Aurora stood at the balcony doors for a long moment after ending the call with Bobby.

Below her, the estate grounds seemed to stretch out in deceptive calm….trimmed hedges, stone paths, a world that looked orderly enough to trust. She knew better now. Calm was just another disguise.

Behind her, laughter drifted from the living room.

Elara’s voice was bright and animated while Jaxon was like a quieter presence beside her, toy cars clinking softly against the floor.

Aurora turned away from the balcony.

Soon she will be meeting up with Bobby, and she can’t take Elara everywhere. Especially not when Bobby was involved. Especially not when she was starting to move pieces that could provoke retaliation.

She walked through the hall and into the kitchen, where the soft hum of appliances filled the space. One of the servants glanced up.

“Good afternoon, Mrs.Steele.” She greeted.

“Please,” Aurora said, keeping her voice level, “ask Mrs. Harper to come see me in Elara's room.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Aurora finally found her voice.“I’m sorry,” she said, steadying herself even as her pulse kicked hard against her ribs. “I’m not Lilith.”The stranger who had bumped into her studied her face more closely now, his gaze slow, deliberate, and unsettling.“I can see that now,” he said.Aurora paused. It wasn’t just his words…it was his voice. Low. Controlled. Familiar in a way that made something cold slide down her spine. She couldn’t place it, no matter how hard she tried, but her instincts were screaming at her to be careful. The man stretched out his hand toward her.“I’m Billy.”Aurora had to fight everything in her not to react. So this was him.Billy.Of course, that was why his voice felt familiar. Lilith’s shadow didn’t just linger in places… it walked, breathed, and spoke. This was the man Lilith was involved with. The man Bobby had mentioned more than once, always with a note of caution, he rarely used, the man who had broken into Lilith’s apartment, and they had overheard hi

  • Reborn Of The CEO’s Cold-Hearted Wife   Chapter 144: In Her Apartment

Aurora walked straight to the balcony. She didn’t rush, she walked as casually as she could, so as not to arouse the suspicions of the servants and guards. With the way Xavier has been hovering and how he had someone follow her the last time, she wouldn't be surprised if he had someone watching her. Her steps were calm, measured, and practiced. The sliding door closed softly behind her, sealing her off from the laughter inside, from the kids’ voices, from the fragile sense of normal she’d been pretending to hold onto all afternoon.Only when she was alone did she lift the phone back to her ear.“I’m listening.”Bobby didn’t waste time. His voice came through low and controlled, the way it always did when he was somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be.“I duplicated the key. I’m talking to you right now from Lilith’s apartment.”Aurora’s grip tightened on the railing, her stomach instantly filled with nerves. The city stretched out below her, bright and indifferent.“Isn’t that risky?” she

  • Reborn Of The CEO’s Cold-Hearted Wife   Chapter 143: The Wait.

Aurora spent the rest of the day waiting. Not the restless kind of waiting that made her pace or check the door every few minutes, but the quiet, coiled kind…the kind that sat heavy in her chest and refused to loosen its grip. Her phone never left her reach. It stayed beside her on the counter when she poured juice, on the arm of the couch when she sat down, and in her pocket when she moved around the house.Every vibration, every distant sound, made every nerve in her body tense up.The only thing that made the day slightly easier was the silence.Lilith wasn’t around. She hadn’t come back from the lab the night before, and by late morning, it became clear she wasn’t coming home anytime soon. Her room remained untouched. No footsteps in the hallway. No sharp voice cutting through the air. No presence hovering just close enough to be felt.Xavier wasn’t home either.Aurora noticed his absence the way one notices the sudden quiet after a storm…unnerving, but temporarily relieving. What

“See who tomorrow?”Aurora froze. The voice was behind her.Way too close.Slowly, she turned.Xavier stood there, arms crossed, eyes sharp and searching, as if he’d been dissecting her from the moment she spoke.Aurora's heart begins to race as she wonders how much of her conversation he has heard. She composed herself then turned to face him, “So now you’ve reduced yourself to eavesdropping?” Her tone was sharp.Xavier didn’t flinch. “That’s not what I asked you. Who are you seeing tomorrow?”She held his gaze, unblinking. “Well, it’s none of your business. Again, I’m allowed to have friends, and I’m allowed to hang out with whoever I want to hang out with.”She stepped past him, not waiting for permission or his response. But Xavier didn’t move.He stood there and watched her walk away, something cold and unsettled pooling in his gut.She was hiding something,he knew that for a fact. And he hated not knowing.Once she was gone, Xavier pulled out his phone.“I need you to keep an eye

Aurora pulled into the driveway just as the sky began to dim, the last stretch of daylight thinning into evening. The engine cut off, and for a moment she stayed where she was, hands resting on the steering wheel, listening to the quiet hum of the house ahead of her.In the back seat, both children were fast asleep.Jaxon’s head had tilted forward slightly, lashes resting against his cheeks, his small fingers still curled loosely around the strap of his seatbelt. Elara was slumped toward the window, her mouth parted in sleep, one sock halfway off her foot.Aurora smiled softly. For a few hours, the world had been simple. No lies. No pretending. No watching every word and expression for cracks. Just laughter, sugar-sticky fingers, tired legs, and children who had no idea how fragile things really were. She stepped out of the car quietly and opened the back door.“I’ll take Jaxon,” she murmured to herself, more out of instinct than necessity. She reached in carefully, sliding one arm un
