Cesare's point of view ~~~

The moment her face changed, I felt it.

It was like the air shifted. Her expression was tight and her face had gone pale. Her eyes were wide—not in fury, not in frustration, but something worse. Grief. Real, raw grief.

And my heart? It fucking sank like an anchor.

"Rose?" I called gently, taking a step forward.

She didn’t answer.

I moved quickly and crouched in front of her, gripping her shoulders like that would anchor her.

Then I raised her up so I could meet her eyes only to find tears formed in them. It broke me.

"What happened? Tell me what happened."

She blinked rapidly, and for a heartbeat I thought the tears would spill over, but no. She shoved them back inside like they were a weakness she couldn’t afford to show.

"I'm fine," she muttered.

Her voice was thin, so thin it hurt to hear.

Then she stood on trembling legs, her phone gripped in one hand like it was the only thing holding her to the present, and she walked straight to the door.

She turne

  • Reborn Heiress: His Obsession    Chapter 39: So Warm

Rosette’s point of view ~~~When the call ended, the screen of my phone glowed back at me like an accusation. For a few seconds, I just stood there frozen, my mind struggling to process what had just happened. Cesare’s voice hadn’t even filled the line because there had been no voice. Only the sound of harsh, ragged breathing, and then I heard a low grunt just before he hung up.Pain. It had been pain, I was sure of it.My heart squeezed in a way I hated, something anxious unfurling in my stomach. I shouldn’t feel this way. I had no reason to. He was the kind of man who probably ran headfirst into trouble just for the thrill of it. He lived and breathed chaos; danger wrapped around him like a second skin. If he sounded hurt, then maybe it was just another night in his world. And yet…My hand moved before my brain could stop it. I redialed his number. The line rang. And rang. And rang.No answer.I let out a shaky laugh and rubbed my temple. “Why am I doing this?” I muttered, almost

  • Reborn Heiress: His Obsession    Chapter 38: The Contract

Rosette’s point of view ~~~The moment I entered my father's study, I smelled his cologne. It lingered faintly in the air.The study also smelled of leather. But my father's smell clung to the room no matter how many times it had been aired out. I pushed the door shut behind me, leaning against it for just a moment before forcing myself forward. The desk sat like a beast in the middle of the room, dark wood stretching across more space than it needed to. His chair stood tall behind it, carved with designs I’d grown up staring at but never understood. Around me, shelves lined with neat binders, documents, old books—everything in its place, like he had left it frozen in time. But I wasn’t here to remember him.I crossed to the shelves, dragging my fingers across the spines of folders and binders. My eyes scanned the labels quickly, but nothing jumped out. Not yet.My pulse picked up as I started pulling them down, flipping through pages I barely registered before tossing them aside. I

Cesare's point of view ~~~Claudia Reeve's sudden arrival at Julio's funeral and her announcement was no sudden occurrence. I already knew what this was about. The sound of my engine faded as I pulled up to the curb outside the Grand Solace Hotel. The place loomed against the night sky, its golden lights spilling out.I cut the ignition, slipped my hands into my pockets, and stepped out. The night air was cool, brushing against my skin, but it didn’t slow me. My pace was fast and steady.Inside, the lobby gleamed like it had been polished just to blind you. Chandeliers hung overhead, dripping light across marble floors. The air smelled faintly of expensive perfume and something stronger—like money and danger mixed together.I didn’t stop at the reception desk. The woman behind it glanced up, recognized me, and lowered her gaze. The elevator doors slid open as if they’d been waiting for me.I pressed the button for the top floor. The mirrored walls inside threw my reflection back at

  • Reborn Heiress: His Obsession    Chapter 36 : Part Of A Missing Memory

Blake’s point of View~~~When I opened my eyes, I was driving.I drove without thinking, my hands were loose on the wheel and my mind replaying what happened last night at the party.Rosette’s voice, cold, bold and full of hatred, telling me it was over. The way she had looked at me was not just of anger. Not just tiredness. But it was final.I didn't really care, she was nothing but a property anyways. But I couldn’t quite believe she’d stomp out like that, her bare feet against the cold floor, leaving me and my guests speechless.I told myself I didn’t care.Told myself she was just blowing off steam. But there was a knot in my gut that had followed me into my Bentley. The same knot had been there every other day till today, tightened with every passing mile. It was a kind of uncertainty I hadn’t felt in years. My phone rang and I glanced at it. An unknown number. I grabbed it, thumb swiping the green icon, pressing it to my ear.“Mr. McCain?” a voice said, professional and crisp. “

Rosette’s point of view ~~~James emerged from the crowd like a well-timed stagehand, his expression tight but practiced. He went straight to the man still standing in front of me who was tall, mid-forties, the kind of face that was forgettable until you noticed the cut of his suit and the quiet arrogance in his stance.“Mr. Carson,” James said, voice dripping with polite apology, “please forgive the misunderstanding. It was… a momentary overreaction.”Momentary overreaction? My eyes flicked to him, then to the stranger, then to Cesare, who still had his arm braced around me like I was some fragile vase.Mr. Carson gave James a thin smile, though his eyes stayed fixed on me. “No harm done,” he said, but the tone told me there was harm done—at least to his pride. Men like him always stored their grudges like fine wine, to uncork at the perfect moment. It didn’t take more than the way James spoke to him, the subtle bow of his head, for me to understand that this man was of some impor

  • Reborn Heiress: His Obsession    Chapter 34: The Cemetery

Rosette's point of view ~~~The drive to the cemetery was quick. I didn't speak. Neither did he.When we finally slowed down, I recognized the place immediately from many years ago. It was on this same soil that my mother was buried. It hadn't changed that much. The wrought iron gates stood wide, their black paint gleaming, welcoming cars into the paved loop that circled the cemetery grounds. Past the gates, rows of tall oaks stretched their branches toward the sky like dark, solemn guardians. The grass was impossibly green, the kind of color that made you think of summer picnics—except today, it only looked cruel.Cesare eased the car to the curb, but when I reached for the handle, his voice stopped me.“Wait.”I froze, glancing at him over my shoulder. “What?”He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he killed the engine, stepped out, and came around the car. I watched his tall, huge, frame move with his black shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing a very small tattoo tha
