“Are you okay?” I asked him for the hundredth time and like before, Damon simply nodded with his eyes glued to the book in his hands, his legs crossed. I knew he wasn’t reading it because for the past minutes, he was still on the same page he’d been on.

Whatever was wrong with him, I knew for certain had to do with the visit of the bloodied man that had left. I had tried eavesdropping on them but the walls were thick, and all I could hear was the hum of their voices as they spoke.

What had they spoken about? What had led to the fight? From what I’ve seen, Damon was a dangerously calm person, he didn’t like to get his hands dirty, and he avoided violence. So what in the world had his visitor said to him to provoke him in that manner?

I patted the towel on my hair to dry it up before climbing on top of the bed where I laid and simply watched him.

“You should go to sleep.” He said, finally turning over to the next page.

“You should too.”
