father a surprise." Kieran says handing my daughter to her father. Aiden looks lost as hell. I b

It's been hours since Remi and the others went missing. My phone keeps vibrating in my pocket. When I finially pull it out to check it; it's a number I don't recognize. "This is Aiden. Speak." I growl into the phone not at all worried about how I might come across to the person on the opposite end of the line. "Aiden, it's Vlad. We need to talk. It's about our mate. Remington." "She's mine! Only mine!" I growl into the phone. "No she's not. I've gotten her somewhere safe. The twins are safe. At least for now. There's a traitor walking among you. He has Blaze. I got to the scene just in time to get our mate and the other females to safety. They're all here. I'm sending you the address. Bring just the ones you know beyond a shadow of doubt that you can trust. I'll explain everything once you get here." Vlad hangs up leaving me speachless for a moment. I snap my head up looking at everyone in the room. No one here would dare to double cross me and Remi. Flashes of a soft pale yellow

I'm in the middle of a meeting with a vendor for 318 when a flash of images fills my mind. Gunner and Weston rush into the office shooing the two males from the booze delievery company out of the room. "Blaze and Kane's vehicle was found on the side of the road smashed to pieces. No sign of either one of them. Tianna's car was found a few feet away down the small ravine. We gotta go Aiden." Gunner says helping me out of the chair. "Remi was in labor. Where's Remi, Tianna, and Kallista?" I ask forcing myself to finally move. "They were taken. We think Blaze and Kane are on their trail. We don't have all the answers. Xavier and Skullz are at the scene now. Come on! We're going to catch the fuckers scent and go after them." Weston says. I point over at my truck and throw Gunner my keys. It feels a little awkward to have him here. But since Doc and Waylon got him from under that spell Mace casted; he's been trying to do everything he can to make up for the damage he feels he caused. Kallista calls Aiden, but doesn't get an answer. I continue to do breathing exercises. "Where's your go bag?" I point to the bag next to the couch in the little sitting room of our suite. Kallista helps me waddle across the room. I have another stabbing pain in my vag and stop walking. I cross my legs and pray the twins don't fall out. "I know it has to hurt. But we have to move. I called Dr. Williams. She knows we're on our way." I nod my head at Tianna, but the pain is too much. Blaze flashes into the room and picks me up. He carries me down the stairs through the house to the garage and puts me into Tianna's car. He pushes the seat all the way back; then leans the back of the seat as far back as it will go. "Follow me. Kallista, keep calling Aiden and Xavier. One of them has to answer. I'll call Kieran. Remi, keep doing your breathing exercises." We all nod our heads and he closes the door. We follow behind his SUV. We're just past the clubhouse when a huge truck crosses over in

The day after my zombie moment is peaceful. Tianna, Kallista, and Aiden's sister, Trinity all come over to keep me company while Aiden works. I feel horrible about all the time and hours he puts in between the mechanic shop ran by the hellhounds and 318. I try to keep in touch with Shade as much as possible to see how things are running and to help out as much as I can. She's training someone to take over for her because she is also going to have to leave in a few weeks. Aiden tells me he has everything under control, but I still worry about my business going up in smoke. I'm about to fall asleep during movie number three when I hear Aiden's heavy foot steps stomping up the stairs. Instead of turning to come to our room he heads towards the nursery. I realize the banging and racket coming from that side of the house has stopped. When I move to sit up all three of the females laying in my bed jump up. "What's up? What's wrong?" They yawn and stretch their sleeping asses out. "Nothin

The grumpy old fae answers on the first ring. "What now Aiden? You have my ass so busy I had to hire another crew to take on some of my other clients." Amos grumbles. But if I say I'm hiring someone else for a job; he bitches my ass out and insists he's the one doing it. "I need the twins' nursery done. Like yesterday." Amos huffs and puffs. I hear him whistle as he flips through the pages of his daily planner. He grunts acting as if he will be too busy. I know what he's doing. He wants more pay for the perfection and rush job only he can do. "I'll pay you double the agreed upon price. Remi, could have the twins any day now. We need it done and fast. And we both know; only you can do what we want done as fast as we need." I listen to him tapping his fingers on his desk. "You don't have to pay me double. Just the original quote plus half that. I'm fae. We both know I can have that nursery done with the snap of my fingers. Besides you and Remi are good people. I'm only gonna cut yo

"Okay, Remi. Tell me what's going on." Dr. Williams says as she pulls out a few hand held machines, a measuring tape and her stethoscope. She lays them on the bed as I explain what's going on. "I started having pains. They're not contractions because they're sparatic. They don't last long. What hurts the most is; it feels like the twins are about to come falling out my hooha." I pant as I continue to try and breathe through the pain in my vag. Dr. Williams lifts my shirt and tucks it under my tits. She measures me, takes my blood pressure then heads back to her bag. Sitting beside me on the bed she squirts some gel on my stomach and begins using a probe wand looking thing on my stomach. When the sound of my baby's heartbeat fills the air I know what this machine is for. "Ordinarily, I'd do this down at the office. However, since we're doing a house call today. I'm going to have to do it here. Remi, I need you to remove your pants and panties. I'm going to check to see if you're dia
