"You gave everything to my company, Maya, but the world ended so don't look at me like that while I leave you and your useless brat here to freeze."

Derek’s cold voice cut sharper than the sub-zero wind as he stepped back, ripping Maya’s five year old son's winter blanket out of her freezing hands to wrap around his new lover, Chloe.

Behind them, five year old Leo sobbed quietly, his tiny lips blue from frostbite, before the howling snow monsters closed in across the ruined ridge.

Derek didn't look back as he kicked Maya's numb leg aside and walked toward the warm truck driving away, leaving them both to die in the snow.

She crawled towards Leo and hugged him tight as the monsters ran towards them.

A monster claw ripped through her chest and total darkness took her.

*******

Gasp!

Maya bolted upright, her lungs dragging in air. She clutched her chest with shaking hands.

No blood.

No claws.

No frostbite.

She sat on the bed inside her luxury master bedroom. The air conditioning hummed quietly, blowing warm, comfortable air against her face.

On the bedside table, her smartphone screen lit up with the date: August 12, 2026.

August 12, 2026. Exactly thirty days before radiation would plunge the Earth into a sub-zero apocalypse.

Thirty days before Derek and Chloe would throw her and her innocent child to the mutant frost beasts to save their own skins.

"Mommy?" a small, sleepy voice whimpered from the nursery door.

Maya’s heart nearly stopped. She turned her head and saw five yearold Leo standing in his pajama pants, rubbing his eyes with his small fists, whole, warm, and alive.

Maya rushed across the plush carpet, throwing herself onto her knees and pulling Leo tightly into her arms. She buried her face in his soft hair, her tears soaking his shirt as his warm body pressed against hers.

"Leo... my baby," Maya whispered, squeezing him tighter with protective emotion. In her past life, she had been too weak and naive to save him.

In this life, she would tear the world apart before anyone touched a single hair on his head.

Before she could catch her breath, a translucent, glowing blue screen materialized directly in front of her vision:

[SYSTEM INITIALIZED: SPATIAL CITADEL SYSTEM]

[User: Maya Vance]

[Dimensional Space Unlocked: Tier 1 (10,000 Cubic Meters)]

[Space Attribute: Absolute Stasis (Food/Items/Supplies Never Spoil)]

[Expansion Requirement: 0/100 Energy Cores]

Maya stared at the glass of iced water sitting on her nightstand. She focused her mind on it and thought, Store.

SWOOSH. The glass vanished instantly into thin air.

Inside an infinite, pitch black void within her mind, she saw the floating glass of iced water. The ice cubes remained completely unmelting.

Release, she commanded in her thoughts.

SWOOSH. The glass reappeared on the nightstand in the exact spot it had occupied a second ago.

A breathless, cold laugh escaped her lips.

She had her memories.

She had a second chance.

And she possessed a cheat tier infinite spatial storage system capable of holding a city's worth of survival supplies.

Click.

The bedroom door opened.

Derek walked in, He was staring down at his smartphone, typing a text message with a smirk playing on his lips. He didn't even glance at Leo sitting on the bed.

Seeing him whole and unbothered made Maya’s stomach churn with hate. Her hands clenched into her fists tight, nails biting into her palms.

"Maya, you’re finally awake," Derek said smoothly, without even bothering to look up from his screen.

"I need you to sign the legal transfer papers for your father’s southern real estate today. My company needs the cash immediately to secure our new corporate stock deal."

In her past life, Maya had signed those papers without asking a single question, giving away Leo's inheritance.

Derek had used her father's multi million dollar land to purchase a luxury downtown apartment where he secretly hid Chloe while Maya worked eighteen hour days paying off his family's corporate debts.

Maya placed a protective hand on Leo's shoulder and looked at Derek with dead, chilling eyes. "No."

Derek stopped typing. He raised his head, his sharp brow pulling together in surprise. "What did you say?"

"I said no," Maya replied.

"I am not signing over my father’s land to you or your company. That estate belongs to Leo."

Derek’s face darkened. He tossed his phone onto the bed and walked closer, putting on his usual manipulative expression of patience.

"Maya, don't be ridiculous. Leo is five years old; he doesn't need land. We are a team. My success is your success. Once this stock acquisition goes through, I’ll buy you that diamond ring you’ve been whining about."

"I don't want a ring, Derek," Maya said, standing up from the bed and stepping between Derek and her son.

"And we are not a team."

"What is wrong with you today?" Derek’s voice rose in sharp irritation as he stepped into her personal space.

"My mother is coming over for lunch at twelve sharp. Make sure you cook her favorite seafood stew and clean the living room before she gets here. She complained the house was dusty last week."

In her past life, Maya would have apologized frantically and rushed straight to the kitchen to spend three hours cooking for a woman who treated her and Leo like second class servants.

"Tell your mother to clean her own house," Maya said softly, every word weighted with pure venom.

"And if she wants seafood stew, she can buy it herself."

“You bitch!” Derek shouted about to hit her.

SLAP!

The sound cracked through the master suite. Maya's palm connected full force with Derek's cheek, snapping his head to the side.

Derek stumbled backward, gasping in utter shock as his hand flew to the bright red fingerprint burning across his skin. "You... you hit me?!"

"That was for taking my silence for weakness," Maya said.

"Try touching me, step toward me, or use that tone in the presence of my son again, and I won't just slap you, I will ruin every single thing you think you own."

Before Derek could react, his smartphone buzzed on from the bed, He picked it up quickly, pressing ignore, but not before Maya caught the caller ID name flashing on the screen:

[Chloe - Work]

Maya gave him a cold smile. He really thought he was so clever.

"I have an urgent corporate meeting," Derek snapped, grabbing his designer jacket to conceal his flustered reaction.

"We will talk about your unacceptable attitude tonight. And you will sign those southern land papers by tomorrow morning, Maya. Don’t push me."

He spun on his heel and marched out of the suite, slamming the door so hard the glass frames on the wall rattled.

The moment he was gone, Maya didn't shed a single tear. She picked up Leo, kissed his forehead, and called her trusted nanny, Sarah, to watch Leo inside the master suite.

Then she sat at her executive desk and logged into her private personal banking portal.

Her late father had left her a trust fund valued at fifty million dollars in stock.

In her past life, Derek had manipulated her into granting him full power of attorney, draining every penny right before the frozen world.

This time, things were going to be different.

Maya picked up her phone and dialed her father’s corporate lawyer, Mr. Harrison.

"Hello, Mr. Harrison?" Maya said.

"Maya? Good morning! How can I help you today, my dear?" the old lawyer answered kindly over the line.

"Four things immediately, Mr. Harrison," Maya commanded.

"First, revoke Derek Vance's access to all my bank accounts and cancel his power of attorney before noon today.

Second, freeze his corporate credit line linked to my trust fund."

"Third, put my father's mountain property up for immediate private defense construction, I need a three meter titanium steel perimeter fence, underground geothermal heating pipes, child safe living quarters, and solar power arrays installed."

"Fourth, liquidate all my stock holdings into cash by the end of this week."

There was a long, stunned silence on the other end of the phone line.

"Maya... liquidating all your stock holdings will net you over sixty million dollars in cash," Mr Harrison said, his voice trembling with grave concern.

"Are you absolutely certain? What about your husband's corporate business deal?"

Maya walked over to the glass window, looking out over the peaceful, sunny city below. Millions of people were walking around, enjoying iced coffees, oblivious that in thirty days, this entire earth would be buried under ten feet of ice and sub-zero snow.

Her eyes reflected in the glass were no longer those of a gentle, naive housewife. They were the eyes of a hardened survivor who had walked through the frozen gates of hell and returned to protect her child.

"Derek can handle his own business, Mr Harrison," Maya said coldly.

"I have sixty million dollars to spend, and I have thirty days to prepare."
