Rarely does Berth ever wander around the house or even step out of her room. Always in her room, locked away, talking to herself, sewing up clothes.

Berth has been sewing clothes for as long as she can remember. It all started when she was a little girl; like any other young girl with dreams, she wanted to be whisked away by a knight in shiny armor or prince.

She would imagine herself dancing in a pretty dress; the dress should be breathtaking and stir envy. When she realized her father was a pauper and would never be able to afford any quality dress, she started sewing.

At first it was out of spite; other kids had good clothes, so why couldn't she also have a quality dress to boast of? Soon it changed to despair; she was poor, her father was a pauper, and she would never be able to wear a nice dress!

Finally it became a habit. Every time she dreamed of herself dancing with a prince, she would pick up her needles, search for tattered clothes in her broken drawer, and then begin to se

  • ROYAL BLOOD   Chapter 174: A night with the king

A few minutes after Racheal stepped out, Micah came along through an opposite lobby. This was the fifth time she was crossing that path today. It wasn't a mere coincidence. She had been trying to fight the will to go into Ragaleon's chamber. For some reason she couldn't bring herself to see him.But right now, she had made up her mind to go in.She approached the door in small strides; surprisingly, the guards gave way immediately. She had thought they would turn her out; after all, Selena had given orders that no one was allowed to see the king. But what she didn't know was that Racheal had scared those two guards out of their wits. They simply bowed in courtesy, then opened the door for her to go in. She glides in, taking in all that was around her, her steps slowing down as her eyes roam around."What an irony."She began, her voice coarse."All my life of being in this castle, and the first time I step foot into your room is when you are on the verge of death."She really wishe

Racheal sat alone by the hearth, enthroned upon a chair of cold-hewn stone, its unyielding back pressing into her spine. In her hands, the knitting needles moved with dutiful precision, slipping and crossing in a practiced rhythm. Yet the motion was hollow, mechanical, and an instinct divorced from thought. Her gaze never strayed from the fire. The flames writhed and licked at the air, casting a fevered glow across her face, gilding across her cheekbones in an amber hue.In that restless flame, she searched for something unnamed…absolution. The fire reflected in her eyes, turning them molten, distant. It reminded her of all the promises that had been reduced to nothing. Her memories were in a state of jeopardy. Her skin prickling with heat from her own thoughts. His hands—she remembered his touch grazing her thighs. His voice, so deep and so enchanting, teasing at her earlobes. Those lips…oh, those lips. But now, where was he?In bed, a ghost of his former self, dying slowly. The

Every second that had gone by, Johanna had been worried sick. She had spent the passing days in a state of quiet unease. Meals went unfinished; sleep came and left without rest."What if he never returns?"The thought surfaced often, but she never gave it voice. Day after day, she waited, haunted by her innermost thoughts. Now here she stood before the door to his chamber, frightened by the mere thought of seeing him face-to-face."We should go inside."Leah said, disrupting her thoughts."We should."She agreed but still remained glued to where she stood, not showing any sign of movement.Already fed up, Leah took the first step; she nudged the door open. Johanna was a bit startled but closed in behind her. They both stepped into the room simultaneously, holding their breaths for what was to come, but they were taken by surprise.William was seated at the edge of his bed, stripped of armor, wearing nothing but a soft strip of linen wrapped loosely around his waist. The rays coming fr

"He was under your care—your supervision!"Selena's voice cracked through the chamber, her eyes hardening as they locked onto the Lord Commander, pinning him in place beneath her stare. "I did my best, Your Highness. It is only a shortcoming—it will pass."He groaned from where he sat."Shut that hole you dare call a mouth!"Selena snarled, her voice heavy with authority. The Lord Commander fell silent, reduced to nothing beneath her presence."My son is in there," Selena said, her voice trembling beneath the steel of her rage, "battling for his life, and you stand before me speaking nonsense, daring to dress failure in excuses."She took a step forward, eyes blazing. "You utter rubbish to my face and call it your best?"Her hand came down hard against the table. The thud echoed through the room, sending a jolt through every soul seated there. "Your best," she continued, her voice low now, dangerous, "was not enough."Immediately after Ragaleon was ushered into his chamber, an emer

Decreash Imperial Palace "My lady, you have to eat something." "I am not hungry." Racheal replied before retracting her gaze back at the window, where she leaned, her eyes fixed upon the gates."At least have some milk, if not for yourself, then for the sake of the baby." Rosa tried to coax her with words, but all was to no avail. "You cannot make me eat against my will, Rosa."She says, her lips merely moving as she talked, but her eyes did not waver. She had lost the will to do anything, to sleep, to eat, or to even live.Something in her, a voice, keeps telling her all isn't well; today was the fourth day, and he was yet to return. The spies they sent to know about his whereabouts are a story for another day. She was simply fed up."When is this pregnancy due?"Racheal asked, her hand tracing the surface of her stomach."A few weeks from now, if signs of prelabor show, it could be days."Rosa answered precisely."He must come."She heard Racheal say as she turned away from th

Vandamonth Imperial Palace The flicker of the lamplight caused the shadows along the wall to move, and the smell of the burning candle was suppressed by the intoxicating scent of the incense. The moon was far up in the sky, peeping through the dark clouds, pouring its celestial light through the window. The window in the chamber was opened, and the breeze from outside, along with the chills from the cold, swept in, causing the curtains to twirl. On a bed in the room, Kora struggled to suppress her moans; her knuckles were white as her grip on the bedsheet tightened. Her face was a whirl of emotions, her blue eyes haughty as she tried to keep up with the pace of Aaram's thrust. Her fingers remained entangled in his hair as her breasts bounced, slapping against her chest, the bed creaking under their weight."Say my name?"He groans into her ear as he plants wet kisses on her neck. His tongue slithering down to her shoulders, then to her right boob.Kora shut her eyes, a low hum escapi
