I freeze at the sight of both of them, flipping in my mind whether to fake happiness that she’s here or to keep up my lie that we had a big fight and remain indifferent towards her.

The three of us stood there in awkward silence for a few seconds before the woman spoke.

“Bella, your husband is a nice man, he has been taking care of me” she turns to look at Chris and puts a small smile on her face.

Has been taking care of her? That means Chris has been in touch with her all this while and he didn’t tell me.

I hope she hasn’t said a lot of things about me that I myself do not even know about, most of my childhood memories I told Chris were those of myself, the few vague things I told him about Bella were from her diaries.

“He has?” I finally reply, opting to put on a smile to show my relief rather than keep up my supposed anger.

Chris notices my apprehension and knows he has some answering to do, so he says “I’ll leave you both to it, I’ll let you know when I’m leaving
