Nice idea, and we'll end up paying less for the shares", Andrew said thoughtfully.

"But will he be willing to sign it", Andrew added worriedly.

"He'll be willing to sign, he won't even read the paperwork ", Kate said sure of it.

"You are very right, great idea Kate", Andrew praised making Kate chuckle.

"Okay I'll send the paperwork to him, what about the contract with Donovan Car Enterprise? ".

"Well, I think I might sign it with them actually", Kate answered truthfully.

"Looks like they really gave you a good first impression ", Charles noted.

"Yh, I'll decide after I have met him".

"Sure, good luck and I'll send the paperwork to Mr George".

"Sure", Kate nodded and ended the call.

Kate was about to leave the terrace when she heard someone cry in pain.

"Ouch!", A little girl's voice said.

Kate turned her head towards the direction and saw a girl with chestnut hair standing beside the Rose bush, holding up her finger.

"Hey! Are you hurt?", Kate asked worriedly as she ran over to her,

His phone vibrated in his hand, reminding him why he’d stood up. His forehead creased slightly at the unknown number before he placed it to his ear. “Yes?” “Miss Andino is at the station.” His expression hardened instantly just as a woman’s voice screamed in the background. “How many times do I have to tell you I have nothing to do with the accident? I'm calling my lawyers, and you're all going to be arrested for falsely detaining an innocent person!” She always loved making a scene, he hissed inwardly. “Alright, I’ll be on my way”, Charles replied, ending the call. “Innocent? Yeah, right. She was still lying”, he muttered. “What’s wrong?” He turned to see Kate, dressed in a knee-length denim skirt, sweatshirt, and high heeled boots, worry etced across her face. His shoulders relaxing a bit. “Did something happen?” She asked, stepping closer and noticed the tense look on his face, very different from the playful Charles from minutes ago. “I need to get to the sta

A WEEK LATER It was a quiet morning at FastTech Limited. Rose sat at her desk, flipping through a file when the door burst open. Two hefty men clad in black suits stepped in, followed by a third man who looked like the senior, escorted by a frantic looking Stacy. Rose looked up sharply, her eyes darting from the men to Stacy, arching an eyebrow. “I’m really sorry, ma”, Stacy stammered, her head bowed slightly. “I tried to stop them but….”. The senior man interrupted smoothly, holding out his badge. “FBI, ma’am”. Rose’s forehead creased. “FBI?” “Yes”, he nodded, his voice calm but firm. “We're here to take you, ln charges of attempted murder against Miss Cosgrove”. “What?!” Rose shouted, slamming her hand on the desk as she sprang to her feet. Her eyes filled with rage. “You can’t be serious!” “I suggest you comply and follow us to the station”, one of the men in black said. “Who sent you here?” She demanded. “All your question will be answered soon. But first,

Stupid fly”, Kate mumbled, feeling a tickle behind her ear, about to fall deeper into sleep, when she heard a voice, vague, but unmistakably Charles. “You scared me again”. “Why didn’t you come back to me?” She had planned to ignore him especially since he had done the same, but who was she kidding. She loved this man. She couldn't ignore him even if she tried. He must be feeling guilty about what had happened. Her eyes fluttered open to see him sitting on a stool by her bedside, her hand cocooned in his large ones, pressed against his forehead as his head hung low. “I’m sorry for scaring you”, she rasped. Charles lifted his head, surprise flickered across his face to see her awake. Kate tried to sit up, but she felt heavy and weak. What kind of drugs were they injecting into me, for god sake? she hissed inwardly. Noticing her struggle, Charles helped her without a word, propping a pillow behind her back. “Thank you”, she muttered with a faint smile. But he only n

“What’s wrong dear?” Gabriel asked, tearing her gaze from the door. “They’ll be back soon”. Kate didn’t know what to say, so she just nodded. Kyle hissed beside her. “Taylor, don't bother about them. Just focus on healing”. “What are you doing here?” Gabriel asked suddenly. “Huh?” Kyle arched a brow, finding the old man’s question ridiculous. He almost rolled his eyes but stopped himself, about to speak but Gabriel cut him off. “Can’t you see I want to be alone with my granddaughter?” “Granddaughter?” Kyle echoed, incredulous. He turned to Kate, expecting an explanation but she gave none. “What are you still doing here?” Gabriel snapped. “Taylor?” Kyle turned to Kate again, this time searching her face. He knew Gabriel couldn’t just kick him out, not if she wanted him to stay. Kate gave a soft sigh. “Let’s talk another time Kyle, after I’ve been discharged”, she said gently, giving him a small smile. She appreciated his care and concern, but she wanted space. An

She ran. What was she running from? All she knew was she had to get away from that creepy basement, from him - the one who claimed to love her. Her bare feet marched over pebbles, stones and twigs. She ignored the pain and kept running. The tall trees surrounding her, blocked the sunlight and eyes hadn’t adjusted to the daylight from staying in the darkness for so long. Her stomach growled in complaint, reminding her she hadn't eaten anything tangible in days. She had refused to eat whatever he gave her no matter how much he'd begged. Yes — she would rather starve than eat whatever he offered her. Sometimes he’d forced her, but she’d vomit it all over him. “You and your stupid pride. You should have just eaten the food”, a voice scolded her in her head. And now she regretted she didn’t. She couldn't keep running. She needed to hide. Then at dawn, try finding her way home. Her eyes scanned the woods, praying to find a shed or a cave, maybe. But she suddenly tripp

At the Hospital Charles walked through the busy hallway. Vincent can’t find out what he had done, or he’d skin him alive, and lecture him on how it was illegal to perform a DNA test on both parties, without their consent. He stopped at the laboratory office, his palm suddenly clammy and sweaty with fear and anticipation. This was it, he was going to find out the truth once and for all. He stopped at the door, about to knock when it suddenly opened, gray hair coming into view. They both stared at each other stunned for a moment. “Grandpa…” Charles said first, his eyes went down to the old man’s arm, clutching a white envelope in his hand. “Charles..”, Gabriel beamed. His fist tightened on the envelope, trying to hide it behind him, noticing Charles' gaze. He walked out fully, closing the door behind him. “What brings you to the hospital today?” Charles asked, his eyes narrowed in suspicion but he maintained a neutral expression. “I came to see Taylor”, Gabriel answered. “W
