Amy

Before

I grabbed the sheet, startled, as if everything was just a nightmare. I looked at the gray walls in front of me and realized it was real. Not only that, but I had slept at Simon’s house, in his bed.

When I turned my neck, I glimpsed his face, so calm, with his eyes closed. I imagined myself running my fingers over his stubble. I closed my eyes and wanted to kiss his lips until I realized that me still being here was a mistake.

I crept out of bed, my chest rapidly pounding as if it were about to explode. I tried to make the least noise possible so as not to wake him. I grabbed my bag from the chair and looked at Simon one last time.

His hair was messy, falling over his forehead. His chest moved slowly, rising and falling; the bedsheet was disarranged. It was a pity I hadn’t messed it up in another way. I had simply lain down next to him and fallen asleep, even though my body begged to be touched.

Simon was under the effects of medication, and no matter how much he wanted, no

Amy’s POVThe world narrowed to fragments. Red and blue lights strobed frantically against an ebony sky, turning my mansion’s marble façade into a nightmare landscape. I heard sounds, but they felt submerged—a muffled chorus of urgent voices and the sharp wail of a siren slicing through the night. The cold asphalt pressed against my back, yet strangely, I felt no impact. Only a vibrant numbness remained, an electric current coursing through my limbs that stifled my screams. Megan was there. Her usually calm face looked distorted by anguish. Tears glistened under the ambulance lights, drenching her cheeks as she knelt beside me.“Amy! Please, Amy, stay with me! Help! Someone help her!” Her cry felt like a jagged blade, shredding the last of my consciousness.I wanted to tell her I was fine. I tried to move my lips but tasted only the metallic tang of blood. Paramedics surrounded me like fleeting shadows. Firm hands hoisted me up, the stretcher swayed rhythmically, and finally, the ambu

Amy’s POVThe silence in that mansion had never felt so loud. Every creak of the floorboards beneath the rug and every chime of the grandfather clock in the hall echoed like a gunshot inside my skull. I stared at my phone screen until the blue light scorched my eyes, waiting for a sign, a trace—any word from Simon. I had sent the message an eternity ago—or maybe only twenty minutes—and the silence that followed felt like a death sentence. Not only that, but I couldn’t keep my legs still. I paced the room, my bare feet sinking into the shadows while my fingers tore at my cuticles. Anxiety left a metallic tang on the tip of my tongue. I had done it: Sara was alive. I snatched her from death’s grip at the last second, and that relief should have sustained me. Instead, the pain of not saying goodbye felt like a black hole in my chest. I wanted to hold her, feel the warmth of her skin, and ensure she stayed away from Peter’s rot forever.Suddenly, a voice shattered my haze. It came from do

Warren’s POVThe scent of Nora’s perfume—that cloying, sweet aroma that once enticed me—now choked the air of my office like smoke from a landfill fire. I watched her utter those words—“I love you,” “second chance”—and felt a deep nausea rise in my throat. She put on a pathetic performance. It was a desperate attempt of a wounded animal crawling back to shelter before winter hit.For a second, a heavy, suffocating silence hung between us. I let her believe for a single heartbeat that her confession had softened the stone I carry in my chest. Then, the cold logic that governs my life took over. Nora wasn’t a passionate lover; she was a risk. A loose end. A blackmailer trying to switch tactics because the previous one nearly killed her.“A second chance?” I repeated, my voice cracking like a whip.I shoved her away. She didn’t expect it; she staggered back, eyes wide with su

POV WarrenMy engine roared as I left Amy’s mansion behind. The asphalt seemed to surrender to my command as I accelerated toward the city’s financial district. I should have felt satisfied. After all, I had achieved the impossible: I cleared a multi-million dollar debt, restored my credibility, and backed Amy into a corner at the altar. But the coldness in her eyes… that wasn’t part of the plan. This new Amy—icy and impenetrable—was an enigma I had yet to crack.I pulled into my private spot at the office. The glass and steel tower stood as a monument to my ambition, though I knew the foundations were trembling within. I rode the private elevator up, adjusting my cufflinks in the mirror’s reflection. I needed to project power. On the 42nd floor, only the muffled drone of conversation from the boardroom, where the shareholders awaited me, broke the hallway’s silence. Before I could enter, a heavy hand landed on my

POV SimonThe blue glow of my phone screen provided the only light in the dark corner of the Safehouse. Outside, rain drummed against the tin roof, creating a monotonous, depressing melody that perfectly matched the constant state of hyper-vigilance I lived in. When Amy’s notification popped up, my stomach knotted. Her words were brief, urgent, and heavy with the danger I’d been expecting—yet they were no less terrifying:“Get Sara out of the country now. Peter has stopped playing games. He’s hired mercenaries and is working with her family. They’re scouring every inch of the city, knocking on doors they shouldn’t. It’s only a matter of time before they get too close.”I closed my eyes for a second, feeling the weight of that responsibility. Peter wouldn’t accept defeat easily, and his alliance with Sara’s family made everything worse; they had personal motives and shadowy resources.

  • Reborn to Marry My Ex's Enemy   Chapter 99

POV AmyThe silence following Warren’s declaration about the wedding grew so heavy I could hear the frantic thumping of my blood pulsing in my temples. He tucked the receipt into his jacket’s inner pocket with the flair of a magician finishing a masterstroke. Then, he flashed that rehearsed benevolence that once charmed me but now made me want to scream.“I’ve scheduled a dinner for tomorrow night at my place,” he announced, his voice smooth as if we were merely discussing the weather. “I invited several vendors and a top-tier wedding planner. We need to finalize the date, choose the flowers, set the menu… in short, we're preparing the event of the year.”I stared at him for a long beat. His audacity almost fascinated me. He truly believed that after paying off a debt with money of questionable origin, I would simply revert to the porcelain bride he so admired.“Don't bother, Warren,” I replied,
