Julianna’s POV

My lungs burned as I sprinted through the winding palace corridors. The marble floor beneath me was slick with condensation, and every step echoed against the vaulted ceilings. Somewhere behind me, I could still hear the faint, cold laughter of Vaelen—the ghost that refused to stay dead.

I turned sharply and pressed my back against the wall, forcing myself to breathe. My chest rose and fell, heart hammering like a drum. The corridors were empty, but I could feel his presence—an icy whisper crawling down my spine.

Then, suddenly, a hand shot out from the shadows, grabbing me and yanking me into a dark corner.

I gasped, ready to scream, but another hand covered my mouth.

“Shh,” a familiar voice whispered.

My eyes adjusted to the dim light. My heart nearly stopped. “Scott?”

He nodded, his face illuminated faintly by the moonlight spilling through a crack in the ceiling. Relief washed through me so fast it almost hurt.

“How did you get away?” I asked breathlessly.

“Doesn’t

Vaelen Silvergrove’s POVAfter the war between the Elves and the Druids, peace was only a word, a delicate mask stretched over the wounds we refused to heal. The treaty was clear: The Druids would live below, in the roots and caverns beneath the Sacred Tree, while the Elves would claim the light above. They called it balance.I called it division.I was young then, the first prince of the Elven Kingdom, son of King Eldarion Silvergrove. From birth, I was told that the world above was perfect and that the world below was dangerous, unworthy. But even as a child, I questioned the stories we were fed.I still remember the day I met her — the day my fate changed forever. It was late afternoon, the market shining gold in the sun. I’d slipped away from my tutors, wandering where princes weren’t supposed to go.That’s when I heard shouting angry voices, the sound of boots pounding against the cobblestones.“Thief! Stop her!” someone cried.I turned and saw her a girl with tangled auburn hair

Lily POVThe throne room was silent except for the echo of boots on marble. The Queen sat rigid on her throne, her golden eyes ringed with exhaustion. Around her stood a dozen guards — tense, alert, waiting. We stood before her — Kaid, Cameron, Caleb, Fianna, Lila, Lyra, Aria, Wanda, Niamh, and me. None of us dared to breathe too loudly.“Tell me everything,” Queen Elenara said finally, her voice sharp as glass.I stepped forward, swallowing hard. “Your Majesty, last night, we set a plan in motion to expose the true culprit behind the King Elarion death.”Fianna looked down, her hands clasped tightly. Queen Elenara gaze softened for only a second before hardening again.“Continue.”“We created an illusion of the King, hoping to draw out the murderer,” I said. “It worked… but the situation escalated. The one who appeared wasn’t mortal.”K

Lily’s POVThe stone corridors beneath the palace seemed to breathe. Every step we took echoed back at us, bouncing off the walls like whispers of the dead. Cold air crept across my skin, and for the first time in a long while, even I felt uneasy. We stood at the top of a spiral staircase carved deep into the marble. Ancient runes lined its sides, pulsing faintly with mana.“What’s down there?” I asked quietly, peering into the shadowed abyss.“The Chamber of Echoes,” Fianna replied, her voice barely above a whisper. “It’s where the bodies of the royal bloodline are kept. Only members of the crown or the high guard are ever allowed entry.”Lyra floated slightly above the first step, her spectral form giving off a faint green-blue glow. “So why would your uncle go there?” she asked, her tone sharp.Fianna shook her head. “I don’t know… but if he’s there

Lily’s POVWe ran.Our footsteps echoed through the endless marble halls, the air heavy with the residue of shattered magic. The walls trembled faintly, as if the palace itself feared what was coming. Behind us, I could still hear Vaelen’s laughter—soft, deliberate, and terrifyingly calm.We turned a corner and darted into a small chamber lined with broken mirrors. I pressed my back against the wall, forcing myself to breathe. Lyra was the first to speak.“Okay,” she panted, “note to self—never, ever pick a fight with a dead guy again.”“Agreed,” I muttered, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “Is he gone?”Fianna peered through a crack in the door, her eyes sharp despite the faint tremor in her hands. “For now. But he’s looking for us. I can feel him.”I glanced at her. “You can sense him?”She nodded weakly. “He&rsq

Julianna’s POVThe throne room erupted into chaos.Lily and Aria threw up barriers while Kaid, Scott, and Cameron lunged forward, attacking in unison. Claws, fire, and raw mana crashed into Vaelen’s ghostly form—only to pass straight through him as if he were smoke. He didn’t even flinch.“Is that the best you can do?” Vaelen’s hollow voice echoed through the room, reverberating in my chest like thunder. “It useless, it liking trying to strike wind.”Scott growled, his fangs showing. “Let’s see if wind can burn!” He slammed his hands together, summoning a torrent of fire that tore through the air, engulfing the spectral figure. The heat was so intense the marble cracked beneath our feet. But when the flames died down, Vaelen still stood there—untouched, smiling faintly.“Nice fireworks,” he said, his voice almost mocking. “But fire cannot burn what isn’t bound to flesh.”Kaid leaped from the shadows, with his claws, his speed blinding. He slashed straight through the ghost’s torso. No
