One year later.

The doors of the Grand Horizon Convention Center swung open, welcoming the elite of the global financial world. Inside the gilded ballroom, crystal chandeliers cast a brilliant light over hundreds of executives, investors, and media personnel gathered for the annual Global Banking Summit.

At the center of the main stage sat Alexander Cross.

He wore a bespoke charcoal suit, his broad shoulders easily dominating the executive table. Yet, despite his commanding posture, a quiet, restless shadow lingered in his storm-gray eyes. For twelve months, Cross Global had expanded aggressively, but the victory felt hollow. Every rainy night, every sudden drop in the stock market, his mind involuntarily drifted back to a pale, amber-eyed woman standing in his boardroom with a ripped ultrasound in her hands.

He had sent his assistants to track her down weeks after that night, driven by a strange, clawing regret he refused to name only to find her apartment empty, her phone disconnected, and her father living alone in silence. She had vanished off the face of the earth.

Alexander shoved the memory down, uncapping his Montblanc pen as the summit host took the podium.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the host announced, his voice echoing through the loudspeakers. "We are ready to finalize the main acquisition contract of the decade. Cross Global will officially acquire the city’s primary trade assets, solidifying its total market monopoly."

Polite applause rippled through the hall. Alexander leaned forward, preparing to put his signature on the document that would seal his absolute dominance.

BOOM.

The heavy double mahogany doors at the back of the auditorium burst open, slamming against the marble walls with a thunderous crack.

The room fell dead silent. Hundreds of heads turned toward the entrance. Camera flashes instantly began to strobe like lightning.

Walking down the center aisle was a woman flanked by a fleet of high-powered corporate attorneys.

She wore an immaculate, midnight-blue silk suit that tailored perfectly to her confident frame. Her long hair fell in sleek, polished waves over her shoulders, and her posture exuded an icy, dangerous elegance that commanded every drop of air in the room. Her stride was smooth, deliberate, and unhurried—the high heels of her designer pumps clicking sharply against the polished floor with rhythmic precision.

Alexander’s hand froze mid-air. The Montblanc pen slipped from his fingers, clattering onto the glass tabletop.

His heart slammed against his ribs like a sledgehammer. The blood drained completely from his face, leaving his sharp jaw deathly pale.

"Sienna..." he breathed, the name ripping from his throat in a raw, disbelieving rasp.

She looked entirely transformed. Gone was the vulnerable, tear-streaked college student in a rain-soaked blazer. Standing before him was a breathtaking, lethal corporate powerhouse.

Beside her walked Marcus Sterling, dressed in a sharp three-piece suit, his hand resting possessively and protectively at the small of her back. The diamond ring resting on Sienna’s left ring finger caught the bright stage lights, sending a blinding flash across the front row.

"I object to the signing of this contract," Sienna’s voice rang out, cool, sharp, and perfectly poised. It carried effortlessly across the silent ballroom without a single tremor.

The host blinked in total confusion, adjusting his microphone. "Excuse me, ma'am? This is a closed corporate transaction"

"It was a closed transaction," Sienna interrupted smoothly, stopping right at the base of the main stage.

One of her senior attorneys stepped forward, placing a thick, stamped leather portfolio directly onto the host's podium.

"As of eight o'clock this morning," Sienna continued, her eyes locking onto Alexander's frozen, stunned expression, "Sterling Capital completed the acquisition of fifty-one percent of the voting shares in Cross Global's secondary supply chain. You don't hold a monopoly, Mr. Cross. You hold a minority stake."

Gasps erupted across the room. Journalists scrambled to lift their cameras, snapping frantic photos of the sudden standoff.

Alexander stood up slowly, his massive frame trembling with a mixture of shock, fury, and an overwhelming, suffocating wave of recognition. He stepped to the edge of the stage, his storm-gray eyes devouring her face.

"Sienna... where have you been?" his voice was barely a whisper, thick with a year’s worth of buried questions. "Who... what did you do?"

Sienna stepped up the short wooden stairs of the stage, her expression unreadable, her lips curved into a faint, razor-cold smile. She walked right up to Alexander’s table, stopping mere inches from him. The familiar scent of her soft jasmine perfume hit him, instantly shattering his calm facade.

She leaned forward over the table, resting her hands lightly on the polished surface, bridging the small distance between them.

Her amber eyes burned with absolute, unyielding retribution.

"I completed my credentials, took over your rival's firm, and built a life you could never touch," Sienna whispered, her tone carrying an edge of pure steel that made the billionaire's chest tighten. She glanced down at his unsigned contract, then looked back up into his shocked eyes.

"Did you miss me, Mr. Cross? Let's talk about who really owns your company now."

The rain had returned to the city, slicking the glass facade of Cross Global Tower in dark, running streaks. Inside his private office, Alexander stood in front of a sprawling corkboard that replaced his usual pristine wall art.Pinned to the center was a low-resolution photograph taken through a high-powered lens: Sienna entering a high-end pediatric clinic in the upper east district, cradling a bundle wrapped in a cream-colored blanket. The door behind him opened silently. Garrett, a private investigator who had worked off-the-books for the Cross family for two decades, stepped inside. He set a thin, unmarked manila folder onto the edge of the desk."You were right to look past the official birth registry, Mr. Cross," Garrett said, his voice gravelly from years of cheap cigarettes. "Marcus Sterling spent nearly three hundred thousand dollars wiping the digital footprint of Saint Jude’s Private Hospital for the week of October fourteenth last year. The official records show Miss Vanc

The grip around Sienna’s wrist was suffocating tight, radiating a raw, volatile energy that threatened to crack her icy exterior. Alexander’s face was inches from hers, his chest heaving as storm-gray eyes searched her features for any sign of panic or confession. Before Sienna could speak, a heavy, commanding hand clamped down firmly onto Alexander’s shoulder."Take your hands off my Co-CEO, Cross," Marcus said, his voice deceptively quiet but laced with lethal intent.Alexander didn't flinch. He didn't even turn his head away from Sienna. "Stay out of this, Sterling. This isn't corporate strategy anymore. This is personal.""Everything involving Sienna is my business," Marcus replied smoothly. With a swift, powerful movement, Marcus stepped into Alexander’s space, forcing Alexander’s fingers off Sienna’s wrist. Marcus calmly adjusted his gold cuff links, looking at Alexander with cold, aristocratic disdain. "You permanently forfeited the right to touch her the second you had your se

The heavy oak doors of the VIP negotiation suite clicked shut with a heavy, final thud, instantly sealing out the muted hum of the international financial summit.Sienna stood motionless beside a floor-to-ceiling glass panel overlooking the sprawling metropolis below. Her hands were folded calmly across the front of her crisp ivory suit, her posture radiating absolute composure. Beneath that polished exterior, however, every nerve in her body was braced for impact. She had spent a full year preparing for this exact moment, turning her trauma into armor and her pain into cold, calculating intelligence.Behind her, the sharp, deliberate sound of leather soles echoed against the hardwood floor. Alexander didn't pause near the long mahogany conference table, nor did he acknowledge the presence of her legal counsel. He walked straight toward her with predator-like purpose, stopping barely two feet away. His broad shadow completely engulfed her, carrying with it the familiar, suffocating sc

The private elevator hummed as it descended smoothly toward the underground parking garage. The polished steel walls reflected the tight, rigid line of Sienna’s jaw as she stared straight ahead.Marcus stood beside her, his hands tucked quietly into the pockets of his trousers. He watched her profile for a long moment, nothing the slight tremor in her fingers before she locked them tightly together in front of her suit jacket."You handled him well," Marcus said softly, breaking the quiet hum of the lift. "Cross looked like he was ready to dismantle the building with his bare hands."Sienna let out a slow, steadying breath, closing her eyes for a brief second. "I didn't spend the last twelve months studying high-level corporate warfare just to flinch at a raised voice, Marcus. Alexander is used to owning every room he walks into. It's time he learned what it feels like to lose control.""He won't let this go," Marcus warned, his voice turning grave as the elevator chimed and the doors

The media flashes erupted like brilliant white flares, washing over the stage in blinding waves. The murmurs of the crowd escalated into a full roar as reporters scrambled to record the sudden collapse of Cross Global’s monopoly.Alexander didn't hear a single question shouted by the press. His world had narrowed down to the woman leaning across his table. His gaze dropped from her steady, amber eyes to the gleaming diamond band on her left ring finger, then back to Marcus Sterling standing just two paces behind her."Clear this room," Alexander growled, his baritone trembling with a volatile mixture of shock and suppressed rage. He didn't look at his assistants or the summit organizers, but the authority in his voice sent the organizers scrambling to usher the press and executives toward the exit doors.Within three minutes, the grand ballroom was emptied, leaving only security personnel guarding the perimeter.Alexander rounded the executive table, his long strides closing the dista
