Prologue

"Arghh!", Kate screamed in fear. She was in an out of control car - her car.

She stomped her foot on the brake paddle desperately, but still nothing happened, pressed the button of the car glass but the window didn't roll down. 

"This was crazy", she thought, panicking.

The car drove into the woods, with no sign of stopping, they were already far away from city S.

The moon was the only source of light, as the car drove deeper into the forest, speeding through the tree branches and driving on the rocky dirt road. Kate held onto the steering wheel for dear life, bending her head whenever a tree branch hit the car's windshield.

 "How had she gotten into this mess", she thought hopelessly, her eyes red and puffy from crying. 

Kate gripped the steering wheel tightly, the fear in her eyes turned to hatred, "Kyle, you son of a bitch", she cursed slamming her hand hard on the steering wheel before running it through her already messy hair, as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Kate was the only child and daughter of Tiffany and Nathaniel Andino, and also the heiress of the Andino family. And was going to take over the family business soon.

She is 24 years old, having a first class degree in automobile engineering and a diploma in business administration. Kate was more than ready to take over the family business - Fast Tech Limited.

Kate loved the family business. Since she was a little girl, she would always follow her dad to the company whenever she was on holidays, learning about cars, how they work, and how they were made. That's what drove her to study automobile engineering in college.

 Although she loved seeing how the cars were being built and designed, Kate's favorite part of the company was the driving arena, where the new cars were tested.

"Faster daddy", little Kate will always say whenever they were testing a new car, and that's where Kate's love for driving and cars came about. Her wish was to own her own car company when she grows up.

 "Daddy when I grow up, I want to own a car company just like yours, even bigger", little Kate said to her father, all smiles.

Nathaniel smiled at his daughter then patted her head lovingly, "You don't need my little princess, this company is for you".

“For me", little Kate thought confused.

Nathaniel chuckled at his daughter's confused expression, "When you grow up,you'll understand",he nodded.

 "But I'm already grown up",little Kate defended, Nathaniel couldn't help laughing at his daughter's adorable expression.

 "You still need more growing up to do"Nathaniel explained to his daughter and she could only nod .

 And Kate did understand, by the time Kate was 18 she found out she was the heiress to the Andino family fortune which also includes taking over the family business. 

Kate did feel happy to find out but most of all she really wanted to have her own company she'll build from scratch, just like how her grandpa and dad did.

 "Dad, do I really have to take over the family business?"Kate asked when she was 20.

Nathaniel looked at his daughter confused with a raised eyebrow, "Why do you ask?, you said you liked the family business and you also wanted to have one of your own".

"Yh,I did", Kate answered, staring at her entwined fingers. "It's just that....... I wanted to build my own company", She looked up at her dad.

"Oh Princess, I understand what you mean but you don't have to bother about that. The company and all the Andino fortune are for you", He said, placing his hand on her right shoulder.

"As long as I and your mum are here you don't have to worry about that and just depend on us , we'll take care of you",Nathaniel squeezed his daughter shoulder gently 

 Kate nodded and watched her dad give her a brief smile before leaving. She didn't want to depend on her parents all the time, she wanted to be a smart and independent woman.

Being born with a silver spoon, Kate didn't face any challenge growing up. They were really rich, and her parents loved and doted on her so much, encouraging her in whatever she did. 

She wasn't allowed to do any house chores or work in the house, and went to elite schools only rich kids could afford from high school to college.

 Kate loved her life and won't trade it for anything. The only problem Kate did have was making real friends, they were either after her money or her dad's connection.

It was really annoying and Kate avoided hanging out with the bratty rich heiresses, and they did too cause they thought she was prideful, and told everyone not to hang out with Kate again.

 Well not like she cared, and that gave her more time to focus on her dreams, and met her first friend Rose. 

Rose didn't come from a rich family, she was an orphan who lived with her grandma in the suburbs and got into Kate's school through a scholarship.

 And the two girls instantly became best friends, Rose was timid and sweet,that's what Kate liked about her. And they both had a common enemy, the bratty rich heiresses. 

Kate would always stand up for Rose whenever they tried to bully her, they were inseparable and Kate even convinced her parents to sponsor Rose to the same college with her.

 Rose was more than a best friend to Kate, she was like a sister.

 When Kate went to college that's where she met him, Kyle Bruce - heir of the Bruce family. They first met at a coffee shop, later Kate found out he was a senior at her school. They both started hanging out together and soon they were dating, Kate thought it was love at first sight.

 Kyle was kind, sweet and caring and never failed to show how much he loved her. Never had she thought he was a 2 faced bastard. 

Her hands gripped tightly on the steering wheel, "he cheated on her".Even after promising her the moon and the whole world how she had been so naive to fall for his words.

Kate was sitting on her bed with her best friend Rose as they talked about random stuff, when she received a video from an anonymous person. Curious she opened it, and couldn't believe what she was seeing it was her boyfriend Kyle and another lady having sex. 

The face of the lady was blurry but she could see her blonde bob hair,her eyes not leaving her boyfriend, not able to believe it.

Leaving the house in a rush, she got into her Volkswagen Golf Design, a limited edition as she had designed it herself when she was 22, painted red and made using the latest technology.

Nathaniel and Tiffany were out of city S, Kate headed to Kyle's apartment. Yes, she was sad but mostly angry. 

 Kate didn't want to believe what she saw in the video, but her guts told her it was true because lately their relationship hasn't been doing well.

She parked her car in front of Kyle's apartment getting down, taking long strides to his door wanting to knock. She decided against it, and opened the door using his extra key which he always kept under the flower pot.

 Quietly closing the door behind her, Kate headed towards the stairs to his room. Seeing his clothes and a lady's cloth discarded on the stairs making a path to Kyle's room, Kate's breath became heavy with every step she took. 

She didn't want to believe it but deep down she knew it was true, the scattered clothes on the floor a clear evidence of what was going on inside Kyle's room.

Getting closer to the room Kate could hear their moans, bracing herself for what she was going to see in the room, she took careful steps then barged in startling the two who were entwined on the bed.

"Who the fuck is that", Kyle yelled angrily, quickly using the duvet to cover him and the lady.

"Kyle", Kate said hurt staring at Kyle's shocked face.

"Kate baby is that you?", Kyle asked, still shocked, quickly grabbing a towel beside him wrapping it around his waist before taking long strides towards her.

"No, who else", Kate yelled annoyed, hearing his endearment made her feel disgusted.

Holding her arm carefully, Kyle couldn't believe it, it was really her but how, "fuck!", Kyle cursed out loud running his hand through his dishelved hair.

"Look Kate it's not what you think", Kyle said exasperated.

 "It's not what I think", Kate said in a soft tone, "then what is it Kyle", her voice rising a few octaves higher.

 "You are cheating on me", Kate concluded, Kyle looked away embarrassed."This isn't the first right?", she probed as she watched Kyle rub his nape embarrassed, guilty.

"How could you?",

"Look baby..", Kyle said, trying to grab her hands.

"Don't baby me", Kate glared at him, moving back as she ran her hand through her hair. As the realization hit her, she turned her head towards Kyle.

"It's because of sex right", Kate said forcing Kyle to look at her giving her a quizzical look.

"It's because of sex right", she repeated, as she watched Kyle let out a heavy breath, licking his lips.

"You asshole!", She yelled as she slapped Kyle across the face. "Just because I didn't want to have sex with you...........you cheated on me".

"Yh, and so what", Kyle said angrily.

"What did you think Kate, I'm a man and have got to satisfy my desires too, you can't expect me to be a monk just because you refused to have sex with me", Kyle defended

"Wow Kyle you're such a jerk", Kate held her tears back.

“We are done Kyle and I don't want anything to do with you ever again", Kate left his house feeling betrayed, leaving a shocked Kyle.

"Kate baby, let's talk this out ", Kyle rushed after her but it was too late as he watched Kate speed off in her car,running a hand along his face.

"How had she been stupid and naive",Kate thought, driving with no place in mind, leaving city S. 

After driving for an hour, Kate decided to head back home and that's when it began bringing her to her present situation.

"Her phone?",Kate thought, as she looked around the car and spotted it on the floor of the passenger seat. Bending down to pick it up, Kate didn't notice she was heading for a boulder at full speed. 

Kate raised her head, looking straight ahead, "Oh no!". It was too late, the car hit the boulder coming to a halt, hitting her forehead hard on the steering wheel, the windshield made a cracking sound breaking into a million pieces, and the car was wrecked.

"Arghh!", Kate groaned in pain, trying to raise her head up but she couldn't as it felt heavy. She slowly brought her hands up to her forehead and touched it, she felt something sticky trickle down the sides of her face - blood.

Suddenly, the door of the driver's seat opened. "Help", she begged, stretching out her hand to the person but the person didn't move.

A wicked smile crawled on the person's face,"Oh no Kate I didn't come to help you but rather see you one last time before you go".

"No it can't be", She knew the person's voice all too well, she forced her eyelids open, all she could see was blur. 

"Rose", 

"Took you long enough to guess",

"But why?"Kate muttered.

"Why?", Rose repeated, "I didn't come to answer your questions,just to say goodbye", Rose said in a cold tone.

Kate felt like she was stabbed, first her boyfriend and now her best friend. Why!.

"Bye Kate", She heard Rose say before blacking out, then an explosion was heard. Her car exploded.
